Anyway, I was happy with the performance for the first month, it seemed like a good workout and I enjoyed being able to exercise whilst watching telly and so on, until the elastic snapped on one of the power cords. Nonetheless I persevered (using hand-held weights instead) only for it to start creaking really badly a few weeks later. It was so noisy it would wake me up in the morning when my friend used it! Then a few weeks ago I thought the steps looked to be at a strange angle and when I checked underneath the metal had completely sheared off. This time it was totally knackered and I had to throw it away. I am disappointed as I don't weigh

It looked pretty solid and reliable, and I found one for a good price so thought why not give it a try. I was slightly surprised by its size and weight when it arrived - it wasn't exactly compact and found it was difficult to find somewhere to put it when it wasn't being used - there was also a definite potential for doing yourself an injury moving it about! To start with, the digital display didn't work from day 1, I wasn't too bothered but was a bit disappointed as I couldn't monitor the number of calories I'd burn (it just didn't seem worth the hassle to try sending it back for that alone). I am disappointed as I don't weigh very much (about 9st) so I can't see that affected it much. I just think they must be poorly made. I would like to get another, but don't know now which to go for as this has made me a bit wary of wasting my money - I THOUGHT the LTT were meant to be the original and best on the market - but obviously not!

The chain broke after very regular usage from me and my daughter. The squeaking would drive me crazy also and most people don't realize it is coming from where the foot pads connect to the rest of the machine. Turn the machine upside down and put a few drops of WD40 there and the squeaking will stop. I would definitely recommend this product as it helped me lose weight and tone my lower body, however it is not as sturdy as it should be and has some design flaws. I am considering purchasing another one as I have not found anything else that I like as much.

Review Quality: Helpful(13 votes) | Unhelpful(1 votes) Cardio & toning - not bad19 Jan 2008 - Jill of New York, USA writes:I used this with dance music playing in the background. Your hands are free, so you can sort of move to the music and stay entertained. It strengthens the butt & thighs, but is not intense enough to add size or definition, if that's what you're looking for. Also, any exercise machine is going to bore you to death before long, but this one isn't horrible. Not flimsy, but it does have some squeaks at times. Though it is not large, it's heavy enough that you won't want to move it far or often, so have a spot you don't mind leaving it in. I dropped about a dress size when I used it consistently, but BEWARE of boredom and repetitive motion muscle strains with any machine.

Review Quality: Helpful(4 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) no good15 Nov 2007 - Petra of Swakopmund, Namibia writes:i used my ltt almost every day, doing about 2000steps/ half an hour for a year or so. the squeaking noise got worse with time and then it broke. the foot tube assembly and the turnbuckle are worn out from usage....I think this product is designed for people who don't use it. If you are serious about exercise get somethig else.

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) Poor construction14 Oct 2007 - Sarah of Haute-Savoie, France writes:Hi, I would not recommend this product. The first one that was delivered was broken. The second one was fine, I used it for a few weeks and noticed a small difference in the tone of my butt muscles, but not my stomach as the manufacturers claim. Then it began to squeak after I used it for longer than 45 minutes. We oiled it, but it didn't stop the squeaking, which was more noticeable the longer I had used it. I'm not heavy (125 lbs) and it only got used 3 times a week for about an hour each time. After 3 months, it broke completely (the tension failed). I've since bought a stepper from Decathlon which is much lighter to carry and works just as well and was much cheaper! (and a nice colour too!)

Review Quality: Helpful(3 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) Noisy!!10 Oct 2007 - Liz of England, UK writes:Got my LTT of my favourite bidding site and stopped using after the first week (4 months ago)as it was squeaking..badly. I have oiled everything but it seems to have got worse. I jumped on it again this week and have tried to do an hour in front of the tv every day but my children and neighbours (!) have both complained about the noise. I will persist as I spent over 50 on this machine so I am determined to get my money's worth but not sure I will do so again when this one goes.

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(3 votes) What an effort8 Sep 2007 - Alicia of England, UK writes:Ive had this for about a year now. I only started using since about 8 months ago and ive seen a bit of a difference. Ive also changed my diet and started walking regularly and so far ive only lost about 7lbs and my bum has barely shrunk. I expected to loose alot more but i suppose it didnt help that i kept taking breaks every 5mins on the LTT. You can work out for what seems like an hour but i keep finding out thats its only been a couple of minutes. Its very hard to preoccupy myself. Its also started squeeking and after all the reviews ive read im worried that im not going to be able to make it last for any mor than a couple of months.

