built for ZEN we wanted to maximise the swimming distance, spa intensity, therapeutic experience and allow depths suitable for most ages. In the afternoon sun you can relax and soak up the rays. The pool remains heated all year round and adjusted for climate variations.

ZEN RelaxariumOne of the greatest discoveries at ZEN is the

Relaxarium Spa. Be pampered in a super aromatic, coloured therapeutical zone and ~55 jet intense hydrotherapy spa. Surrounded by tropical indoor plants, your own outdoor shower and a personalised massage table – no one comes out of the relaxarium spa, the same as when you go in….

ZEN EntertainmentEntertainment options abound throughout with a pool

table, dart board, board games, chess and a raft of beach games in bocce, quoits – our aim is to provide as much family and friends fun as possible.

ZEN Beach Retreat is available on an exclusive and private basis to ensure your full enjoyment and we provide full retreat flexibility for you in your special event planning.

The upper level of the main residence has been custom built to provide to be the most open expansive venue room available on the beach. Seating and configuration is fully flexible and customisable depending on your needs for your event.

The top level opens up to 180 degree panoramic views of the sunrises, ocean waves and beach as your look over the Sky Deck to the east.

A perfect open air combination (weather permitting) to allow an even flow of entertaining options outside on the Sky Deck and into the Venue room.

Facing the west you have open views of the colourful hues of a sunset skyline, the beautiful coral blue magnesium pool, authentic hardwood Bali hut and four themed villas.

A modern immaculately appointed domestic kitchen with full facilities provides a perfect facility to manage catering for any event.

With 7 fridges and freezers throughout the retreat, dual convection ovens, dishwashers, with loads of crockery and cutlery available you have several in-house catering options.

Number of Guests - ZEN Beach Retreat can cater for any special event or plan you may have. Our facilities can cater for up to 30 people at any one point in time. With so many individual areas to relax, you will find this number of people managed easily within ZEN.

Your Privacy - Is fully assured with lockable gates at all four corners of the property and selected curtaining to isolate any of the windowed areas on the property.

Audio-visual equipment – Fully wired, the venue has a full length retractable visual screen for projection, floor wiring to an amplified surround speaker system in the ceiling. All lights are dimmable to provide the perfect ambience for your event – nearly everything is at your full disposal for your event.

Bali Hut, 10m magnesium pool and spa and the

expansive top floor to the executive main residence. It’s

an extraordinary 150m2 open space that is adjustable and

customisable to whatever need or purpose you foresee

during your stay.

The sea facing side opens up onto the Sky Deck, sliding open to expose a brilliant indoor / outdoor wide open flow to the sea. With outdoor lounges and elevated bar dining table you have the perfect space to enjoy the your time with family and friends in any context.

Your top floor captures everything shared in the immaculately appointed venue previously listed with all

of the facilities as an executive you expect. Moving down stairs into the sea facing living area the

residence provides several sleeping and entertaining areas.

ZEN Parental RetreatThe parental retreat is your private retreat within a

retreat – your space to retire to, to relax regardless of

what’s happening at the rest of ZEN Beach Retreat. The

parental retreat is expansive with a large double main

bedroom with generous bedding that lets you sit up to

enjoy breakfast in bed looking directly out to the sea,

the sunrise is absolutely spectacular. A separate

makeup area in the corner lights up to assist

application.

The exquisite main bathroom behind the main bedroom has

been designed to perfection for your comfort. A twin open shower, twin fossilized

Moroccan sinks all complete with lighting and heating. Walk past the personal massage table and

through the doors into the Relaxarium that is available for your own private use. Chromotherapy, lights the room to a colour of your choice and adjust the intense ~55 jet hydrotherapy spa to your comfort. The ZEN tropical garden and décor is complete with executive taste….enjoy everything it has to offer!

Beach Front BedroomsThe 2nd and 3rd bedrooms open out

onto an undercover patio area that flows into the beachfront garden and ocean. Lie awake at night with the sound of the waves gently rolling into the beach or wake up to a selection of rainbow colours and the sun rises over the horizon – it’s just spectacular.

Both bedrooms sleep two people with second bedroom as a twin share trundle bed and the 3rd as a comfortable queen size. Both bedrooms have large sized built in robes for your use.

2nd BathroomThe second bathroom is a well appointed modern,

stylish bathroom with shower, WC, cabinet, heating and services the 2nd and 3rd bedroom. There is an additional

WC next door to the bathroom making it 3 WC on the ground floor, 1 upstairs and 1 outside all located

within the main residence structure.

