Dear Friends:

I give thanks to God for you. I counted eight letters of the apostle Paul where he gave thanks

to God for the people he was writing his letters to. That would be most of his writings. Having

someone thank the Lord for us is a remarkable honor. We are encouraged to give thanks to

God always and for all things, including those around us. Of course, the season of

Thanksgiving is a great reminder for this... if we indeed do need to be reminded.

The practice of giving thanks to God, an "attitude of gratitude," is the springboard into giving

thanks for all other things He has blessed us with, including the people in our lives. Here are

some verses I have come across to remind and encourage us to be central in our thanksgiving

to our great and awesome God:

"I will praise God's name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving" (Psalm 69: 30).

"We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, for Your Name is near;

men (and women) tell of Your wonderful deeds" (Psalm 75: 1).

"Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song"

(Psalm 95: 1-2).

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him

and praise His name" (Psalm 100: 4).

"Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has

done" (Psalm 105: 1).

"Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for

men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things" (Psalm 107: 8-9).

"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good. His love endures forever" (Psalm 136: 1).

Again, I thank my God for each and every one of you. Have a great month and a HAPPY

THANKSGIVING!!

To all my aunties, uncles,

Grammies, and grandpas at

LWEPC,

I really really love all my special gifts! Mommy

called it her baby shower in a box. Daddy was

happy about the wipes and diapers cause he’s

on diaper duty.

I can’t wait to come see you!! Mom thinks

you’re all incredible.

The Pastor

Selection

Committee

has been very

active over the

past month.

Numerous

applications

have been

received and

prayerfully considered. Several have

had an initial "call back" and we are

moving into Round 2 of the interview

process with multiple highly qualified

candidates. All are amazing examples of

God's love and incredible believers that

no doubt would teach, lead, serve and

challenge our congregation spiritually.

We still would covet your prayers that

God would lead us all to a unanimous

decision and we can welcome the next

Living Waters Pastor, that He has

already selected for us, in His time. May

His Will be done! Please also pray for

all the applicants and their families, who

are searching or considering a new call.

Pray that they would be led by the Lord

to their new positions and locations,

where they can touch the most lives

living the Word.

We would like to

thank the Deacons

and Fellowship

Committee and

everyone who

provided great food

for the Staff

Appreciation Potluck. And thank you so

much for the encouraging notes, baked

goods, and fun gift cards. We are

blessed by our Kingdom Family!

Love,

Pastor Kev and Raylz

Dear Church Family,

Thank you for acknowledging the

church staff along with our pastor with

the potluck, gifts, and cards. It is a

privilege to serve God, but even more

so when that involves such wonderful

and appreciative people as are in our

church family.

Gratefully,

Annette Hornbacher, Debbie Wensink

Advent Decorating will be

Saturday, November 23rd

beginning at 9 am.

Come if you can!

HELPING HEARTS AND HANDS

CHRISTMAS BASKETS

Living Waters will be collecting coffee,

individually

wrapped tea bags,

and deodorant to

include in the 250

Christmas baskets

that Helping Hearts and Hands

distributes. We will be collecting these

November 24th through December 15th.

BE THANKFUL

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.

If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for

improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and

character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary, because it means you’ve made a difference.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who

are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,

and they can become your blessings.

Operation Christmas Child

Have you gotten your Christmas shopping done? It's not too early, at

least in preparation of a shoebox gift for Operation Christmas Child! Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered shoebox gifts packed by caring people like you to more than 113 million children around the world. You may not think that a shoebox full of gifts would have a big impact on a child in a foreign land, but it speaks volumes to these kids. Consider that they may never have received a gift anything like this, and it comes with a wonderful message of a loving God who cares for them. In many cases, it plants a seed, which grows into acceptance of Christ, not only for themselves, but their whole family.

Planning Your Shoebox There are many things that you can put in your shoebox gift. These items can be entertaining, useful, practical, and educational. A few things you may consider are; balls, yo-yo’s, small stuffed animals, dolls or Slinkys, hard candy, clothing items, combs or brushes, school supplies or art supplies, colored pencils and crayons, coloring books, and blank notebooks. There are some items which should not be included-such items as: toys with a war theme or toys that are based on weapons, liquids or lotions which may spill and make a mess, candy which may melt, and items which would be too fragile. Please visit www.samaritanspurse.org/for complete suggestions on packing your shoebox gift. You may also wish to write a short note or sign a Christmas card, and you may even send a picture of your child or your family.

