"I DO WHAT I DO AND I’VE DONE WHAT I’VE DONE BECAUSE I’M EVEL KNIEVEL. AND I DON’T

QUESTION IT." I’ve said this many times. But there’s a part of my life now that has been taken

over by a menace to society: Hepatitis C, contracted through one of many blood transfusions I’ve

endured as a result of injuries sustained through my years of performing. The hepatitis destroyed

my liver, and I was given five years to live unless I underwent a liver transplant. That is if a liver

was found in time, if my body would tolerate it, and if I could afford it. Now, although I've always

been a fighter, this one got me down and I did question the Higher Power for a moment. But a

positive mental attitude has gotten me everything I ever had in life and through every obstacle

with which life continues to challenge me, and it didn’t desert me now. On January 27, 1999,

I received a new liver. I still ran the risk of infection, rejection and more, but 14 days later I was up

and about, getting my strength back. People like to call me a hero and praise me for all that I’ve

done. But the real hero here is a young man who died in his 20s and gave me his liver so I could

live again. I don't even know him, yet I love him. I hope to find his family and thank them for this

incredible gift! In thanks and love I also plan to donate two percent of sales through the Evel

Knievel Collection to the Hepatitis C Foundation. So feel confident that your dollars spent here will

be at work elsewhere helping others suffering from this disease.
