Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine is aimed at females between the ages of 16-21. This shows that I have aimed my magazine at different areas of society. To show that I have aimed my magazine at this target audience is:
•The main image on the front cover of my magazine: My main image is of a young female who represents RnB genre and shows that my magazine is aimed at young females. She is dominant in my magazine and represents teenagers and young adults.•Colour scheme: The main colours of my magazine are black, white and pink. This shows the gender my magazine is aimed at as stereotypically pink is a female colour. Also these colours represent the genre of my magazine as they at shocking, bright and dark sides to this genre and it also represents the typical personalities of my target audience.
•Sub- Culture: The sub culture my magazine represents is hoodies and urban culture. My target audience are young and have interest in the RnB genre. A typical female who likes RnB music would wear straight/ baggy jeans, hoodie and t-shirt, wear Vans and always listening to music. They would be simple independent individuals who do what they like to do. They will also have interest in street dance.
•Double page spread: My article also shows that I have aimed this at females as the article is about two young good looking male artists and also has a poster involved. This shows that females like to have posters of their favorite artists.
All these points follow the connotations of music magazines as they are all taken into consideration when creating them. Also the social group it is aimed at, the producer of the magazine has to make sure that the magazine has involved all the features needed to produce an RnB music magazine. I have involved everything in my magazine that interests my target audience, the proof of this is my audience feedback results.
