In case of multiple gensets in parallel with the mains where the

back synchro is required, DST4602 & DST4602Evolution

interfaced with the common parallel management controller MC100. In that way, any lack is avoided. The adjustable parameters of the controllers allow their use for standard and customized tasks. Parameters are programmed using the free software tool (BoardPRG), which can be freely downloaded thorough Sices website. It is also possible to set them directly by the keyboard of the controllers. The software for setting PLC logic (Plc Editor) is also available for free. The large graphic display is a user-friendly human interface, which is useful for an immediate visualization of measures and alarms coming form the genset. DST4602 has a powerful LCD display whose features are recommended also in critical environmental conditions.

On the other hand, DST4602Evolution

has an enhanced and

impressive 7’’ colour display with TFT technology. It is possible to improve the human interface, using D-MONITOR, a 12’’ touch panel that is the ideal solution for cogeneration (CHP) plants where it is necessary to visualize the thermal circuit of the plant.

RESET: engine start inhibition, load is forced to be supplied from the Mains. When the engine is running and the selector switch is turned to the 'OFF' position, the engine shutdown sequence activates. Reset of all alarms. Enable parameters change (programming). PROGRAM: access to all programmable parameters. Programming access can be controlled by means of a three level passwords. Some parameters can be changed even if the engine is running. MANUAL: engine manual START and STOP controls are enabled. The Genset protection devices are activated. The starting command is automatically disabled when the engine is running. MCB and GCB pushbuttons are enabled when generator is in operating range. Their function depends on the selected function mode. Manual synchronization can easily accomplished by built-in function. AUTOMATIC: function mode depends on the selected one: Single Prime Mover, Stand-by, Stand-by and Short Time Parallel, Single Parallel to Mains, Multiple Prime Mover, Multiple Parallel to Mains. TEST: Automatic start for testing operations with safety protections enabled. Test can be made unloaded, loaded or in parallel to mains. Upon Mains failure, the load is immediately supplied by the Genset. Parallel application: Parallel to mains application is allowed by the internal power regulator. Soft loading and unloading is automatically performed. Some interface protection is embedded in the board. Multiple prime mover application is allowed by means of CAN interface that allows load sharing. Up to 24 gen-sets can be connected to this bus. Synchronization is done through an internal digital synchronizer, avoiding external and expensive external synchronizers.

New function available for the automatic adjustment of the power output based on the mains frequency value. This feature allows to maintain the safety conditions of the genset in case of the mains frequency drops under acceptable values for the genset. Compliant with BDEW German rules which regulates energy plants connection with the MV and HV. In case of multiple plants with several gensets connected in synchro/parallel on the same bus, it is possible to set different automatic logics for start/stop gensets, based on the load request. In detail:

Manual setting of the master genset by means of selector

switch on the control panel

Automatic rotation of the Master genset after a fixed time per

day.

Automatic rotation of the Master genset after an elapsed

time.

Automatic selection of working gensets having a matching power with the request on load (NEW) (*)

Automatic start/stop of gensets in order to maintain the

minimum quantity of gensets able to supply the load “ON” (NEW) (*).

Load sharing: Load sharing is accomplished in parallel operations by means CAN interface or analogue interface. DST4602 controls the speed regulation in order to have the same percentage power among generator sets. Power modulation: Power regulation is allowed through internal power regulator. For electronic engines a CAN line is available for speed regulation, for traditional engines is however available a proper analogical interface. Reactive power regulation: DST4602 controls AVR directly in order to manage the reactive power. DST4602 is a MULTILANGUAGE DEVICE. The display languages available are: English, Italian, French, German, Spanish and Russian.

Innovative and automatic sequence already built-in DST4602 genset controller that allows to achieve a fast synchronization and paralleling of many gensets comprising in an emergency power station in a maximum time of 9 - 15 sec. (based on the alternator and engine features).

The advanced system called “Fast Paralleling” is an effective solution for those sensitive realities where any mains failure, even for a few seconds, could cause huge problems for the security of people and data and create damages for the production processes (banks, hospitals, data centres, etc…)Using the Fast Paralleling system, gensets are switched on, synchronized and ready to supply the loads in a few seconds from the mains failure signal.

How?

In case of mains failure, Sices genset control panel gets a

signal from the existing ATS in order to start to run the stand-by gensets.

The new operation logic implemented in DST4602 controls the

status of gensets, checking which of them are ready and available to start and take the load.

Gensets start to work all together with the relevant circuit

breakers already closed.

By means of a safety and proper control of speed ramp and

excitation range, gensets are simultaneously brought to the rated conditions.

All gensets are therefore ready and in parallel in 9-15 seconds

max. (based on the engines and alternator types).

The load is supplied by all gensets running in parallel.

If one or more gensets don’t start to work at the first starter,

the control logic opens the relevant alternator circuit breaker. The other gensets can go ahead with the fast starting operations.

The genset that has reached the rated conditions with delay,

can be inserted afterwards making the usual synchro operations.

DST4602 Compact (MASTER)

In really sensitive contests, it is necessary to ensure a safety control of the gensets. Basically, a reliable control is achieved using a “Master unit” that controls the start/stop, the alarms and the engine/generator protec-tions, combined to a “Back-up unit”. The “Master unit” is equipped with a self-diagnostic system (watch dog), able to detect any failure of the controller. After an elapsed and settable time of communication, the “Back-up unit” automatically switches on taking responsibility of the genset process. When the “Master unit” is ON, the “Back-up unit” is OFF and vice-versa. In that way, there is no danger of failed command between the controllers. The redundancy available is defined “warm type”, considering that 6-7 seconds are required before the “Back-up unit” is activated. It is possible to configure the redundancy of the controllers as follows. For each genset: A) 2 x DST4602 compact B) 2 x DST4602 SCM + N.1 DST4602 HMI (display). With the case b) there is one common display (DST4602 HMI) and the backup is done on DST4602 SCM (the internal box).

For each local DST4602 & DST4602Evolution

it is possible to add one or more remote DST4602 controllers, usually called

DST4602Remote.

This solution is usually recommended in case of remote control room where a supervision of the genset from a remote station is necessary. Thanks to this controller it is possible to visualize the measures, parameters and status of a local DST4602, as the Operator is in front of the local controller.

○ Remote reset: reset of alarms/shutdown In order to increase the safety of the system, It is possible to set a password on the local controller and on the remote one. By inserting the proper password, it is possible to enable the command from remote.

REMOTE START: Push button used to start the genset from remote. The starting is enabled if the selector key of the local controller is in AUTO mode. REMOTE STOP: Push button used to stop the genset from remote. If the genset has been started by the DST4602/RC, pushing the “REMOTE STOP”, the genset stops conclud-

ing the cooling operations. If the genset has been started by the local DST4602, pushing the “REMOTE STOP”, the genset immediately stops without any cooling operations. GCB: Push button for the manual opening/closure of the Genset Circuit Breaker. MCB: Disabled.