Review Quality: Helpful(9 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) Love It!14 Jul 2007 - Emily of Iowa, USA writes:I did not actually purchase this product. My aunt bought it and gave it to me after a knee injury. It does an amazing job on the butt muscles. It works just like a stair stepper maching. The only down side is that it doesn't have anything to hold on to. But that may be better because then you have to work harder. It takes commitment just like any excersise equipment, but I love it!

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(9 votes) Great Product!!!25 Jun 2007 - Jerri of Virginia, USA writes:I purchased my lateral thigh trainer about a year ago. I have used it several times over that period of time. I don't know why I ever stopped. I used it today for the first time in months and not only worked up a sweat in the 20 minutes I did it, but my legs are killing me. I am going to continue to use the product this time.

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) cheap29 May 2007 - Zoe of Wales, UK writes:I used it for about 4 months, i could see that it had started working on my calves. but then it started squeeking and the plastic case had cracked all the way around, if i want to use it now i have to jump on or jump off really quickly that aint right.

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(5 votes) Cheaply made6 May 2007 - Rita of England, UK writes:Got the LTT as a gift. Used it for about 4 weeks and one of the 'L' rods snaped. As this was a gift I am not aware were it was brought and cannot return it. I tried to get the rod welded but it proved to be futile (was told it was not worth doing as it would snap again and again). I enjoyed the work out and did manage to tone myself, if it were not for the squeeking and the cheap materials I would get another one. In the mean time I am stuck with a broken LTT, I wish there was a place to get replacement parts!!

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(10 votes) make like the price i brought it (CHEAP)28 Apr 2007 - Ryan of England, UK writes:this is a poor made product. the foot pedal arms have popped out on mine and its unusable. iv had the squeeking and over come it,also had the tension bar not work for a long time and the little computer has not worked and the calories you burn are 3x as much as it says on the computer.

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) LTT18 Apr 2007 - Sarah of Scotland, UK writes:I bought my LTT [] for 35 in Dec 2006, up until now it has worked perfectly. Last week it started squeaking and I've tried wd40 its not helping at all, will try multi purpose oil and I will contact [] see what he has to say I'm sure there was a 1yr guarentee! Oh have lost a stone and a dress size

Review Quality: Helpful(9 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) impressed to date!15 Apr 2007 - Leonie of England, UK writes:So far i'm really impressed with this product. I can see that my legs are beginning to become more toned and it's really great fun. I usually just put a film in the player and off I go! The squeeking can be a bit annoying, but as long as you follow the manufacturer recommendations and put a few drops of oil on each side with every use the noise is gone in no time at all!! I'm hoping that I can keep it up each day and achieve the results that are shown!!! (fingers crossed!)

Review Quality: Helpful(2 votes) | Unhelpful(15 votes) Well I'm done!!!18 Mar 2007 - Shelley of California, USA writes:UPDATE: This is an update to my previous one on Feb 5, 2007. The thing broke again! This was my second one and I'm done with it, it didn't even last as long this time I'm so disappointed. Good idea but cheaply made!

Review Quality: Helpful(9 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) Works Great!7 Mar 2007 - Anonymous of Nevada, USA writes:I have had my Lateral Thigh Trainer for 4 months. It works great! I had to start out at 5 minutes and work my way up to 30 because it made my muscles very sore. My muscles get a workout as well as my heart. I have lost 30 pounds in the last 4 months using this machine as well as healthier eating habits. My husband made a comment about my rear end getting too small. Thats gotta tell you something! My only problems with this machine is... it does eventually start squeeking. I put on headphones to solve that problem. Also, when I change it to a lower speed for a muscular workout versus cardiovascular, it doesn't stay locked in that position. Otherwise, I think it's well worth the $100.00. That is a lot less than you'll spend on a gym membership and you can workout in the convenience of your own home.

Review Quality: Helpful(12 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) Mine has broken after 3 weeks.1 Mar 2007 - Jon of Lancashire, UK writes:This LTT is not good quality. I started slow at 250Cal burn, and moved to 400Cal workout in 3 days. I could feel the benefit in my legs, no doubt about it. After 6 days, the sqeaking started. I added some grease to the appropriate areas, and continued use. I have discovered what the squeaking was. On the right pedal housing, the cylinder that attaches the pedal to the swivel mounting has failed, and was pushing it's way through the square tube that runs from the front of the machine to the back. This meant the pedal was not staying in the correct place, and was slowly moving backwards, becoming unusable. I would not recommend buying this until the manufacturers redesign this part of the machine to strengthen it. I was 15.5 Stone when i started, and it should be able to cope with that sort of weight, as it isn't just lightweight people (no offence meant) who want to excersise.

