Camera work

The first piece of technology we had to be able to use was a camera. With limited amount of experience with the use of a camera, we found it very helpful in developing our experience and knowledge of using a camera.

The most important thing that I learned was the different variety of camera angles and shots. This would be very important to think carefully because in task 11, preliminary task we had difficulties in filming different camera angles in a single shot.

However the preliminary task was very helpful when we filmed are opening sequence. Having a shot list was very important in planning different camera angles and shots because it made our product look more professional.

Camera work

On the first day of filming we didn’t use a tripod effectively as it made shots shaky and unprofessional looking. After reviewing the footage we practiced improving these types of shots in school by practicing ‘match on action’

To improve our footage we decided to film the opening sequence again which allowed us to use the tripod effectively and allow us to add more variety of camera angles and shots. We also gave ourselves more time so we could film lots of different shots at different angles which will imporve the quality of our opening sequence.

Online programmesThroughout the planning and production of our opening sequence I have kept regularly updates on my blog which include footage, diaries of our editing and planning for filming our opening sequence which keeps track on what we have done during the time of producing the film.

This has been very helpful for me as it shows a week by week update on the progress made and the improvements we can make to our product. This also shows the speed of which we have developed our ideas into the production of our opening sequence.

I found online programmes like ‘blogger’, ‘prezi’ and ‘slideshare’ very useful and helpful in helping me track my progress throughout the planning and research to the production of the opening sequence. These programmes present my work in a more creative way and make it more engaging to read.

EditingAfter filming for the second time we managed to film about 2 hours worth of footage. This took about 4-5 hours to cut down the footage we wanted to use for our opening sequence.

To edit our product we used ‘Imovie’ to edit most of our opening sequence. Imovies has a lot of positive aspects but also some negative aspects.

The programme made dropping clips into the exact position we want very easy, we could also use transmission to help end our opening sequence to show a clear ending.

On the other hand Imovie didn’t allow us to position text wherever we wanted and did cause some issues. We had to use different text templates in order to get the text into the positions we wanted. This made the editing a lot longer than we thought.
