Wonder
5/6C are studying the rich Text of WONDER. Our plan is to read the book, then at the end of the Term watch the movie and discuss the difference and similarities between the two. Here is an activity that we have completed where the students have had to come up with describing words about August, who is the main character.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the parent information session on Thursday at 5.30pm.Mrs Tami Chadderton.
Dear parents, carers and community members,Welcome to the 2020 school year as we continue the journey of learning together at Casino West Public School. I am very excited to have been successful in the selection process for principal and I thank everyone for welcoming me back. I look forward to continuing Casino West Public School’s development of excellence in learning in partnership with the whole school community.
What a wonderful start to school seeing all of the students happy and excited to return and looking very smart in their school uniforms! Thank you to all families for having students turn up ready to learn and follow school values.
We have a high expectations learning environment at Casino West Public School with excellent student wellbeing support, as a result of the efforts of our wonderful staff. This year we will be growing our capacity to further support excellence in learning for all of our students and introducing a number of initiatives supporting arts education (dance, art, music, etc).
Casino West is a Positive Behaviour for Learning school and all members of our school community honour the values of being safe, responsible and respectful in our pursuit of learning and in our relationships with each other. All classes have discussed what this will look like as learners in the classroom and in the playground. Positive student behaviour is recognised with platy tickets which are given out by staff. There is a draw for 4 x $2.00 canteen vouchers (2 primary, 2 infants) each Monday at assembly. We have already had 4 recipients this week, well done everyone!
Don’t forget that we have a great canteen with hard working volunteers who can provide your children with a healthy lunch. The canteen has to abide by health guidelines and only volunteers who are rostered to work are allowed in the canteen so please order through the windows provided.
Attendance is an essential part of students having access to their learning, even students turning up late can miss out on important instruction for the day. Please see the information diagram on page four. To support positive attendance we are putting in place an attendance reward each term. Students will be eligible if they attend school for at least 90% of the term, this gives a 5 day leeway for students who are ill or need to have a day away for an appointment etc.
As always please contact the school if you have any questions and we look forward to watching our students shine and having a productive year working with you all.Have a great week.
Lesley Mills Principal.
