5Together weve travelled the world for many years constantly searching for perfect trails and the best powder descents. We have discovered many fantastic spots and perfect runs even in the most remote locations on this planet.

It wasn t always easy finding the right equipment for our trips. It was particularly hard to find backpacks and bags on the market that met our requirements. So our solution was to make them ourselves!

This is how we started developing and producing equipment that met our

requirements, initially only for our-selves and our friends. The result was a range of high-quality, sophisticated products with refined details and clever features that looked good as well. What we had not expected was the increasing number of people who wanted our gear.

So, in 2008, the idea of founding our own company was born.

Since then a lot has changed for us, but then again very little has changed. We continue to focus on uncom-promising quality, functionality and durability to set the standard in terms

of design, comfort and safety. We still travel the world as much as we can with our sports equipment mean-while, often also with our business gear. In doing so, we test all our products ourselves and we invest a great deal of time and energy in optimizing our solutions down to the smallest details.

We communicate our passion for sports and for what we do in every product. Thats why EVOC products are always a bit more than just pieces of equipment.

EVOC TRIP

Bali is a huge playground for biking enthusiasts! Im currently building a bike park in the jungle and keep finding more trails on the crater rimof the volcano, gushed our partner Alex, who owns the cool Chillhouse hotel. Volcano? Bali? Sounds exciting. Were on our way.

Bali is known for its exotic scenery and laid-back atmosphere, for terrific surfing, stunningly beautiful yoga retreats and now also for a creative lifestyle. But mountain biking? A few weeks later we found ourselves shouldering our mountain bikes in the blazing heat of Bali on the Eastern crater edge of the Batur volcano. The inspiration for this torturous undertaking: the incredible sunrise!

We follow a winding path past a mystical temple. Deep grooves have formed in the sandy trail in front of us, and its becoming narrower, steeper and more pathless by the minute. There is no chance of remembering a good line for the downhill ride.

Our headlamps illuminate the steep, slippery crater peak when we finally reach the 1717 metre high top. In fact, the moon beat us to it.

The next morning, a band of curious little monkeys wakes us up by scratching our tent. With a spicy noodle soup breakfast we really do get to experience one of the most beautiful sunrises ever.The downhill ride then forces us to shift into a high

concentration gear only the flip-flop wearing locals know their way around the rutted curves and the labyrinth of shortcuts. Hand over hand we make our way from bend to bend, and the smiles on our faces become broader and broader. Smooth and flowing, and then exciting and steep again the volcano trail turns out to be a true highlight. But this is only the beginning of our Bali bike trip.

The airflow during our downhill rides provides relief from the 35-degrees heat. In the evening we gather at the beach, happy and exhausted. We relive our adventurous downhill ride while the locals surf into the sunset. Actually, how about going surfing? After all, thats what Bali is famous for.

BIKING IS OUR PASSION. THIS IS WHY WE ARE CONSTANTLY SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONS THAT MAKE BIKE RIDING THAT LITTLE BIT SAFER AND MORE COMFORTABLE. ONE OF OUR HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE 2016 BIKE SEASON: THE STAGE SERIES.

In the development of the STAGE SERIES we put great emphasis on creating backpacks with sophisticated technical features which provide optimal support, and at the same time form a unit with the bike rider. A secure, body-hugging fit and maximum air ventilation were the key focus, without the backpacks appearing overloaded. That is why the design is relatively clean while still offering enough space for equipment, and safe storage options for everything you dont need immediately at hand. The AIR FLOW CONTACT SYSTEM ensures maximum back ventilation while the backpack sits as close to the riders back as possible. This keeps control of load distribution and provides for excellent freedom of movement on the bike. You hardly feel the pack on your back. The BRACE LINK that small piece of metal also influences carrying comfort consider-ably. Its the connecting link between backpack and shoulder strap and enables the carrying system to adapt to the riders individual shoulder width.

