What have you learnt about technologies from

the process of constructing this product?

iMac and MacbookWe used an iMac to research and put together our final video using installed programs like Final Cut Pro.

We used a Macbook and Google images to find pictures of Tiffany’s “ex boyfriend”. We then printed them out and used them as a prop in our final film.

I also used Google Maps on my Macbook to research location ideas and screenshot them and upload to my blog, to show the other people in my group the area, rather than spending more time visiting the place.

We also used the search engines on the iMac and Macbook such as Google, to go onto Youtube and download videos using a video converter website. We used the downloaded videos for research and inspiration.

Final Cut ProThis was my first time using Final Cut Pro! I learnt how to…

I learnt how to import media taken on our camera.

I learnt how to record a voiceover and import it into our film, and edit it by cutting and fading, and changing the volume. We also downloaded music from online and added it in.

I learnt how to edit the image on screen for example we changed the colour warmth in our original bathroom scene. We also used match colour to balance the brightness in the science lab scene.

I also learnt to add in titles and chose the font and size ect. and use the transitions to change how they appear. To make our title we downloaded this varsity font from

dafont.com onto the iMac, then we typed the title onto the scene in the opening and chose the font we downloaded. We then chose a typewriter transition and edited the colour and size.

iPhone

We used the Whatsapp app on our iPhones to communicate and share ideas for our film and stay organised when deciding when to film.

I used my iphone to take this panoramic picture of my bedroom for an idea for our location. I was then able to send this to my media group which saved time, rather than them all coming to my house to check the location.

We also took pictures on the first filming day, and uploaded it onto my blog to document what we did

We used an iPhone in our film because it is common for teenage girls to be texting each other

We also recorded the voiceover for our film as a voice memo on our phones, then used Bluetooth to airdrop it from our phone to the iMac, which we were then able to put onto Final Cut Pro and edit.

Nikon CameraI learnt how to focus the camera manually and on the automatic setting. In this scene the clock is in focus and the objects in the background are more blurred, focusing the attention on the time

We also used the tripod and wheels so that the camera was more stable and we could angle the shots using it. We could move around smoothly and there wasn’t as much need to stabilise on Final Cut Pro

We also used the Nikon to take still images to create a montage sequence for our opening, however we rejected this idea as we preferred the idea of a fast paced opening

We used the camera to experiment with different shot types for example we did a close up of Brittany’s face in the bathroom, and a wide shot when she leaves the house.

Social MediaWe used Survey Monkey to do a demographic survey, and then shared the link with people on our blogs, Twitter and Facebook so that we got more responses.

We used BlogSpot to post our research, planning and evaluation ideas together. It made it easier to communicate and share with others to get more responses and feedback. On this post I shared my idea for a location and was able to include screenshots from Google Maps. The other students in my group were able to leave comments on the post in response to my idea. This was helpful and is a quick way to let us stay organised.

We also used Youtube to research different teen films and get inspiration and ideas for our opening. We also used it to listen to different songs to get ideas for the type of music that fits our genre of film. We also used Youtube to upload our audience feedback video and our final opening video, which we were then able to encrypt onto our blogs. Making the videos public on Youtube allowed other people to watch it and provide feedback for the evaluation