Review Quality: Helpful(10 votes) | Unhelpful(8 votes) Fat burner?27 Feb 2007 - Rocket of Hampshire, UK writes:Hi. Managed to get a new boxed and sealed unit for 24 and that is with free power cords. Ive now had this for 4 weeks, On first use I only was only able to do about 400 steps (unfit) and after second time it started to squeak. I aplied a multi-purpose oil to the moving bearings. It has now been squeak free every time. I now do 3000 steps at 4-5 times aweek, spending 30 to 60 min at a time. So far it has been fun watching TV or listing to music while workin out and I do work up a real sweat after about 1500 steps. I now have the tension bar halfway. My wife has noticed musles improvement. The downside so far is my waistline, dosent seem to have improved. Maybe it is my diet, but as far as keep fit is concerned it is great. Time will tell on robustness of machine, but dont pay top prices for this it isent worth unto 100.

Review Quality: Helpful(12 votes) | Unhelpful(6 votes) Not been able to get it to work8 Feb 2007 - Heather of Wales, UK writes:Hi,i purchased my LTT couple of days ago and was really exited to get going with it, however it does not work at all! there is no resistance in the feet at all and both are positioned down so i can only lift them up by hand, i have had someone open it up in order to check that the chain is on the cog but there is no movement in the cog at all. []

Review Quality: Helpful(10 votes) | Unhelpful(11 votes) Well I'm on my second Lateral Thigh Trainer5 Feb 2007 - Shelley of California, USA writes:UPDATE: I gave a review back on May 8th and 31 Oct 2005 so this is an update. I decided to buy another one because I really missed it, this time a new one off of my favorite auction site for 1/2 the orginal price. I got it on 11/30/06 and I was going strong but I heard a snap last night but kept going and I'm thinking this thing is going to break again but I'm hoping to get some more use out of it before that happens. Will update again later...... This is still great workout and I hope they come up with a better made machine.

Review Quality: Helpful(10 votes) | Unhelpful(6 votes) It's going to break21 Jan 2007 - Pat of Connecticut, USA writes:I've had it for a couple years now. Used it off and on, but the squeaking drove me crazy. Used oil, WD-40, everything. Last week used it for the first time in 2 weeks and the chain broke - it's useless. Can't find replacement info anywhere. A lot of other reviews I read complained of squeaking - guess it's a sign of impending breakage.

Review Quality: Helpful(9 votes) | Unhelpful(6 votes) I'm happy with my LTT and recording my experience18 Jan 2007 - Anonymous of England, UK writes:Hello. I purchased the LTT a couple of days ago and have set up a journal where I will update with my experience. So far Ive used it 6 times in two days, first day for about a half hour in total, today for 45mins. Im really feeling it and I think its a good machine, very sturdy and feels well built. Ive noticed it start to make some noises when I first use it but it soon goes as I get into the routine. Please check [] if you want to follow my progress, alternativly go to [] and search for []. I find it gives a good workout and after two days I'm definetly feeling positve effects

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(14 votes) Squeaker10 Jan 2007 - Jeet of England, UK writes:I purchased this product at a reduced price. After using it for two 15 minute workouts over 2 days it started to squeak. I used oil on the metal tubes that join the feet to the body which stopped it for the next 15 minute use but it has now started squeaking again very loudly. Any ideas??

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(8 votes) First impressions5 Dec 2006 - Annabelle of London, United Kingdom writes:Ref. the last review: p17 of the manual talks about increasing the pedal height for a more intense cardio workout...I just got my LTT today, and first impressions are that it looks like a cheap piece of junk - I was pretty surprised. Thank God I didn't pay the c. 90 on the TV ad (search the net before you buy - I got mine for under 40). I haven't gotten going yet though - so these are comments only on the aesthetics, not on the way the thing works. My first issue is that my feet keep sliding off the pedals. Can anyone suggest ways to get round this, or once you get going does this stop? I'm too scared to get going in case my feet slip off, and I do myself an injury. As an aside: it's hard to move around because there isn't any easy way to pick it up and carry it...

Review Quality: Helpful(8 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) Worth it30 Oct 2006 - Kat of California, USA writes:I actually love my LTT. My only complaint is that I am unable to increase the resistance. I feel that I have maxed out my workouts. If anyone has any advise on how to increase the resistance (other than moving the lever) I would appeciate it.

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) Re-Review12 Oct 2006 - Catie of North Carolina, USA writes:UPDATE: I am updating on a review I posted back in Feb of 2005. I stopped using the trainer as I came to busy and difficult times, but I had lost weight and had better endurance. I stopped in April 05 and just started up again last week. Guess what? No squeaking or malfunctions with the product. I've also noticed some small changes already (mind you I've also been eating better) I still stand by my original review and say it's still a great product, you just have to use it right and keep using it!

