Evaluation: What have you learnt from audience feedback? Audience feedback is a very important/vital part of the production process and must always be considered before making final decisions, Before beginning the construction of my media products I produced a questionnaire that, when I gathered the feedback, allowed me to have a better understanding of who my target audience was and what they wanted from my media product giving me a great foundation to build from and create my products. I gave my questionnaire to 25 people that I felt were within the range of who my target audience would be based on gender and age. Questions were based on how many times people watch music videos a week, what media platforms they watch music videos on, what they enjoy seeing in a music video etc. From this I gathered my feedback in a group of graphs that are presented on my blog. The questionnaire enabled me to be aware of what my target audiences current favourite music videos were which was really beneficial to me as I researched/watched the majority of these videos and identified the similarities and conventions that all shared so that I could incorporate some of these features into my own work. The videos I looked into that gave me the most inspiration/ideas were- want u back by cher Lloyd and we found love by Rhianna.

Audience feedback is a very important/vital part of the production process and must always be considered before making final decisions,

Before beginning the construction of my media products I produced a questionnaire that, when I gathered the feedback, allowed me to have a better understanding of who my target audience was and what they wanted from my media product giving me a great foundation to build from and create my products.

Both feature many different shot types and changes in Mise en scene that made the video exciting and something that I wanted to try and produce in my own way. I feel that I have shown this in my own music video as I did focus on the look of the performer and the settings in which I used- all of which I feel worked really well together to present a conventional and exciting pop music video.

I have featured a range of different special effects such as speed- slowing down and speeding up footage and changing the colours of the video to create a very exciting effect.

Another type of audience feedback I got can be seen in my typical audience profile of which allowed me to gain some more personal knowledge on what someone who would be my prime type of audience is attracted by. I found out some of her current favourite artists- all of which were of the pop genre and what attracts her to a music video- which was the appearance of the artist in terms of clothing, hair and makeup. This audience feedback allowed me to look into more technical aspects of my audience (psychographics

I got some more audience feedback after I had finished all of my planning. I showed a range of people within my target audience, as well as some parents of young girls, my treatment and filming plans as well as explaining to them some extra details. I then asked them what they thought was good and what I could improve on. The majority of feedback I got was very positive, commenting on my choice of setting, Mise en scene, colours and shot types which assured me of many things. Some more constructive feedback I got was that I needed to make sure my music video was fluent in that it all went well together due to the fact I used a fair amount of different clips. Someone mentioned the focus on femininity that they thought I should change slighting to widen my audience- I done this through adding some more ‘cooler’ shots such as under the water and the sparkler shots that are more equal in terms of the stereotypical separations between the males and females as an audience. Someone also mentioned that I shouldn’t go overboard with the focus on my marketing scheme which was going to be based around guy Fawkes time. They said that “the album and video must be popular all year round- focusing too much on one aspect can be very risky.” This really made me think about some of the shots I was including in my video of which before the audience feedback- I was going to use more sparkler and fire work shots of which I restricted to one chorus and the bridge of the song, I am very happy with this decision I made and has made me appreciate the importance of audience feedback even more. For this feedback I just spoke to people normally instead of using a questionnaire method. Although research in this way makes it harder to gather and show my feedback, I feel I gained more of an insight into what people thought as there were no restrictions on questions and answers.

Again, due to deadlines, I was unable to get detailed feedback from my audience on my website however I did ask some teachers and classmates to give me any improvements and they said that I should include a merchandise section. Merchandise is a very conventional part of music websites nowadays and therefore this feedback was extremely helpful in making my website better.
