WARRANTYThe Evolution Chair is guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years after date of purchase. Faulty parts will be repaired or replaced; no claim for labor or consequential damages will be allowed. All replacement parts claimed defective will be billed in the usual manner, such invoices being subject to adjustment after the alleged defective material has been inspected by the manufacturer. This guarantee does not cover damage resulting from the use of cleaning, disinfecting, or sterilization chemicals and processes. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper installation or maintenance, accident, misuse, or accidents incurred in shipping and handling. All claims against the freight carrier must be initiated at the time the damaged items are received. The claim is the responsibility of the customer.

Evolution Series Dental ChairCleaning and DisinfectingInfection control in the dental ofce continues to be a high priority for our customers and end users. We will not attempt to specify the required intervals for disinfection nor can we state what is the overall best surface disinfectant. Please refer to the Infection Control Recommendations published by the American Dental Association for further reference.

Barrier Technique Chemical Disinfection

Beaverstate Dental, Inc. strongly advocates the barrier technique be used whenever possible to preserve the nish and appearance of the equipment. Wherever possible disposable barriers should be used and changed between patients. The barrier technique will ensure maximum long term durability of the surfaces and nishes of equipment. Regardless of the chemical disinfectant used, it is imperative that the equipment be thoroughly washed with mild soap and warm water at least once per day. This wash down will minimize the harmful effects of chemical disinfectant residues being allowed to accumulate on the equipment. When using chemical disinfectants always pay strict attention to the disinfectant manufacturers directions. When using concentrated disinfectants measure the concentrate carefully and mix according to package directions. Disinfectant solutions that are relatively harmless to surfaces at their recommended strengths can be corrosive at higher than recommended dilution ratios.

Unacceptable Disinfectants

These disinfectants will harm the surface nishes of Beaverstate Dental equipment and are not recommended. USE OF THESE PRODUCTS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. These disinfectants have been found to be the least harmful to the equipment surfaces. None of these products are recommended for chair upholstery. Use the barrier technique. Green Switches:

These switches are used to place the patient in any of the ve (5) programmed operating positions.

Green Switches (P1-P5): These switches are used to set the programs in the memory. To start programming, the chair must be in the exit position (base down and back up). Manually run the chair to the rst chosen position. Push (P1) until an audible tone is heard. This sets the (P1) position in the memory. Continue to your next chosen position and program each position in the same manner. Note: After the programming of a position. The chair must be returned to the exit position before the next position can be programmed. To do this press the Auto Return Exit button.

Green Switches (P1-P5): To reprogram a position, manually move the chair to the new position and press the appropriate program button until an audible tone is heard. The new position is now in the program memory. Foot Control: When using the foot control, the green preposition button on the foot control will be automatically set to the program button (P1-5) last used. To change the pre-position on the foot control, simply push the desired program button on the chair back and this will automatically change the foot control preposition button to that program. Note: ALL SWITCHES OPERATE ON A 5-VOLT DC SYSTEM.

EVOLUTION SERIES - BACK UPHOLSTERY & MEMBRANE PAD INSTALLATION1. Remove the four (4) screws which hold the back shroud in place.

Place upholstery on the chair back as shown. A. Snap the two (2) upper upholstery aps into place. Be sure that the cut-outs in these aps are positioned over the spacers (located towards the bottom of the chair back.) You may have to stretch the upholstery to accomplish this.

Attach the membrane pad to the circuit board. A. You will see an arrow () marked on both the male and female connectors. Please make sure to connect the ribbon and circuit board so the arrows () on each connector correspond with each other.

Replace the shroud and secure it with four (4) screws which were removed in Step 1. Arrow

BASE MOTOR BRAKE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS WARNINGThis procedure is dangerous! There is a potential for injury including the loss of ngers or limbs. It is extremely important that you follow these directions carefully. READ THROUGH ENTIRE DIRECTIONS FIRST If you do not feel qualied to perform this procedure, contact a qualied service person.

Steps 1-10 Shows Transmission removal 1. Before starting this job, you will need several items: 1 screw - 1/4 diameter with 20 threads per inch - any type head 1 2x 4 - cut to 24 in length 1 pair of needle nose pliers 1 claw hammer (possibly) 1 open end wrench - 1/4 wide 1 open end wrench - 11/32 wide 1 roll of masking tape (no duct tape) 1 - 1/8 Allen wrench 1 - 3/32" Allen wrench

Elevate the chair fully up, as shown.

3.

Release the bellows assembly. Remove the edge molding, as shown. Remove three (3) 11/32" nylon lock nuts and washers from the bottom, one (1) in front and two (2) in rear.

4.

Collapse the bellows assembly fully up, as shown. Secure the collapsed bellows using masking tape, as shown. Do not use duct tape as it could leave marks on the equipment.

BASE MOTOR BRAKE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS5. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT! Insert the 2"x 4" into the scissor lift as shown. It should make solid contact with the top plate and the lower bellows support.

DANGERThis brace must not be bumped in any way during this procedure. If this brace becomes unstable, the entire chair may fall. Keep ngers away from scissor lift joints as much as possible as there is a potential for injury.

