    media to sustain itself

because it is a internetbased community whereteachers can come

together to share a similarinterest. In the pastteachers could only

communicate with theteachers within the sameschool or district. Usingthis new media, teachersare able to communicate

    with other teachers

Internet Writing Workshopis using new media to

sustain itself because it isusing the internet and

internet advertising to createa writing community. Using

the internet allows writersfrom all areas to come

together. Without this newmedia, this would not be

possible. Without theinternet, writers would have

to stop what they areworking on, print it, and

bring it to a formaldiscussion where everyone

would meet at a location todiscuss their work. This isdifficult if you dont live in a

community with otherwriters with the same

    interest.
