At the request of Chameleon, Element was retained to evaluate the “ChamClad®” heavy-gauge polyvinyl (PVC) siding (HGPS) system for CCMC evaluation purposes. The testing was conducted in accordance with CCMC MasterFormat Number: 07 46 33.07 (Issue Date 2016-02-11; Technical Update: 2019-10-16; Version 02), Section 8.1.3 – Wind Load Resistance referencing Appendix E as outlined in Proposal Number 19-006-124476. Upon receipt and construction, the specimen was assigned the following Element Specimen Number: Client Specimen Description Element Specimen No. ChamClad® Siding (6” Vinyl Siding) 20-06-B0018-WLR-R1 (For CCMC 07 46 33.07, Section 8.1.3, Cladding Performance - Wind Load Resistance)

Note: Photographs documenting the installation for the test wall assembly are located in Appendix B.

3.0 TEST WALL CONSTRUCTION

The test specimen was constructed as outlined in CCMC MasterFormat: 07 46 33.07, Section 8.1.3 referencing Appendix E. All construction details were pre-approved by CCMC in advance as this testing program was intended to evaluate the durability properties of the siding system using unsealed OSB sheathing joints. The 3.0 m (h) x 3.2 m (w) test wall assembly was constructed by Element as per the Chameleon installation guide at Element’s Mississauga facility 4th to 11th, 2020. All materials used (with exception of Chameleon’s provided material) were commercially purchased and CCMC approved. The wind load resistance base wall section consisted of timber studs 51 mm x 152 mm (2” x 6”), and 10.5 mm (7/16”) OSB sheathing. The spacing between each stud section was 406 mm (16”) on-center unless otherwise required to accommodate the sheathing joint locations as outlined in CCMC Technical Guide 07 46 33.07, Appendix E, Figure E2. Wood furring strips of dimensions 19 mm x 38 mm (3/4” x 1-1/2”) were installed along the studs and fastened using 63 mm (2-1/2”) long nails at 200 mm (7-7/8”) on-centre spacing. Each siding panel was installed in accordance with Chameleon’s installation guide using No. 8 x 2” hot dip galvanized screws through the pre-punched flange at 406 mm (16”) on-center. A general construction detail of the wall section constructed is located in Appendix B of this test report. Photographs of the wall sections being clad are located in Appendix B.

The wind load resistance test was conducted in accordance with the setup procedure referenced ASTM E330/E330M-14, Procedure B and in accordance with load profile outlined in CAN/ULC S742. At the request of Chameleon, the following wind pressure loading schedule was applied to the test wall assembly using the wind load level of Q50 ≤ 0.85 as outlined in Table E4.1: Maximum Positive and Negative Pressure of Sustained, Cyclic, and Gust Loads for Non-Post-Disaster Buildings. Sustained Loads (P1 & P1'):

The test wall assembly was subjected to test pressures at 100 Pa increments up to the maximum target test pressure of 850 Pa which was maintained for 1-hour in the positive direction followed by 1-hour in the negative direction. The deformation measurements were taken continuously during pressurisation.

Cyclic Loads (P2 & P2'):

The test wall system was subjected to 2,000 cycles of test pressure. The first 1000 cycles were from 0 to +1240 Pa and was followed by 1000 cycles from 0 to –1240 Pa. The deformation measurements were taken continuously during cycling.

Gust Loads (P3 & P\3'):

The test wall system was subjected to a test pressure of +1850 Pa followed by a test pressure of -1850 Pa. These test pressures were held for a minimum of 3 seconds. The maximum deformation readings were taken acquired for each gust pressure.

Upon completing the test loads above and at the request of Chameleon, the following wind pressure loading schedule was applied to the test wall assembly using the wind load level of Q50 ≤ 1.00 as outlined in Table E6.1: Maximum Wind Pressures for Deflection Measurements for Non-Post-Disaster Buildings. The specimen was subjected to increasing test pressure up to the maximum target pressure of 2180 Pa in both positive and negative cases and held for 10 seconds. The deflection readings were recorded and the pressure was released. Note: During wind load resistance testing, all loads (both positive & negative) were applied directly to the

cladding material using a 6-mil plastic sheet which transferred the loads to the supporting structure.