ZEN EntertainmentThe main entertainment area is the hub of all

entertainment on the property. The only large flat screen TV is here linked to Foxtel and free to air channels, BluRay DVD and a dual system amplifier that splits sound between downstairs and upper level. A large collection of musical instruments awaits the musically inclined, just grab the guitar and head down to the Sky Lounge for a tune or two overlooking the ocean. For the real romantics a possible surprise serenade or two?

LaundryA fully appointed laundry is on the lower

level including hanging rails for inside drying or the external doors directly lead to the outdoor drying court

with a herb and spice garden available for your use.

Executive SuiteThe Executive suite flows into a ZEN tranquillity

garden with direct beach access. Private and spacious, this split level suite is professionally interior decorated to provide a luxury haven.

Tastefully completed in a black and white contrasting theme with splashes of spot colour for visual appeal, the decorator has sought to introduce both a masculine and feminine feel to the suite to appeal to all people seeking a artsy yet classy suite. In the lower level you have a modern table for a perfect intimate meeting which can extend to a stylish dining option for 4 people.

A fully appointed kitchen and well stocked mini-bar, allows for entertaining or preparing your light meal. From your modern office desk.

The main bedroom that overlooks the gardens, pool and has a partial view of the sea has a memory foam queen size bed for complete comfort. Guests can request a pillow of their preference. The second bedroom easily transforms from a single long twin share to a king sized double. The upper floor is air conditioned, has heaters and built in robes. The modern, clean lined bathroom provides a shower, WC and makeup cabinet for the Executive Suite.

French VillaAdorned with many original French antiques, either

family heirlooms or sourced from ageing village cottages in Provence & Brittany, they combine to capture the magic of France. Authentic fabrics, art pieces, farm doors, antique chairs are all here in the villa. The owners great, great, Grandfather’s grandfather clock commands the main corner and an authentic triangular corner cupboard the other.

You have direct access to the magnesium pool and spa, bali hut, and the beach. You easily seat 4 people in the elegant dining setting surrounded by French memoirs. Magnificently presented the villa is a quiet little haven for personal meal preparation or quiet dining.

Upstairs drift away in authentic bedspreads, family heirloom bed head (almost as old as white settlement in Australia), original French antique chest of drawers, stunningly upholstered French antique chairs await.

Your comfortable bedding is transformable as either two king size beds or two twin share rooms depending on your needs. Your slightly filtered views of the sea are past the garden and pool views you enjoy as you laze in air conditioned comfort. The fully appointed modern bathroom has everything you need to freshen up and continue your complete relaxation at ZEN.

Asian Villa The Asian villa is a great mix of Asian culture and art

pieces from all over Asia. With no fewer than 9 Asian countries represented it’s an eclectic mix of culture and all the great things about Asia. One of the stand out pieces is a Yellow Chinese Wedding Cabinet in the main living area. A rare find it has been part of our family for 15 years and stores all the main serving items.

Indonesian dining setting and chairs, Balinese statues and pieces. Cambodian musicians, Umbrellas from Laos, Chinese lanterns all add colour and vibrancy to your Asian stay. Spacious yet cosy with direct access into the Bali Hut, the magnesium pool and down to the beach, your view is a sea of dark green tropical gardens. Easily dine 4 people.

Chinese lanterns hang above the stairs, with Chinese and Indian art surrounding as you reach the two bedrooms and modern bathroom level. All bedding is of the highest quality and comfort, with pillow selections allowing your sleep to be the most comfortable.

One of the best Hong Kong fabrics we have seen drapes the beds, Buddha art covers the walls and an antique Vietnam reading chair provides the perfect angle to drift away at ZEN. Both rooms are adjustable to twin share or King size configuration. The modern bathroom is smart, clean and fully equipped for your comfort.

Oriental VillaDefinitely our most colourful villa! The brilliant colour

curtain designs are a rainbow of oriental colour and the Moroccan tapestry a real feature of oriental homes is on the wall with oranges, turquoise, greens and reds bouncing off the teal blue wall. The centrepiece is the magnificent Turkish mosaic ball lighting – having moved all over the world it has made it its way from the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul to its resting place here in the Oriental Villa.