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(6 votes) Really Good26 Jul 2006 - Amy of England, United Kingdom writes:I'm 13 and my parents bought the lateral thigh trainer about a year ago. I started using it a few days ago to get fit before going back to school and i can really feel it working on my legs. its really fun and you can watch TV or listen to music while doing it.

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) Good till it breaks24 May 2006 - Mary of Nebraska, USA writes:I enjoyed using the product while watching tv and liked the fact that you could lift weights at the same time. The first couple weeks went by without a problem and then the squeak started...and then the resistance lever wouldn't stay in place...and then the ball bearings fell out one day...and now there is absolutely no resistance. Not worth $100!

Review Quality: Helpful(3 votes) | Unhelpful(8 votes) Good and Bad Points30 Apr 2006 - Anonymous of London, UK writes:I have had the LTT for almost 2 years.Good Points: yes finally I can use something that actually works, when I was using this regulary my thighs really slimmed down.Bad Points: my main gripe with this machine is the resistance lever. When I move it to the hardest resistance and turn the knob & make sure it is secure in the middle of the work out it comes unstuck & moves to the middle. Also in the past when I have got exasperated with it doing this I have moved it to the lowest resistance for some inexplicable reason it seems to increase the resistance. The peddles stop moving smoothly and get a bit jerky as the resistance keeps changing between fast to slow. That really is my main bug bear with this. I have also experienced the squeaking WD40 did help & again the display works intermittently. But apart from the resistance issue I really do love the LTT, It works!

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) At first it was ok, but then8 Mar 2006 - Karen of California, USA writes:I bought the Lateral Thigh Trainer because it was compact and it looked like it would be fun to do. Initially, things were great except that after about 20 minutes the Speed Control/Resistance lever would shift and I would have to get off and put it back into place. After about 5 months of using it 2 to 3 times a week for 30 minutes, the lever broke and wouldn't move at all. My husband took it apart and found the Ball Bearing Assembly had become deformed from use since they had used very thin metal for that part. Very disappointing.

Review Quality: Helpful(2 votes) | Unhelpful(6 votes) The LTT burns more than I do.6 Mar 2006 - Pim of California, USA writes:I have to admid the LTT gives a nice workout both me and my girlfriend like using it. After little over one month of use it started squeaking however, and yesterday we enjoyed the nice smell of burning plastic. I opened it up to see what was wrong. The chain is well lubricated and not the cause of the squeaking, but a plastic ring was melting and the metal parts had gotten terribably hot. Today I had another look at it, discovering that already after 5 minutes of use, you could not hold its metal parts anymore. What to say. In my opinion the fitness idea is good, but the apparatus is not fit for the job. It can not handle a regular workout of more than 20 minutes.

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(3 votes) Really Good2 Mar 2006 - Zoe of Nottingham, UK writes:I must say that when i saw this product on the tele i was a little unsure wether this product was a money making scheme, however i got mine [] and really love it i can really feel the burn in all my muscle particually the lower body. The dvds aren't really stimulating enough and a little boring but its really good to do while listening to music of watching tv. My only problem is that its has started to squeak, im sure that this problem could be rectified with oil. Overall though a brilliant machine that i would recommend to any one.

Review Quality: Helpful(1 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) Its not bad23 Feb 2006 - Aron of California, USA writes:This product is good. I feel the difference but havent lost any weight. Its kinda good. I sweat a lot and I am still gonna try it as it is only one month that I bought it. Probably it is becoz I havent been regular.

Review Quality: Helpful(1 votes) | Unhelpful(7 votes) Feet keep slipping10 Feb 2006 - Carolyn of Leicester, UK writes:I received mine yesterday but my feet keep sliping off the pedals - []??? I have used it for only 10 mins but am already out of puff and I am a fit person usually!!!

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(3 votes) Lateral Thigh Trainer: Looks good.30 Jan 2006 - Ravinder of London, UK writes:Hi to everyone reviewing the lateral thigh trainer. I first came across the lateral thigh trainer on the television advertisment on a shopping channel called []. I saw Brenda Dygraf and she was using the LTT. I then watched the whole advertisement. The thing that i like about the lateral thigh trainer is the cardio workout, with "Michelle" from the advertisment, who demonstrates uses the LTT and i noticed she is moving her arms up towards her chest and back down and at the same time, her abs and side obliques are actually moving side to side! I now want to buy the lateral thigh trainer after watching this. I wieigh 9 stone, and i am very slim. I want to use the Lateral Thigh Trainer to build lean muscle, so that my thighs, my legs, my glutes my waist and my stomach can be all nice and toned by using the lateral thigh trainer.

