5G : High Throughput and low Latency
Next generation communication systems are expected to be intelligent in nature, as well as providing a platform for operators to effectively exploit their network resources in an era where spectral resources are at a premium. The smart cities can be designed based on cognitive radio which is meant for spectrum sensing and spatial sensing. It also uses the massive MIMO and the heterogeneous network which uses small cells called Femto / Pico cell

Slicing is provides logically independent network on a single network infrastructure to meet diversified service requirements and provides DC-based cloud architecture to support various application scenarios.
Slicing Uses Cloud-RAN to reconstruct radio access to provide massive connections of multiple standards and implement on-demand deployment of RAN functions required by 5G.
Slicing Simplifies, we are implementing automatic network slicing service generation, maintenance, and termination for various services to reduce operating expenses through agile network O&M.

Wireless Evolution towards 5G - Universal Resources Management (URM) to solve the Resources Allocation problem by means of Coordination and Cooperation
I sistemi di comunicazione satellitari sono una
soluzione interessante per l’estensione della
rete terrestre nelle aree rurali, marittime, per
gestione di eventi critici o come reti di back up
in caso di disastri.
Può fornire connettività a banda ultralarga per
i servizi eMBB (enhanced Mobile BroadBand)
Supportano il backhauling per le reti 2G/3G in
molte parti del mondo ed i nuovi satelliti ad alto
throughput (HTS) nelle configurazioni orbitali
GEO, MEO and LEO potranno supportare le reti
4G e 5G

telecomunicazioni mobili (5G).
Processo di standardizzazione in due fasi:
Release 15 - primo sviluppo del 5G nel 2020 per Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB);
Release 16 - emissione ITU-2020 con la copertura di tutti gli use-case con l’inclusione della massive
machine type communications (mMTC) e Ultra reliable & Low Latency Communications (ULLC)
(Comunicazioni estremamente affidabili e a bassa latenza).

COGNITIVE RADIO IN 5G
• Cognitive radio is the intelligent technology which senses the spectrum
and location.
• The main goal of the cognitive radio is to sense the underutilized
spectrum by the secondary user.
• In 5G communication system the devices such as smartphones, which
searches the occupied spectrum in the form of base station downlink
signals and takes the instruction from the cellular system
Cognitive radio & 5G
Heavy Usage
Medium Usage Low Usage
Both the cognitive radio (CR) and the fifth generation of cellular wireless standards (5G) are considered to be the future technologies: on one hand, CR offers the possibility to significantly increase the spectrum efficiency, by smart secondary users (CR users) using the free licensed user’s spectrum holes; on the other hand, the 5G implies the whole wireless world interconnection together with very high data rates and Quality of Service (QoS) service applications.
Cognitive radio & 5G
Usage scenarios
1. Cognitive relay for capacity enhancement
− Communication to BS with licensed resources; CR for local
coverage
− Communication to BS with CR; local coverage with licensed
resources: no modification for conventional user devices
2. Virtual Antenna Array (VAA)
− Virtual MIMO in licensed band: performance gains
Reconfigurable antennas have been shown very interesting and promising for
the future networks to change not only the bandwidth, but also the radiation
pattern and polarization This class of antennas enables the reconfiguration of
not only the bandwidth but also the radiation pattern and polarization by using
frequency-agile, software-defined, and cognitive radios to cope with extendable
and reconfigurable multiservice, multistandard, and multiband operation as well
as with efficient spectrum and power utilization.

• Adjusting to a new mix of novel spectrum licensing models such as shared access,
• cognitive radio collective spectrum use, etc: against traditional
licensed and unlicensed bands. There may be new licensing models that depend on major technology challenges, never resolved before, all tending to delay final roll-out as co-existence is worked out
• Complex digital signal processing for Internet Protocol (IP) packet delivery (with the IPv6 addressing), possibly with cognitive radio techniques for dynamic spectrum access (DSA) with adaptive frequency selection
EUROPEAN LEADERSHIP IN 5G
The 5G Infrastructure PPP, in short 5G PPP, is a 700 million Euro joint initi ati ve between the European ICT industry and the European Commission to rethink the infrastructure and to create the Next generati on of communicati on networks and services. The 5G PPP is aiming at securing Europe’s leadership in the areas where Europe is strong or where there is potenti al for creati ng new markets such as smart citi es, e-health, intelligent transport, educati on or entertainment & media. The 5G PPP initi ati ve will reinforce the European industry to successfully compete on global markets and open new innovati on opportuniti es.
