Issue 4 Book Club pamphlets have arrived. They will be sent to classes later this week. Orders will be due back at school by Friday 22nd June 2018. Online LOOP orders will close on the same day. Orders can be sent into the library. Please remember to have correct money and order form all in an envelope. Thank you.

Students who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge since our last newsletter are: Navreet Kaur and Lucy Turner. Well done girls. Reading log sheets are available from the library. Kindergarten, Year One and Two will bring them home this week with books we have shared in library visits added.

Reading to your children PETAA and Kay Lowe have been synonymous with reading and learning for many years. This article covers learning to read and how parents and carers can help. “It is the joy and love of sharing a good book on a nightly basis that sets the foundation for their reading success, and ensures that reading is given the priority it deserves. Reading regularly with someone who cares is the inspiration that all readers deserve.” http://www.petaa.edu.au/imis_prod/w/Teaching_Resources/Parents_guide.aspx/ We have a great collection of books in the library for children to borrow. Please remember to send library bags with students. 1/2T go to Library on Tuesdays. K/1C and all Kindergarten classes go to Library on Wednesday. Year 1 (1P, 1M & 1F) and Year 2 (2W, 2G & 2C) classes visit the library on Thursdays. Perfect weather for spending time with a book or two. Enjoy your week. Sue Buttrey Teacher Librarian

Over 220 students visited the computer labs to try out the new cards and 5/6G were the lucky winners of the code lesson with Mrs McLeod. Orange code week tokens were distributed to students that correctly answered daily code questions and winners were drawn out at assembly – congratulations to Hamish Waghorn, Darius Ferres.

All Stage 2 and 3 classes will participate in coding lessons within their class computer time over the year.

Students can access ‘Scratch’ at any time: https://scratch.mit.edu/

Avid News The AVID group from 5/6L and 5/6C visited South Campus on Thursday to join the year 7 AVID class. First period was English. We did philosophical chairs, which is a game where you debate a topic. The topic for the game was “Packed lunches from home are better than canteen food”. In second period we did Science. At the beginning of the lesson the class was sat down in a lab to be given our topic which was density. Together in groups, we had to figure out how you can make water dense with only food colouring and salt. It was a fun, and interesting morning. By Olivia Khatri and Ava Hosking.