Review Quality: Helpful(4 votes) | Unhelpful(4 votes) 17 Jan 2006 - Elizabeth of Newfoundland, Canada writes:i bought the thigh trainer 2 years ago and have used faithfully 5 times a week last week the chain broke and i had it repaired but it broke again , i love my work out on the thigh trainer and will buy again if i can' t get repaired only thing i would like is a different video to work out to for variety

Review Quality: Helpful(4 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 4 Jan 2006 - Amy of Virginia, USA writes:I must say that i have had this product for several months and have a very hard time motivating myself to work out after (or before) a long day of work. However when i do i find this is the most enjoyable piece of equipment i have ever owned, and to make things even better it doesn't hurt my knees, which generally pretty much everything does. I absolutely love this piece of equipment and feel very energized (when i use it).

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 26 Dec 2005 - Cherryl of Cambridge, UK writes:I love my Lateral Thigh Trainer! I've had it for a while now and I have never had any problems with it, or the effects of using it. When I received it the resistance levels needed adjusting, but that is easily done. (If you are having problems you can find solutions at []) I haven't had any problems with squeaking either but that may be because I check the chain once a month to see if it has enough lubricant on it. Before I bought this product I had been ill for three years because I have arthritis in my spine and the pain was unbearable. I was unable to do much at all. The result was that I lost muscle tone and strength. I have it all back now because of my LTT! I realise that Brenda may be a bit too freaky for some people but after three years of pain and depression she has been a godsend! My daughter bought my LTT for me and although she always buys lovely gifts for me, this has been one of the best gifts that I have ever received from her.

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 25 Dec 2005 - Linda of Oregon, USA writes:Not a bad machine. It really hurt my knees because they slant as in skiing not straight like a normal walk.

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 25 Dec 2005 - Shonda of Louisiana, USA writes:I love this machine-like many others, I wish it were made better but I still love it. I was able to return it to Target when the chain broke initially-that was a big bonus. I lost 11 inches off my hips the first month I used this (I followed the diet as well as the exercise plan). I will buy more if/when this one breaks. At $100.00 each, that was less than $10.00 an inch!

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 17 Dec 2005 - Brigette of Missouri, USA writes:I tried the Lateral Thigh Trainer for several months and I thought it was a pretty good workout but the machine constantly squeeked therefore, my husband had to keep oiling it weekly. Also, the computer would constantly stop during exercising and I was not able to keep an accurate track of time and steps. After several months of use, the chain broke during a workout ... thank God I was I was able to keep my balance because it could have been a very nasty accident.

Review Quality: Helpful(7 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 4 Nov 2005 - Allen of California, USA writes:I was living overseas, saw the informercial, and even though I'm not typically suckered in by them, I was too intrigued by the Lateral Thigh Trainer to resist. Getting it to me in South America was a nightmare, but finally it arrived. I'm an old hand at steppers and stair-climbers, but I immediately liked the difference this machine offered--the slight side-to side swiveling vs. just up-and-down. If you like dancing--and I do--this machine will make you fall in love with it. I combined it with a new diet, and lost a surprising amount of weight in record time. HOWEVER...the big downside to this machine is that the manufacturers unfortunately chose VERY cheap materials. Much like many other people who have posted reviews here, my chain broke in about two weeks. I replaced it with a store-bought bike chain. As I was overseas, returning it was out of the question. Next, the "L"-shaped metal arms underneath wore out and snapped. Keep in mind, I only weighed about 180 lbs (82k) at the time; I have to wonder what would have happened to a TRULY overweight person! I had to take the machine to an auto repair shop to have it welded. I ended up returning on a WEEKLY basis. Next, the rubber cords that I ordered with the machine snapped as I was using them! The other problems were annoying, but this was truly hazardous. If the manufacturer is reading this, please note: you have a HUGE legal liability on you hands! These deficient bands could easily take an eye out (they did in fact hit me in the face!). All in all, it IS a great, fun, and effective machine--but it's just made like junk. If you plan to order one, order TWO, so you'll have something to use while the other is being fixed!

Review Quality: Helpful(6 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 31 Oct 2005 - Shelley of California, USA writes:I gave a review back on May 8th (happen to look in on the reviews for this since I was looking at another product review) and within a month or so later the chain broke. That was a dangerous feeling but I was able to hold unto the wall. It also had started leaving oil dust on the floor which was hard to clean, glad I didn't use it on the carpet. ANYWAY, I still say this is a FUN machine and I really miss it!!! I know it's strange to give negative feedback on the quality but positive on the machine's technique and effectiveness but I have never felt this way about another machine before. IF they make a better product I will buy it again or when I get back to the States I'll go to Walmart maybe and buy it there so I can return it if there is another problem. I still stand by the fact that this provided a great workout!