STAGE is our extremely technical and versatile PERFORMANCE BACKPACK series: backpacks for those who know no compromise when it comes to carrying comfort and back ventilation during biking. The pack boasts top-class features and a reduced design. The AIR FLOW CONTACT SYSTEM dis-tributes weight neutrally across the bodys centre of gravity and minimises the contact surface with the back and shoulders to enhance air circulation.Due to the BRACE LINK the freely moving shoulder straps adapt to the wearers shoulder width, another plus in terms of comfort. The STAGE is now also available with 6 or 3 litre capacity.

FR SUPERTRAIL BOLIVIA

Travelling and searching for the perfect trail is part of our

history. Near Bolivias capital La Paz we found a bike spot thats truly worthy of the Supertrail label. We started out at 3803

metres height: Its cold. The air is thin, were almost breathless, and the landscape is stunning.

What follows are 1171 metres of downhill riding on a truly amazing

single trail. We are dedicating a limited edition, FR SUPERTRAIL

BOLIVIA, to this trail.

To prove compliance with these standards, a tapered, 5 kg test weight drops onto the protector from 1 metre height. To meet the requirements, the generated impact force of the steel body of 150 180 kN must be slowed down to an average residual force of a maximum of 18 kN. Reaching a residual force of only 9,75 kN, the EVOC LITESHIELD BACK PROTECTOR offers damping capabilities which are almost twice as effective as the standards require.

The typical shock absorption curve is relatively pointed for most protectors so the impact energy hits the body in a very direct manner. The EVOC LITESHIELD BACK PROTECTOR, however, offers a segmented layer construction to guarantee perfect damping. The absorption curve is very flat. The impact force is distributed onto a series of elements and thus, onto a larger area, which helps considerably reduce the direct impact onto the wearers body.

LITESHIELD SYSTEM

The heart of the system is the extra-wide, ergonomically shaped 01 neoprene hip belt with Velcro fastening and large heavy-duty buckles, which transfers the main load to the hips, thereby positioning the pack optimally at the bodys centre of gravity. The ergonomically designed shoulder straps keep the backpack comfortably in place.

Proximity to the body is important for 02 back protectors, and this has been optimized for maximum possible ventilation by way of air mesh elements, EVA pads with ventilation holes and a large ventilation channel in the centre.

LITESHIELD SYSTEM AIR

Besides the main focus on protection, load transfer and great carrying comfort, emphasis has also been placed on providing the completely newly developed LITESHIELD SYSTEM AIR with maximum ventilation. The key challenge here was to combine proximity to the body, which is a prerequisite for back protectors, with the highest degree of air ventilation.

In addition to the large, central ventilation channel, the close-fitting back area has been equipped with 2 rows of ventilation grids: EVA foam strips 02 with ventilation holes and an air mesh covering, together with a special, oblique gabled groove reduce the contact area with the back, thereby enhancing the circulation of air. The extra-wide, ergonomically shaped hip belt 01 on this carrying system is made from highly elastic, looped fabric, which provides the necessary sturdiness as well as maximum air permeability. In this way, the main load is transferred to the hips, where it is fixed, while optimum breathability is ensured even in the case of fully laden backpacks.

AIRO FLEX

The AIRO FLEX is both air-permeable and flexible, which guarantees perfect ventilation at all times. We use this material in our hip belts, where it provides superior wearing comfort even during high-strain activities thanks to its ventilation characteristics.

FR BLACKLINE

Innovative technology for high-end performance. Our BLACKLINE combines the successful technology standard of our PROTECTOR BACKPACKS with the revo-lutionary, innovative LITESHIELD SYSTEM AIR. Closeness to the back, which is essential for a back protector, is retained while heat generation is significantly reduced thanks to special ventilation elements.

AIR CIRCULATION AIR CIRCULATION is featured in all our PERFORMANCE line backpacks, because it guarantees perfect ventilation even during high-sweat and high-strain activities. Lateral cut-outs along the channel enable even more air to flow out.

In addition, the padding along the sides of the back has been reduced to further optimise air outflow, without restricting the carrying comfort.

The requirement here is to transfer even larger loads to the bodys centre of gravity such that they become neutral, while at the same time minimising the contact areas with the back and shoulders.

