Exalted Ruler’s Message Hello Fellow Elk Members, I hope everyone is doing well during this COVID crisis. It has been almost a full year since this started. Again, if anyone needs assistance from the Elks, please let me know and we will try our best to help. I would like to thank all the members who have sent in donations to the Lodge. The response has been great and the money collected will be put to good use to get us through these trying times. Thank you Mickey DeSantis for spearheading this fundraiser. You can still send in donations if you are able as there is no timeline for this. The Lodge bar will be opening on Wednesday, February 3rd, and will be open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Check the House Message in the bulletin for hours. Drive by Sandwich Nights are starting again on February 3rd and thereafter. Come out and help support the Lodge. Thank you Knights for getting this going again. If you do come out, please make sure you adhere to all the COVID guidelines that we must enforce. There will be a zero tolerance policy and you will be asked to leave. February is an important month for our Lodge. There will be nomination for officers and election of all new officers. If anyone is interested in becoming an officer, please let me or the Secretary know as soon as possible. As the Lodge starts to reopen, we need to get our committees back to work on projects for our community. Let’s get back to working as a TEAM. In closing, I hope everyone is doing their best to stay safe. I know our Lodge has been closed for a long time but I think it was for the best. Other Lodges that have opened and did not follow safety procedures have had problems. I hope soon we will all be back together. Wear your mask and make sure you get the vaccine when it becomes avail-able. Fraternally, Richard C. DeLuca “Together Everyone Achieves More”

Wherever Elks may roam, whatever their lot in life may be, when this hour falls upon the dial of night, the great heart of Elkdom swells and throbs. It is the golden hour of recollection, the homecoming of those who wander, the mystic roll call of those who will come no more. I ask you to contact me should you know a fellow ELK is sick or has passed. You can call my cell: 609-658-7150 and should I not answer, please leave a message with the respective ELK’s name, who to contact if you know and include your name and contact number. The officers continue to provide the ELK funeral service when requested by the family and I appreciate your assistance. Keep in mind that wearing masks and social distancing are so important to keep us and others safe. We ELK’s will get through this together! Joe Ratajczak Chaplain

Convention 2021
Lodge Activities The meetings will resume in January with the next one scheduled for Friday, February 26, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. Tentatively, the meeting is planned to be held at New Egypt Lodge #2457; however, depending on the COVID status, this may be held virtually. More information to follow, once known. The monthly meetings are usually held on the fourth Friday of each month, as scheduled and the location is rotated throughout the district lodges. The district encourages all Exalted Rulers, Leading Knights, and any officers to attend and participate. The meetings are very informative and usually review the Statutes and have training sessions. All are welcome! Hank Elmer, PDD Chairperson
Plans for The Wildwood Convention are moving forward. If you are planning on attending and need a convention application, please email Donna Papp at [email protected]. For those of you who are planning on marching, please go to Giovanni’s and get measured. You must be measured no later than March 15. To secure your room, your completed application must be in and paid in full by March 1. To be entered into the drawing for the free convention package, we must receive your application, paid in full, by February 14. The winner will be drawn at the lodge meeting on February 15. We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon and especially at the convention!

Scholarship 2021 As of January 18, scholarship applications can be downloaded off the Lodge website, Bordentownelks.org, or through the guidance offices of the local high schools. Deadline for submission is April 14. Applications can be submitted by mail to the Lodge or emailed to [email protected]. For information email Tony DiLemme, [email protected] or call 609-280-1320. Once the Lodge reopens, applications will be available for pick up or drop off. The objective of the scholarship committee is to reward graduating seniors of the Bordentown, Florence and Northern Burlington school districts and/or graduating seniors who are either children or grandchildren of current BPOE Lodge 2085 members. First year college students who are children or grandchildren of a Bordentown Elks member and who have not previously received a scholarship from the Lodge may also apply. The goal is to recognize and subsidize students wishing to continue their education either scholastically or vocationally. Criteria to qualify for this scholarship are excellence in academics and/or involvement with community service in and outside of the Bordentown Lodge. Tony DiLemme Chairperson
Handicap Equipment During this time of COVID, the loaning of Equipment from the Bordentown Lodge has not stopped. On a weekly basis, the Lodge has provided AND taken in MANY donations of equipment on a much larger scale then realized. Most people do not know this valuable asset of the Bordentown Lodge exists. Providing resources to the community and by word of mouth it helps those in need.
What do we have available? Wheelchairs: Standard or Transport, Bedside commodes, Shower benches or chairs, Sit/Stand Walkers, Canes, Crutches, Knee Scooters... We even have some extra parts! Do you know someone in need of a cane? A Walker? Something else? Please reach out to me and I can make the right fit for you. Jason Ispanky, Lecturing Knight- [email protected] I would like to thank Trustee Jack Becker and Member Paul Matlack. Jack provided me with a great assortment of resources and with Paul's help it has grown into a meaningful inventory. Paying it forward, recently several pieces were donated to the Hightstown Lodge to help with their inventory. Jason Ispanky Lecturing Knight