Complete with unique items like the Afghanistan camel water balloons, Zambian Chess Set and fully equipped dartboard, this is a room of rest, play and solace. Opening up into the Bali Hut this Villa has almost a direct line to the beach.

Sleeping in the Oriental villa takes on a whole new dimension, the colour really brings the orient into your bedroom. Resplendent with ornate oriental wall hangings, Afghanistan side table the main bedroom has proved a popular choice for guests.

The bedroom has a sea view, pool view and captures the morning sunrise slowly enough to not wake you too early! The bedrooms can be configured both as a King size or as twin share and are supplemented by a fully appointed modern bathroom.

Catering and Dining at ZEN Beach RetreatPersonal Catering

ZEN Beach Retreat’s five residences each have their own kitchen, which provides significant flexibility for any catering of family gatherings or friends parties or just general meal preparation as a small or large group.

Equally, where any individual has a specific dietary or allergy requirement different kitchens can be used for different meal preparation to isolate any cooking needs.

Each fully appointed kitchen has fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, hot plates, electric frypans, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, baking dishes, crockery, cutlery, wine glasses, drinking glasses – everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal together.

Two fully stocked supermarkets, butcher, bakeries are close by and open extended hours to be able to source any ingredient or food you require for meal preparation.

External CateringCaterers are available locally in Bargara as well as from Bundaberg and service a wide range of tastes and budgets. We

would be happy to provide you with details of individual caterers and chefs depending on your needs. They are aware of ZEN Beach Retreat’s facilities and tailor the provision of their service to suit your needs and the facility itself.

Catering is available at all times of the year and for all meal options you may require. At ZEN we support local businesses wherever possible to ensure we know who you are dealing with and we recommend only those we have tried ourselves.

One of the very special options at ZEN Beach Retreat is to bring in a highly qualified chef to prepare and amazing meal for you right here at ZEN.

BreakfastAs part your 100% stress free retreat

we want to remove the stress of having to wake up and prepare on time to be at breakfast by a given time. Whether you want breakfast at 3AM or 11AM that’s your choice.

At ZEN we provide a sumptuous breakfast hamper that’s full of locally sourced goodies (for short term stay guests only).

Queensland’s No1 Bacon from Bargara Meats, Surfie Chicks Free Range Eggs, a selection of fruits available from Bundy Food Tours as well as locally sourced pastries and other tasty breakfast treats also sourced locally.

Guests can cater for breakfast themselves with full facilities available.

If dining out is your preference, for breakfast there are several options located 10 minutes walk away on the Bargara foreshore and in the town precinct. Great coffee and surprising breakfast options await.

LunchWhy not create your own little picnic

here at ZEN? Overlook the sea and beach from the SkyDeck, Sky Lounge, 5 o’clock spot or ZEN garden – what a scenic lunch option. You could also have a lunch around the pool or in the Bali Hut – you have so many options to choose.

Our recommendation would be a salad and long lunch on the SkyDeck enjoying 180 degree panoramic views of the beach and bay.

There are several lunch dining options available in the local area 10 minutes walk away or if you are seeking something slightly different we can recommend a whole range of great restaurant and lunch dining options in the local region.

With plenty to see in the local region you can make your dining experience part of a day trip or a specific event.

We also know some fantastic local picnic spots close by in the local area for a change of scenery.

DinnerThe central Bali Hut makes for a great

large outdoor dining area for groups. The upper level of the main residence is perfect for indoors dining for groups or each villa has it’s own dining setting that seats 4-6 people in each villa. A great solution for preparing a family sized meal and enjoying it together wherever you prefer.

Our Thai and Indian restaurants in town are as authentic as being in the country themselves. You can dine in or can always arrange a large take away meal option and present it in the crockery and serving options available in your residence. The closest you will get to home cooking without doing it yourselves!

Several dining options are available locally within 10 minutes walk and can provide for a variety of choices. There are a number of restaurants available for evening dining, at ZEN we are more than happy to help arrange a table or reservation for you at the restaurant of choice and to help you with our own experiences at each restaurant.

RefreshmentsAt ZEN we support local businesses wherever possible and

this is the same for our beverages. We will be a licensed facility with a restricted alcohol supply service for staying guests. Our focus is to ensure guests have access to the best the local area has to offer.