Yes, I've felt the strain on my knees too, but when Brenda says in the video "make sure that your knees are bent, this is a non-jarring impact workout" I release my knees from being locked and the problem doesn't seem to occur. It's all about how you press with your gluts and hamstrings, not with your knees. You also have to make sure not to hit the pedal to the ground, keep it just above the ground so that the pedal doesn't impact with the ground. Brenda also mentions this helpful hint in the video. This will help alleviate the pain in your knees. Also there's a point where she says "press through the heel". Maybe also LISTENING to what she was saying while working out, these strains wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Since I purchased it from a retail store, they exchanged it with no problem. Now, I've been working out on the unit for like 2 months now and all of my friends and co-workers are asking me what I'm doing. I've always had problems with my thighs and hips and this machine widdles them down if you work at it hard enough. I wish that it was made a little better but if you make use of just the way it is, you will definitely see results. I do the tape that came with it and sometimes I just get on it with some music and work out for like 45 mins to an hour. I definitely feel the burn in my hips and thighs everytime and can't wait for another version to come out, hopefully!!

As I bought it online, I contacted the website I bought it from to get it repaired but all my messages failed to be delivered and the website is not available anymore. I agree the machine does look cheaply made and I was disappointed when I received it as it looked more like a toy than a serious trainer. Even though I did not notice any serious weight or inches loss( I am still fitting too tightly in my favourite skirt), I was enjoying using the stepper except for the occasional squeaking.

So far no problems with my machine other than it does squeak, WD40 seems to solve this problem although has to be done nearly every time I use it. Started out only managing 20 Minutes, now I love it so much I am using it everyday for 1 Hour. Can definately feel a change in my lower body, not so much flabb on my rear, this has spurred me on to continue with this workout. Put on some upbeat music and you can really get into the swing of this machine. I can work up a real sweat. If I find problems with it I would purchase another machine as it was very good value for money. Delivery costs were a bit high but because I love this machine I would certainly buy a replacement.I am hoping my machine lasts a long time. Highly recommended.

Review Quality: Helpful(5 votes) | Unhelpful(1 votes) 22 Aug 2005 - Sharon of Tennessee, USA writes:I've decided to add my two cents worth after reading what everyone else has said about the Lateral Thigh Trainer. It's a great machine! I purchased it last summer (2004) and used it for 6 weeks but fell out of practice. I wanted to get slimmer and in better shape but simply had not developed the 'want to' sufficiently to keep it up until this past spring. I co-teach line dancing once a week and also take swing dance lessons. This past spring I enrolled in an English horse-back riding class and realized how very much out of shape I was! Posting a trot was almost impossible and the VERY idea of two-pointing (standing up in one's stirrups while the horse is cantering) sent me into a total laughing fit. Laughing is better than crying girls. So, I got back on the LTT and went to work on my thighs, calves, butt and other muscles. Last month I picked up the horse-back riding lessons again and had the ability to learn the new skills. My LTT has not broken like some of yours has and I use it 2 to 3 times a day for 15 minutes at each session. I acknowledge that I am not too good at keeping at an exercise program but I DO want to put horses back into my life therefore I MUST be in shape to ride. Now I have motivation and the machine to get me into shape! My goal is to get up to two 30-minute workouts a day and I believe I'll get there this next month. It HAS helped me to tone my muscles and become more fit. One thing that I quit doing was weigh myself--I care not what I weigh, I care about the size of clothes I wear. If I am 'fit' then my pants size will be smaller and it is--finally. Last year before I purchased the LTT I was puffing out of size 14 pants. I worked on it last summer for a few weeks but got out of it--deciding that I just couldn't do it. WHY? I don't know. In the little bit of exercise I've done on it in the past nine weeks, I have lost 4 inches in my waist, tummy, and butt! I am now fitting comfortably into size '12' pants and a size '10' jacket. What I put in my mouth for fuel does have an affect on my size too. It's not just eat a doughnut and then go work out. That won't work at all! This is going to be a machine that I will keep on using as an aid to weight reduction and overall health the rest of my life. I didn't get out of shape and overweight in one year and I do not believe that 'life changing' habits will occur in just 9 weeks either! If you have the machine, use it. Leave the video running throughout the day and get back on the machine. Just do it and look for the improvements one step at a time!

I am a bit concerned about the stress it seems to place on the knees. I am a former dancer, and currently an regular exerciser, and never had knee problems until using this product. No matter how I place my feet on the pedals, I am unable to relieve the knee pain. Also, I've never recieved any abdominal benefit from the program, as the infomercial suggests. I would not recommend this product.