We solve this contradiction by means of a back component where all ventilation components such as large ventilation channels 01 and specially grooved and perforated EVA pads 02 behind mesh material have practically been moved to the inside. This ensures that the pack fits close to the back and simultaneously provides optimised back ventilation.

Hip belt wings with air mesh and ventilation slots extend the concept of a close-fitting yet well ventilated back system in terms of load transfer and carrying area.

AIRO FLEX The AIRO FLEX is an extremely durable fabric that is both air-permeable and flexible. We use this material in our highest-quality hip belts, where it ensures excellent load distribution to the hips as well as maximum ventilation for superior wearing comfort.

BRACE LINK The BRACE LINK adjusts the shoulder belts perfectly to the width of the athletes shoulders. This automatically adjustment endorse the load transfer to the bodys centre of gravity, while at the same time the contact areas with back and shoul-ders are minimized. Even wearing a neck brace is possbile through the BRACE LINK.

TEAM EVOC at the ABSA CAPE EPIC 2015

Oh yes, its certainly tough especially for Tino. He didnt get much sleep the night before due to stomach problems, and he was still unable to eat before the start this morning. Not necessarily the perfect situation for the upcoming stage, which, with a distance of 128 kilometres and a difference in altitude of 2800 metres, is the longest of this years Cape Epic race! Weve been pushing ourselves through the dust and across passes for more than four hours, and we have not even mastered half of the stage. Amidst a small olive grove the thermome-ter shows almost 41 degrees it happens: Tino just stops and sits down on the ground without saying a word. Was that it? Will we have to give up?

Yet, following that severe low during the third stage, its going better and better for us every day. Thoroughly enthusiastic, we are riding some perfect trails through the amazingly beautiful African countryside, and despite the effort and struggles we continue to re-discover the joy of cycling that has brought us here in the first place. When we cross the finishing line on the last day after a total of 739 kilometres and 16,000 metres of vertical gain, we are overwhelmed by our emotions. Its unbelievable, we made it! Finishers at the Cape Epic how good is that?

All we want to achieve here is to finish the race. We aim to reach the finishing line of this ultra-tough stage race, test the field performance of our new CC 3l RACE backpack and above all, we want to show whats possible if you have the right attitude. Because both team members have a uniqueness factor: Tino Kaessner is a former professional soldier who lost his right lower leg during a military action in Afghanistan. I, Jan Sallawitz, am marketing manager at EVOC, and Ive never taken part in a mountain bike marathon race before. After a short breather Tino fortunately manages to ride on. With great effort and intense support indeed, we finally do make it to the finishing line after more than eight hours.

Exceptionally long stages with extreme changes in weather and trail conditions make each day in itself an extreme challenge. Both our bodies and the material have to perform perfectly in order to withstand the constant strain. And particular-ly when it comes to mental strength, its important to find new motivation every single day. This is anything but an easy task when you look at the terrifying route profiles with a daily average of 100 kilometres and a bit more than 2000 metres elevation gain!

MAXIMUM PROTECTION AND MINIMUM WEIGHT The more fragile portions are protected by reinforc-ing elements in neuralgic areas (plastic/PE plates and rods, foam padding). As the frame is positioned upright, the areas of the bike that can take stress (saddle-saddle post-down tube; front set-head tube-fork) are actively used to deflect impact and pressure from the exterior.

The wheel compartments and the major part of the weight are in the rear area of the bag, which means that the centre of gravity is focused on the wide, stable running gear. That is why pulling the bag has never been easier. The numerous, cleverly positioned handles make handling the bag while loading also very simple, wherever you are.

The measurements of the BIKE TRAVEL BAG are dimensioned so that you can load virtually any bike easily and safely from downhill bikes, 29 inch bikes to triathlon bikes.

Actually, we should prove one day that we girls also live and breathe the EVOC philosophy. This statement was to mark the beginning of our project a bike trip to Bali with photographers and the whole

shebang. We had been planning and organising this adventure since last years Eurobike trade show, and a few months later we were finally about to set off.