Our range of beers are solely sourced from Bargara Brewing. An innovative and rapidly expanding craft beer brewery, Bargara Brewing is at the forefront of appealing to wide range of tastes in beer consumption and will have a beer that will appeal to your taste, including the brand new 100% gluten free SMASH Pilsener. In addition to this tantalising mix, ciders and a new Vermouth are available from Bargara Brewing and here at ZEN.

For soft drinks we supply the range of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks. With up to 8 flavours to choose from at any one time, there is certainly an option there to suit your tastes.

For a stronger range of alcohol options we have a wide variety of spirits available with a focus on the Bundaberg Rum range of spirits. The Bundaberg small batch rum has recently been voted as the world’s best rum comes with a high recommendation for any connoisseur seeking a soothing late night digestif, wonderfully sampled on the SkyDeck overlooking the stars.

The Mon Repos Turtle ExperienceAt the largest turtle hatchery on the east coast

mainland of Australia. Between November and March each year, hundreds of mother turtles arrive at Mon Repos to lay a clutch or several clutches of eggs (turtle nests) and the clutches hatch.

Watching this happen is nothing short of amazing, the determination, the nest selection and the start of another future life really grips and captivates your imagination at the start of the season.

Eight weeks later, the little baby turtles hatch from their nest, dig to the surface and head for the sea to start their own life journey. You will find yourself cheering the little guys on as they race to the sea, you will even get the chance to guide them. It really is a tremendous experience.

Book in early so you are in the first groups but even if you are in the 1st group of the night, when you go out, still depends on when turtles arrive or hatch, so it can still be a late night.

Then head back to ZEN Beach Retreat to continue to enjoy the rest of the evening and if you are lucky, even see a mother turtle lay her nest right out in front of you on the beach!

you can reach ZEN in a morning or afternoon by air. Fly from your destination direct to Brisbane domestic airport. With normally a short transit time in the Brisbane airport, connect with a 45-50 minute flight to Bundaberg. ZEN Beach Retreat is 23 minutes drive from the Bundaberg airport. All things going well, we can have you on the beach and in the warm waters of the Southern Great Barrier Reef before lunch time!

Bundaberg airport is serviced by both Qantas & Alliance airlines.

Brisbane to Bundaberg route for Qantas has 5 flights a day during weekdays and 3 flights a day on weekends.

coming from!

At only 4 ½ hours drive north of Brisbane, Queensland it is very accessible and easy to get to.

Only 2 ½ hours drive south of Gladstone, Queensland.

Located in Bargara, 13kms east of Bundaberg on the coastline, if travelling on the Bruce Highway look for the signs to Bargara & Bundaberg. As you near Bundaberg follow the signs to Bargara.

Bargara ‘The Lifestyle Capital’ is right on the coastline and has one major access route directly into it from Bundaberg.

Directions:1. Follow the main road into Bargara and into the beach-side main

street – Bauer St.2. Drive down Bauer Street until you reach the Esplanade on the

coastline. 3. Turn right (coastline is on your left) and follow until the

roundabout.4. Go straight ahead through the roundabout, you are now on

Pricing, Deposit and Cancellation Policies 2017 pricing is available as per the next page, on a per night basis.

Damage Cover DepositDeposit charge is the equivalent of 1 nights stay and is

refunded within 7 days after your departure. Any broken, damaged or missing items will be charged to the deposit or

your credit card if damages are greater than the deposit.

Booking Confirmation Deposit Whole ZEN Beach Retreat & Main Residence

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm bookings for the whole of ZEN Beach Reach Retreat and

Executive Main Residence.

Final balance of payment for remaining 50% is due 14 days prior to arrival for the whole ZEN Beach Retreat & Main

Residence.

Executive Suite, Asian Villa, French Villa & Oriental Villa

Rented for short term accommodation have a refundable 50% deposit due at booking if cancelled 7 days prior to

planned arrival date.

Cancellation Whole Retreat & Main Residence – Cancellations prior to

arrival are covered by the 50% non-refundable deposit.

Villas – Cancellations within 7 days of arrival incur a 50% cancellation charge which is equal to the booking deposit. Cancellation more than 7 days before arrival will have their

deposit refunded fully.

Air-Conditioning – Available throughout the Main Residence and in the Villa bedrooms. In considering the environment we ask that you use them on an as needed basis.

Airport Transfer – ZEN Beach Retreat can arrange pick up and delivery to the Bundaberg airport at very reasonable rates – please enquire if needed.

Beach & Pool Towels – Are provided as part of your stay. You will be provided one towel per person during your time at ZEN.

