R&P TECHNOLOGY #1 – GOOGLE FILM SEARCH

This technology allowed for quick, easy and proficient access to information regarding the film names of certain film companies or genres.

We mainly used this technology for finding examples of other horror films that various distributioncompanies and production companies had produced and/or distributed. This was especially useful when we were deciding over which distribution company to use.

As above, you can see that the distribution companyof choice had lots of previous horror films, which we knew due to this technology.

R&P TECHNOLOGY #2 – SLIDESHARE

This technology was also very useful during our research and planning stages. Slideshare is an online resource used to distribute and share PowerPoint presentations online.

This technology was used in finding key information regarding our choice of distribution companies, as there were many resources that provided information on the type of films that various companies distribute, along with some examples, which we found extremely useful when researching our choice for distribution company.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY #1 – FOCUS BLUR

We found this technology to be extremely useful and effective within the construction of our opening sequence.

This tool was provided via Final Cut Pro X, as the effect was a ‘built-in’ preset for the program.

We used this tool on a number of our scenes within our opening sequence, as it created a blur around the edges of the screen which allowed the audience to focus on the main character or action in the center of the shot, which promoted our good framing.

EVALUATION TECHNOLOGY #1 – POWERPOINT

This technology was used for Evaluation question 6, as it provided a clear and viable platform for the information we provided about our technologies.

This technology allows for a platform that contains multiple slides, which can be edited, and changed in order to suit the theme of your presentation. For our use, we imported lots of images, and had many slides. This technology allowed us to do this.

We used this technology in order to look at past film releases, and is specific, the opening sequences of those films. This technology is extremely useful as it has a huge collection of different films ranging over 50 years, the website allows people to view the opening credits of all these movies with ease.We used this technology to gain inspiration and ideas from past horror opening sequences, this website was essential in getting many of the ideas in which we used within our own opening sequence.

The website is also very useful for taking screenshots, as due to the feature of screenshotting on apple devices, we were able to take quick screenshots and grabs for use in our blog assignments.

This technology also proved to be very useful for us. This technology was used primarily for all our assignments regarding target audiences and demographics. This technology is an excellent source of information, as it provides key info for the target demographics for past films, we used this to look at past horror films and therefore base our target audience of this information. We also used this technology to look at psychographics, as it provided information on the audience’s lifestyle, personality, brands and many more factors that were useful to our research.

This technology was used various times throughout the construction of our opening sequence. This tool is also a ‘built-in’ tool within the program, Final Cut Pro X.

This technology was used primarily by Luca, as he understood it, due to previous experience with this program. The tool allowed us to change the timing of fades, effects and colour correction, So that the effects either appeared or disappeared at a certain point in time, which made our opening sequence look professional.

We mainly used this tool to change the timing of the appearance and disappearance of our credits, as we did not like the timing of the preset text effects, se we created our own, which made our sequence more creative.

Page 11: Evaluation Q6

CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY #2 – PHOTOSHOPThis technology was also used briefly within our construction of our opening sequence. Luca, again, was the main operator of this program, due to previous experience with the software also. This tool was used to create the images that were used within the start of our opening sequence.

More specifically, this software was used to create the BBFC credit at the start of the sequence, which showed the rating for the film, and also the credit with every group member’s candidate number. This was done easily, due to the elaborate, yet effective text tool within Adobe Photoshop.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY #1 – TRAILS

This technology was used within the construction of our opening sequence, it was essential to creating a professional and accurate opening sequence. This technology was also pre-built into the program, Final Cut Pro X.

This effect was used in order to show the victim waking up, this was essential, as without this effect the scene would lack purpose and also potentially, confuse and distract the audience which would remove suspense.

This created a ‘dazed’ effect which reinforce the way in which the victim had woken up from the injection.

This effect’s settings was also changed to lessen the strength as the victim woke up, which made the opening sequence extremely realistic and professional.

This technology was also used extensively through both blog work and also for evaluation question 4.

This technology allowed for a clean, clear and effective presentation. This technology also allowed for a more creative experience as the presentation can be made to move vertically or horizontally.

R&P TECHNOLOGY #2 – DAFONT

This technology was used find the perfect font for our text within our credits for the opening sequence. The technology had the choice of millions of fonts that had been created by expert designers.

This tool was also used within the construction process of our opening sequence. This tool was also pre built within our editing program, Final Cut Pro X.

This was the most used tool within the program, as it was used to cut all of our clips, in order to trim the correct parts of the clips, and to fit them onto the timeline.

The tool was easily accessible, and became very straightforward to use after a few sessions of editing. This tool allowed us to create our sequence, as without it, the sequence would be poor and look very unprofessional.
