• The telegraph system is the major reason for the creation

of internet.

• Telegraph is a digital communication system which was

invented in 19th century.

Definition and History

ARPANET (The Advanced Research Projects Agency

Network) :- world's first operational network.

ARPANET was the first WAN and had only four sites in

1969.

In 1989, the U.S. government lifted restrictions on the

use of INTERNET, and allow its usage for commercial

purposes as well.

• The original Internet provided screens full of text

• Text was all one font and size

• Tim Berners Lee brought all of this together to form the

World Wide Web in 1990.

• GUIs added some color and layout, but still were not very

interesting.

• Hyperlinks were invented

• Netscape was founded.

• The first commercial site was Amazon.com.

• In 1994 the World Wide Web grew astoundingly.

• Amazon saw that online shopping was the wave of the

future.

• Microsoft Internet Explorer took 96% of the browser market

• Internet explorer was challanged by Mozilla. And the

Mozilla became the leading browser.