Collection Time The shoebox gifts will be collected and taken to local collection centers the week before Thanksgiving, November 18-25, so they can be moved to regional collection centers, where they are gone through and prepared for shipping. We would like people to deliver their shoebox gifts to Living Waters Evangelical Presbyterian Church a week or two before collection week, and we will pray over the gifts and dedicate them November 24th before we take them to the collection center.

Dear Pastor Anderson, staff & flock,

Thank you so much for providing the

bench and quiet garden for this weary

traveler. While visiting my daughter

and grandkids this past summer, an

incident happened which shook me to

my core! All I wanted to do was get

on a plane and return to S. C. [South

Carolina]. While my grandkids

attended swimming lessons next door

to your church, I felt a need to walk.

The uneven ball field area was not

conducive for a fast walk. I spotted

the church parking lot and began my

walk on the pavement. I soon spotted

the beautiful lavender, then the bench

and the stone. What peace, a glorious

peace as I sat watching the

butterflies,

prayed, and

recited, “Be Still

and Know I am

God.” I will be

forever grateful

for this small

token of the love and connection I felt

that day in July to my Lord and

Savior! Please accept this donation

for the upkeep of the “garden” and

know I will return next summer—

God willing.

Sincerely, Teresa Roberson

Vision Team

At the September 29th Vision Team meeting, the team talked

about the wonderful success of the September 27th

5th Quarter on Friday night after Wendell’s home football

game. Sixty-five students attended, had a blast eating 20

pizzas, s’mores, and much more. They stayed for one and a

half hours playing corn hole, sitting around under the

pavilion talking, laughing, and having a great time. When they were all together,

Pastor Kevin shared with them specifically who we are as a church, and why we

were doing this in the name of our great God who absolutely loves them. We

believe in them and want them to know we are there for them as friends and as a

church. Pastor Kevin then led them in a prayer for the meal. The students were

all so very grateful for the evening.

The Vision Team is planning on our church co-sponsoring,

with other local churches, and the school district, a

Halloween “Trunk or Treat” in the high school parking lot;

a fun and safe alternative for children of the community.

The Vision Team is working with our local American Legion to help and

participate in “Wreaths Across America” placing Christmas wreaths on

the 403 graves honoring the veterans laid to rest in our community’s

cemetery.

The Vision Team is planning on sponsoring Teacher Gift Bags for

all the teachers in our school district in February (around

Valentine’s Day) to honor them, to thank them, and to encourage

them to finish the school year strong.

The Vision Team plans to challenge our church to sponsor two more

5th Quarters during the upcoming winter’s basketball season to be

held in our Youth Room.

Friends, please keep praying for our outreach

to the Wendell community

in the name of Jesus. Thank you so much.

The vision team, after prayer and discussion with people from the Wendell American

Legion Post 41, decided to be a community partner and help with Wreaths Across

America.

Their mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach. This year’s theme: Everyone Plays A Part

What is Wreaths Across America?

1992 - First wreaths (5,000) were donated by Worcester Family

2005 - Iconic photo of wreaths became a viral sensation; Worcester sends 7 wreaths to every state, one for each branch of the military

2007 - Wreaths Across America formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization

2012 - 1 millionth wreath placed at Arlington National Cemetery

2014 - For the first time, every headstone at Arlington National Cemetery received a wreath (227,000 wreaths)

2015 - 901,000 wreaths placed worldwide

2018 - Mission advances overseas with the first placement of 9,387 veteran’s wreaths at Normandy-American Cemetery in France

This year Wreaths Across America is being held Saturday, December 14, 2019. Wendell has 403 wreaths to be placed. How you can help:

Sponsor a wreath. For only $15.00 you can sponsor a wreath to honor a veteran. See Lori Johnston, Clayton Clifton, or Harlan Wensink to sponsor a wreath.

Volunteer to help place wreaths on veteran’s graves at the Wendell Cemetery (stay tuned for more information.)

Remember our fallen U.S. veterans.

Honor those who serve.

Teach your children the value

of freedom.