Its not a miracle maker its just an exercise machine that takes time and a calorie controlled diet. People give up too easily and that is why they are most likely why there are at the weigth and fitness level they are at in the 1st place. I do spin classes and kick boxing twice week along with weight and floor exercises. I am going to use the LLT as an extra workout in front of the tv and when I cant make the gym. Give it another try and combine with other fun activities, and most importantly stop moaning, nothing in life is handed on a plate.

I'm middle aged and in medium / good shape, and had been running on the treadmill several times / week, when our treadmill died. Trouble is, my husbanc gets his exercise through sports, not exercise equipment, and you really can't judge what someone else will use. He got suckered in by the infomercial and ordered it as a "surprise" for me. It took me a couple of months to replace the treadmill so I used it. Well, I wasn't at all impressed. It's very cheaply made, and the $100 he spent would have been much better spent on the new treadmill. The "computer" is a little plastic insert pedometer type of thing that doesn't work accurately anyway, the tension aduster continually shifts down, and Brenda is just a wee bit too perky for me. I'm not in fabulous shape by any means, but I barely broke a sweat with the workout, which was brain numbing. I did feel it in my knees more than anywhere else, because the "lateral motion" puts you into a somewhat knock kneed position. I've never had knee problems despite years of running, but I suspect if I kept up with the LTT I would have. Thankfully, I got a new treadmill. I could see maybe $20 for this, as an alternative or change of pace, but I wasn't impressed, and certainly not for $100. Save your money, it will be better spent elsewhere.

I have gone as far as taking it a part and spraying all moving parts and even at one time places a wheel barring grease on it. I use my thigh trainer for 35 minutes a day and I can tell you it is the longest 35 minutes of my life w/ the squeaking. But this is going to sound weird but I really like my thigh trainer so I took it a part again and put cooking oil on all moving parts. It doesn't make a sound, no squeaks, nothing. I don't know if it will work on every thigh trainer or if it will mess up the rubber but I really enjoy doing my work out in peace. :)

Review Quality: Helpful(4 votes) | Unhelpful(2 votes) 28 Jul 2005 - Tish of Missouri, USA writes:From what I've read of other reviews, it seems like the LTT suffers (like many infomercial exercise products) from lack of quality control with manufacturing. The squeaking and chain malfunction may be isolated incidents, because mine has never had those problems. I did observe that the plastic feet don't screw on properly, but that has never affected the LTT's performance. The actual workout on the machine is surprisingly good, offering a good cardio workout and making your thighs work very hard. The infomercial's claim about ab strengthening is a joke and so is the accompanying video--I taped over that after watching it once. Once is all you need to get all the "special" workout moves Brenda has to offer (which aren't really that special). I've never used the electronic display, which is a fairly cheap pedometer that often counts incorrectly if you actually put it on the machine. If you're into making the LTT really work for you and not get bored, just pop in some upbeat music and jam or watch TV while exercising. I use 5lb. hand weights to supplement my upper body. Overall, the LTT is a good machine IF you don't have problems with your knees.

After 30 days I can report a definite tone up in the waist thighs and butt areas, and the fat on my back is also firming.b Have lost 2inches in the waist, much better definition and the 'square' middle of flabby abs. I have enjoyed step exercise for years and found this to be a good alternative to the older step trainer methods. It is hard on the knees, but I have developed strength over time, it will creak after extended use, but nothing an application of grease has not fixed. I enjoy my workouts to music and can see I will continue with this exercise style because it is pleasurable and delivers results over time with consistent (every other day) effort at an affordable price, and in the home. A great compact workout machine.

Review Quality: Helpful(4 votes) | Unhelpful(1 votes) 2 Jul 2005 - Jill of New York, USA writes:I bought the lateral thigh trainer about 2 years ago. It remains sturdy and smooth. If you have knee issues, mix it up with other activities and work up slowly (do that anyway). I dropped a size in 3 weeks with just three 15 minute sessions a week. True, I was completely out of shape, but I had just 15 pounds to lose and a serious carb addiction, so weight loss was NOT a given. If you're fitter and not doing other exercise, you'll want to go longer, more frequently. Since your hands are free on this machine, you can break up the monotony and "dance" a little, or be a time-miser and use light free weights for your upper body while you step. It can be fun, but some days you'll want to throw it out the window. But, hey, that's fitness! The main thing is that it removes excuses. If you use it, you WILL lose weight, or at least, if you eat like an animal, you won't gain weight, and you'll keep your energy up. If you don't have the room or saint-like patience required for a treadmill, this is for you.

For me the biggest selling point was the portability of the machine. I take it out of the closet, use it, and then it goes right back in. The only problems I've come across are the squeaking noises and the computer thing turns on but will not track anything! Very annoying. I am going to keep my receipt and the box it came in so I can return it without hassle if I have any of the major problems others have listed here.

