How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Page 2: Evaluation Question 2

During the design process of my three products, I made certain there was at least one recurring motif to establish a brand style for my promotional package.

I chose the London Eye, as featured in my music video, to be this recurring motif. Whilst I have used the same object in the different products, I have altered the shot types and angles to make it more interesting than just reusing the same image. For my digipak, the photograph is also edited but the recurring motif is still easily recognisable. This helps link the three products visually. The aim for this is that someone who sees the poster, then sees the digital on a shelf, this recurring motif will link the two together. This will also go on to the music video. In YouTube’s search function one can set a custom ‘thumbnail image’. I would use this recurring motif so that my audience can link the music video to the rest of my promotional package.

Another recurring motif is the use of the same font throughout my promotional package. This recurring motif further suggests that the products have an element of unity to them and links the products as a package rather than entirely separate products. I feel this is a crucial part to making the three products effective as a promotional package.

Overall, I think the package is rather effective at promoting the artist. It contains recurring motifs which have set a house style.

Whilst the indie genre has few conventional colours, the colour choice I have made is quite appealing to fans as it is rather neutral and open to my audience drawing their own connotations. This colour scheme is continued throughout the three products thus further linking them together as a package.