Bedding – All of ZEN Beach Retreats bedding has been sourced for guest comfort and are adjustable between King sized bedding at twin share – please check with ZEN Beach Retreat to ensure your preferred options are available.

Behaviour – ZEN is a relaxation retreat, all guests should feel relaxed and no uncomfortable at any times as a result of any other guests behaviour. Guests behaving in an uncomfortable manner will be asked to leave.

Broken or Damaged Items - Any broken, damaged or missing items will be charged to the deposit or your credit card if damages are greater than the deposit.

Car Hire - Please see the Travelling to ZEN Beach Retreat section - Budget are our preferred partner.

Car Parking – We have uncovered car parking facilities suitable for 8 cars on site. Free public parking is located close by should additional requirements be required.

Check in times are between 14:00 and 20:00

Check out time is before 11:00am on the day of departure.

Children – Children are always welcome at ZEN Beach Retreat and remain under the care of the parent or guardian present. We should always be mindful of other guests and ensure our children’s behaviour is not impacting the enjoyment of others.

Fire Safety – Fire extinguishers are present in the Main residence and all Villas. A clear Fire Exit Plan is available in each residence as well as a designated meeting point in the car park and on the beach.

Ironing – Ironing facilities are available in the guest laundry

Laundry – There are two laundries available for guest use, one guest laundry servicing the themed Villas and a second as part of the main residence.

Linen & Bath Towels - All are provided during your stay. Linen and towels are not replaced during your stay, but are refreshed every 7 days for longer stay guests. We are mindful of the environment and encourage limited use of detergents at all times. Should you require more frequency please let us know.

Liquor – ZEN Beach Retreat will be a licensed venue for staying guests during specific retreats and short stay activities. We uphold all Queensland liquor licensing laws during times of alcohol service. Where off site catering is used during special events, security will need to be provided at your expense to ensure the responsible use of alcohol during this time. Responsible consumption of alcohol is expected at all times at ZEN.

Mobile Phone - Digital Detox – Please keep your mobile phone on silent or vibrate mode while at ZEN Beach Retreat. The retreat is a centre for relaxation and whilst we have free Wi-Fi available throughout we encourage social interactions at all times and reduced distractions.

Noise – During your stay we ask that you are mindful of noise level. Guests are at ZEN for many reasons, including reflection, mindfulness, wellness and relaxation we ask that you be respectful to this and keep noise at a minimum level.

Outside Visitors – ZEN has a self and planning imposed limit of guests allowed to be on site at any one point in time. This is 30 guests. Additional external guests will be asked to leave if over 30 guests. Non staying guests will always be the responsibility of the hirer and should any damages occur, they will be compensated by the hirer.

Pets – At ZEN pets are not permitted. If allergic to pets, there are two resident ZEN pets, a dog and cat.

Pillows – Guest comfort is our priority and a small selection of alternative pillows are available if you prefer an alternative firmness.

Relaxarium Spa – Your ultimate relaxation experience is available by appointment and best booked in advance. Let us whisk you away to a full relaxation experience. Whole retreat and main residence bookings will have exclusive use of the Relaxarium during their stay.

Room service – Your room will be fully serviced at the completion of your stay. A light service of rubbish removal and general tidy up occurs more frequently. Should you have any specific needs, please let us know and we will do what we can.

Safety deposit box – there is a safe on site for the security of small items.

Sky Deck and Sky Lounge – are fully available for guest use during the day and evening. We close the deck at a reasonable hour to ensure guest comfort. Please share the facility with others and we do not adopt a policy of leaving towels on chairs to reserve them.

Smoke alarms – All rooms in ZEN Beach Retreat contain smoke alarms that are wired into the main power system and comply with current Queensland legislation.

Smoking – ZEN is a 100% smoke and stress free retreat. There is to be no smoking within 10m of the property boundaries.

Stress Free Retreat – At ZEN we believe in stress free, so time is yours. We won’t be pushing any times for you to have breakfast by or to wake up by a certain time – relaxation is yours and you can choose what to do during your stay. Participation in any activities are not compulsory but your choice. Our role is to make it as enjoyable and fun as possible.

TV – There is only one TV in ZEN Beach Retreat, located in the main residence. We encourage social interaction at all times at ZEN.

Water – We do provide some complimentary bottled water in your rooms. The tap water at ZEN Beach Retreat is also suitable for drinking.
