Definition
Evaluation is a process defined as a systematic process of determining the extent to which educational objectives are achieved by pupil.
Need for curriculum evaluation1) It helps to clarify objectives and also
to know the extent of objective
2) Diagnosis difficulty in curriculum process i.e. with the individual student or class teacher as well as for teaching-learning activities achieved.

• 2) It leads to improvement of instruction & the teaching-learning process, motivates the students determines the student level of knowledge, skills & attitude at intervals &finally the learner can be promoted to next grade

• 1.Curriculum evaluation is concerned with the measurement of achievement of objectives.
• 2. curriculum evaluation is the collection and use of information to make decision about the educational programme.

Formative evaluation• It is concerned with the
development of new programme. It is used in the early stages of curriculum development. when new methods and materials are being tried out it helps to determine the effectiveness of new methods &procedures ,& areas where revision is needed. It is also known as diagnostic evaluation because it measures the progress made by the student during the studies. 7
Ongoing processTo improve instructional
methods and materials so that greater student learning will result.
Provides teacher with quantitative & qualitative data to modify teaching.
Helps student to identify learning difficulties.
Helps teachers to plan according to the needs of students.
It measures the progress or gains made by the students from beginning to the completion of the programme.
• The result of formative evaluation is not used by the teacher to make certifying judgement and the result will not be put any official record.
SUMMATIVE EVALUATION
It is done after the planned curriculum is implemented fully and to determine the degree to which curriculum is effective in meeting the instructional objective . Summative evaluation is concerned with the analysis of an established programme.
Purpose: • To appraise the overall effectiveness of
curriculum programme.
• To select most appropriate curriculum.
• It is done at the end of course to see if students achieved the course objective.
• It is done as a formal list covering the content of the course.

• It protects the society by preventing incompetent personnel from practicing.

ROLE OF TEACHER:
The teacher must be acknowledged in curriculum planning ,he should be allowed freedom in planning experience for pupils.
Teachers must be given adequate opportunities to carry instructional experimentation in the classroom setting so that they can be active in selection of learning materials.
Role of educational organization
They play an important role in planning, developing, implementing, producing instructional materials, textbooks, supplementary reading materials& reconstruction of curriculum.
ROLE OF PARENTS
Parents will be influenced by curriculum developed. Parents if they are qualified ,invovlve them in syllabus modification and evaluation.
