Some Institutional Achievements

The UCR produces 78.3% of the scientific articles published in internationally indexed magazines.

50 % Costarrican scientific production is published in the most prestigious scientific magazines recognized all over the world and 25%% of internationally indexed publications of Central America. However, considering the number of international publications in all kinds of journals, the scientific production is three times bigger.

Partnership in the “Food Security Center”, a joint collaboration with the University of Hohenheim, the Agricultural and Technological University Sokoine in Tanzany, the UCR in Latin America and Katsetsart University in Tailand.

From 2006 to 2008, the Univeristy of Costa Rica invested around 7 million dollars in research equipment and scientific publications. It also acquired 78 new data bases and 43 of those offer complete texts.

In 2008, the Geophysical Research Center became part of the the World Wide Lightning Location Network.
