1. Swasthavrutta department of Shri Gulabkunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalay inititated the seed for Institute for Naturopathy-Yoga and Physiotherapy (I.N.Y.P) in the year 1995 as a self supported independent institute, which kept on developing to form a full-fledged independent self financed Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga Naturopathy Education and Research from the year 2000 onwards.

Every year Admission for BAMS is done through Central Admission Committee for

Professional Medical Educational courses, B.J.Medical College, Ahmedabad (Website:

www.medadmbjmc.in ). No permission granted from CCIM for the academic year 2011-2012

and 2012-2013. New courses/programmes in the form of USCE have been started giving

wider scope of knowledge.

a. Faculty on curriculum as well as teaching-learning-evaluation? If yes, how

does the department utilize the feedback?

Yes, feedback is collected through departmental meetings .

The views on the curriculum, teaching schedules, teaching tools, and

student assessment outcomes are discussed for taking improvement

measures. Internal assessment among the staff members is discussed and

ways to improve quality of teaching learning and evaluation methods are

adopted.

b. Students on staff, curriculum and teaching-learning-evaluation and how

does the department utilize the feedback?

Yes, student feedbacks are collected for feedback on department as a

whole and staff as individuals. The finer points of the feedback are

summarized and suitable improvement measures adopted accordingly.

c. Alumni and employers on the programmes offered and how does the

department utilize the feedback?

Yes, feedback from the alumni is received through emails, letters and

word of mouth during their periodical visit to the institution.

Institute has a regular feedback mechanism of its teachers from its existing batch of

students. The Staff Councils of the departments peruse through the feedback, and

assess their merit for brainstorming over improvements in the overall teaching-

learning segment. Alumni feedback is still in its informal stage with some

departments on the campus having their formed Alumni body and feedback

mechanism. Suggestions, deficiencies at the institutional level are addressed by

timely initiatives for strengthening the teaching learning process.

Departmental scrutiny is carried out by the Teacher appraisal committee. It calls for

intervention in case of teachers rated poorly by students. These teachers have to

undergo a quality enhancement and capacity building workshop to improve their

teaching skills. When representation from a particular student is received as a

grievance, the matter is placed before the Vice-Chancellor and necessary help is

provided to the student.

There is a provision for tutorials/remedial sessions and additional internal

assessment examination („improvement‟ examination) for the students.

Eminent academicians and subject experts from various parts of India and abroad

are invited for interactive lectures, seminars. Funds from AYUSH, RAV are used

periodically to organize short lectures, workshops, seminars and field trips. Experts

from other National institutions are invited to deliver theme-based lectures.

The College has many endowments, which are useful in inviting various experts

from different parts of the country. This helps students to get exposed to various

latest developments in the field. The topics on core curriculum are taught by the

regular Full-time faculty. Topics on add on curriculum are taught by adjunct faculty

and selective topics of contemporary and long term interest are dealt by visiting

faculty from MP Shah Medical College Jamnagar.

The objectives of the department are met by monitoring the results from

periodic assessment (tests conducted), feedback forms are obtained from the

Creating health related awareness through Ayurved among the general population and also doing the maximum possible treatment under free of cost.

Extension activities in the form of NSS activities are carried out to promote heritage consciousness. Details mentioned in 5.3.2.