Lower the chair down until it is snug with the 2" x 4". If the scissor lift shifts backward because you have lowered the chair down too far, raise it back up and lower it down until the chair is in the correct position. Unplug the chair from the wall socket. 6. Next, remove the pin that links the motor power screw to the chair base. This connection may be tight. If necessary, use the hammer to tap the pin out.

7.

Using the Allen wrench, loosen the two (2) set screws above the motor pivot pins.

8.

Take the 1/4 screw and thread it partway into the hole in the motor pivot pin. If necessary, use the claw hammer to pull the pin out of the motor. Repeat this procedure for the motor pivot pin on the other side of the chair.

BASE MOTOR BRAKE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Remove the motor assembly and position it, as shown.

10 Using the open end wrench, remove the three (3) screws which attach the electric motor to the transmission. End transmission removal

11. Take note of how the brake is positioned in the transmission. The die cast part of the brake assembly should be facing out. Remove the two (2) 3/32" allen head screws that hold the brake assembly in the transmission.

12. Remove the brake assembly using a pair of needle nose pliers. Insert the new brake assembly (die cast side out) into the transmission. Note: Oil should not be present in the transmission cavity. If oil is present, the transmission must be sent back to Beaverstate Dental for resealing before installing the new brake.

13. Take the coupling (black rubber piece) and insert it onto the same shaft as the brake assembly. Next, engage the motor with the transmission.

BASE MOTOR BRAKE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

14. Replace the three (3) screws (with washers) and reattach the motor to the transmission. Note: The transmission power screw should be directly opposite the motor hump.

15. Replace the motor to its original position. Be careful to align all of the holes, so the shafts and pins will install easily. Note: The wire bundle must not extend past the lower beam or the scissors lift will damage the wire bundle.

16. Replace the two (2) motor pivot pins and the pin at the end of the transmission power screw. These pins may t a bit tight, if so, lightly tap the pins with the hammer if needed. Do not use excessive force on the pins. If you are having trouble reinstalling a pin, adjust the hole position and try again. Excessive force will damage the chair. Tighten the set screws above the motor pivot pins. Plug the chair back in and run it to the full up position. This should allow you to remove the wood support. Once this is done, cycle the chair up and down a few times to make sure the motor has been installed correctly. If there is a problem, run the chair back up, reinstall the wood support as in Step 5, and x any bad connections made between the motor and chair. 17. Finally, remove the tape and reinstall the bellows. Refer to Step 3.

Unplug the chair from the wall outlet. 6. Next, remove the pin that links the motor power screw to the chair base. This connection may be tight. If necessary, use the hammer to tap the pin out.

From left to right, disconnect the following: screw #1 (two green wires), #4 (yellow wire), #6 (red & blue wires), #7 (orange & red wires).

Using the Allen wrench, loosen the two (2) set screws above the motor pivot pins.

Take the 1/4 screw and thread it partway into the hole in the motor pivot pin. If necessary, use the claw hammer to pull the pin out of the motor. Repeat this procedure for the motor pivot pin on the other side of the chair.

10. Remove motor assembly. To install new motor, reverse steps 1-10.

Recline backrest to full down position. Raise chair to full up position.

UNPLUG CHAIR

Remove seat assembly by unscrewing one (1) screw from each side of seat assembly.

4.

The motor cable is secured with three (3) screws, remove them.

5.

Lift wire harness out of PC board wiring slot and disconnect 4 pin connector.

Unplug green (ground) wire from circut board.

Unclip capacitor from metal retainer.

8.

Remove e-clip. Push pin in, 3/4 of the way through motor tube bushing.

Hold backrest with one hand and move it slightly to remove tension from motor shaft, slightly rotate motor tube away from pin. With motor removed, backrest will rest against lower shroud.

Remove two (2) 5/32" hex head motor mount screws at front of chair. Support motor to avoid falling and causing damage.

10. Check for proper adjustment of motor (see adjustment instructions) before installing replacement motor.

UPPER/BACK TILT MOTOR ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS

1.

Backrest down - With the motor tube run all the way in to the limit switch stop, there should be 3/8" to 5/8" distance between the tube and the motor gear housing. To adjust the distance, manually unscrew the tube off the threaded shaft. Turn a half turn and screw it back on. Check the distance indicated in step 1. Make sure motor is at limit stop.

2.

Backrest up - With the motor tube run all the way out to limit switch stop, there should be 7" to 7 1/8" between the tube and the motor gear housing. Make sure the distance in step 1 is correct then adjust the distance in step 2. If distance in step 2 is incorect, see steps 3 through 8.

3.

Remove motor from chair if it isn't already. See removal instructions.

4.

Hold motor tube so it won't spin. Run tube all the way out to limit stop. Note: You will need to connect the 4 pin connector to another power source

Remove two (2) screws that hold the front round cover on the motor.

Loosen the two (2) screws that hold the nylon cam in place.

7.

Rotate cam clockwise for more travel or counter clockwise for less travel. NOTE: The outer cam is the only one that adjusts. It is the limit stop for the backrest up tube out.
