Organized in 1912, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police has
remained dedicated to the advancement and elevation of the standards and
professionalism of all law enforcement organizations. Beginning in 1945, the
NJSACOP has continuously administered police examinations as a service to
municipalities throughout the State of New Jersey. During those years, our
Association has kept pace with the ever‐changing requirements of the police
examination field to ensure the establishment and maintenance of the highest
standards of professional performance.
NJSACOP testing services are available to all
non‐civil service law enforcement agencies
in the State of New Jersey. The Examination
Committee, in conjunction with nationally
recognized publishers of police examina‐
tions, have participated in objective studies
to ensure the validity of all written tests
used at the entry and promotional levels. In addition to administering written
examinations, the NJSACOP also conducts oral evaluations at the entry and
promotional levels.
The main objective of the NJSACOP Examination program is to provide a
professional, reliable, and valid promotional process that is designed to assess a
candidate’s knowledge in critical law enforcement areas.
For additional information on exams, please contact
