Logo

Here we have used the logo of the band, this is done to advertise the band to the viewers and is a USP, this will help our band to stand out and be commercially successful.

Music-Visuals relationship

Here We have used on-beat editing; the train appears at the same time as both a guitar is strung and a kick is played. This is an example of the convention of the relationship between the music and the visuals.

Inter-textuality

Here the main character of the music video is wearing a “V For Vendetta” mask. This is an inter-textual reference to the film “V For Vendetta” and is also part of the star persona of the lead singer of the band

Performance

Here one of the singers in the band is lip-syncing to the lyrics. This is using the convention of having elements of performance within the music video and advertises the band by having the artists in the video.

Voyeurism

Our music video also uses the convention of voyeurism as in the shots below characters are being watched but seem not to be aware of it. This makes viewers feel like they are viewing a story, which they are.

Lyrics relate to visuals

Here we use the convention of lyrics relating to visuals as we show footage of the sun as the line “A dirty sun will burn away” is sung. This is done to take advantage of the imagery within the lyrics for the music video.

Demands of the record label Here is a close-up of one of the band

members. This would be a requirement from the record label as close-ups help to promote the artist and make them more recognisable.

Magazine advert

In our magazine advert we followed conventions by having consistency between the products. An example of this is the font used as this is the same as the font used in part of the digipak. The USP of the artist; the mask is also shown in the magazine advert and this can be found on the front cover of the digipak. We have followed conventions by placing the album title on the advert and placing information on where the product may be purchased from. We have also given a rating by a magazine that our target audience of rock fans would be interested in. We have also placed the logo of the record company that the album is released by and therefore meet the demands of the record label. We have placed an image of the artist on the advert as this increases awareness of the artist.

Digipak

In our digipak we have used consistency with our other products by using the image of the mask and images of fire. These help to express the star persona. We have followed conventions by including a track listing, a DVD listing, information on runtime, and a copyright warning within. We have also placed our logo which is a USP and helps stay consistent with the bands image.
