Mise en scene The general idea was to dress my model

appropriate and relative to my target audience. The front cover features my model wearing typical attire for the genre of my magazine of a simple black and white jacket (with a serious facial expression)- this gives an instant impression and allows the readers to tell the genre though visual recognition.

My contents page consisted of a young male with a plain black tee with a black, again conforming to stereotypes of young people, as well as being able to tell the genre through visual recognition.

The double page spread was to emphasise his body language, which is slightly aggressive and very serious, all engaging with the target audience by direct mode of address as well as open body language to entice the audience to read more.

• I used a medium shot in my contents in order to create a connection with the reader as you can see his facial expression as well as his body language. He is also clearly 16-24 years old and therefore connect to my target audience.

• The medium close up on my front cover gives off no facial expression and no emotion, making the artist seem very serious and intimidating this reinforces the hegemonic stereotype of the aggressive young black male which some of my main target audience could relate to ( young black male). This again engages with the audience more as it creates a potential role model

Photo Shots • Again I used a

medium shot in my double page spread which again connects with the audience, furthermore relates to the front page image so is easily recognisable.

• Eye line shots. This creates a direct mode of address providing a personal relationship between the model and the reader ( the target audience of teens/young adults).

• Fonts & Colour Schemes the fonts I used were meant to be simplistic, bold and basic, this was to help reach out to a wider audience , I used my colour scheme which is red, blue, white and black .I believe it effectively reflects my target audience, which is 16 to 24 year old males

Ideology

Within my production I prioritised the reception theory with the ability to relate the audience and their age to the featured artists in the magazine. This creates a personal relationship between the reader and artist which entices the reader and can create a fan base through the relation between reader and magazine.

This was achieved by shot positing such as direct mode of address and confident posing which creates as image that my target audience would aspire to

Furthermore the informality of text similar to Source and XXL can grab the target audience through relation in the text and increase the likelihood of them receiving the message and marinating the readers attention

Conclusion

• I think my music magazine is easily recognisable and potentially appealing to someone who is specifically into Hip-Hop music and culture. I feel my magazine would be popular in this social group as Hip – Hop is very recognisable genre as it is publicised in the media through celebrities and big music artist such as Chris Brown and Drake

My overall layout, relates to my age range of 16- 24 as well as both genders this is because the colours of all 3 constructions vary from black and white to bright blue and bright red.

Furthermore I have included a two different ethnicities as well as the youth who both look working class. This allows my magazine to engage with a larger target audience of young working class people of different ethnicities.