Second week, the squeeking started, the steps became sticky and hard to press, the resistance didnt stay put, even after screwing it into position. My knees, ankles and shin hurt, but I persevered, I did notice my thighs getting firmer and buttocks tighter. After the third and fourth week noticed lots of black-like soot coming from the main body. After using this product for a couple of months, the chain suddenly broke whilst I was using it, this could have seriously hurt me, I fell off but managed to grab hold of something before hitting the ground. The product should be checked throughly for long term use, also give advice on inevitable squeeking and make sure the computer works with each step. I'm stationed in Germany so it was mailed and came almost totally assembled. I tried it a few times but it hurt my back, knees and my feet. But I thought maybe I wasn't using correctly so I would try it every so often and found that if you position your 'core' body parts (stomach, lower back area, etc.) in an upright setting and place your feet firmly pushed down on the pedals then there is virtually no pain. But I really didn't use it on a consistent basis until in recent months after I saw another one of their infomercials and decided to do it at the same time. Now I use it about 3-5 times a week and sometimes twice a day in addition to going to the gym about 3 times a week for cardio variety. I find that since I started using it that my legs are shrinking and my hips & butt are firming up, and this if after going to the gym for 3 months 5 times a week using their machines but not seeing as much difference. Maybe this thing just works differently with the way it's design, because I can definitely feel it in my hips. When I use 3lb hand weights for upper body in conjunction w/lower body, I get really sweating like a pig. It's great and never boring! I feel this is the best $100 that I have ever spent on an exercise machine, when I used my treadmill in the past, I never got the same results. I noticed today the counter doesn't work because I know I was on for at least 40 mins but it only showed 29 mins. It also squeaks but it comes and goes and isn't really that loud if you are jiving to music or watching TV. It seems pretty sturdy to me and I'm a little over 200 lbs, so I would recommend this especially to women who have the same problems areas as I do!!

Now as far as these results that people are talking about I dont believe that because my saddle bags and Fat HIPS are just as jiggly and nasty as before I bought this piece of equipment. In the last week and a half my machine has started producing an unbearable squeak. It was mild and slightly annoying before, but WD40 seemed to clear it up- temporarily. Now nothing seems to help. I am starting to dread using it because every time I step down it starts this high pitched annoying and loud squeak. I can find information anywhere on how to remedy this. If this machine were built a little more sturdy and there was a way to eliminate this squeak, I'd highly recommend the product. It is a great workout, though I'm not sure we'll all end up looking like they say. My only hang up is the squeak.

It gave me a great workout. Then I got bored with it and it sat in the corner for several months. I was up to 30 minutes a day. I pull it out everynow and then, and I plan to get back into a regular daily routine. I must say that I was displeased with the VHS tape. I have DVD players in my home and cannot view the tape while working out. The squeaking was VERY annoying, but tolerable. I must say It is a great cardio workout. I ususally work out on it while I am on the phone or watching television. It is a great compliment to my pilates. I must agree that it is very cheaply made, but if it you can get it to work it is a great workout.

Right now the only place I am feeling the workout in is my legs right above my knees, they feel like they spasm when I get done. I wonder if that's where you should feel it or if Im doing something wrong? I thought maybe it takes a while to feel it in the other parts of your body.

It was all fun and games until the lever fell off. I screwed it in like the directions said, but while I was working out it completely fell out. Also, the pedels squeaked and snapped. Then it started to go really fast and wouldn't slow down for restistance. I wouldn't really recommend it.

I found that White Lithium Grease (found in automotive department at most local department stores) worked better then WD-40. It is heavier and I think it lubricates better. It doesnt drip all over like the WD-40 can. Other then that, my only complaint is the step counter not working. But I went and bought an inexpensive pedometer from a sporting goods store, and I just strap that on and go! I love this product and have seen/felt results. I just wish it was made better!

I agree with others that the overall qualilty of the machine could be better but if you want a great hip, thigh, butt, and cardio machine, this is it. I get a more challenging workout on my LTT than on my treadmill or bike. I have chronic low back pain and can use this machine every day. For those who get a sore back, try balancing with your hands on the back of a chair and try to stay as upright as possible.

For the first month or so I enjoyed it and would do it about every day, switching between the beginner workout and the advanced workout. It squeeked after the first week, but I didn't mind it too much. Soon the resistance control thing stopped working and I had no resistance and the squeeking got worse.. It became way too easy to use and I didn't feel like I got any sort of workout. I was going to just throw it away, but a friend of mine (who is in pretty bad shape) wanted it, so I gave it to her. From what I understand, it doesn't get much use at her house either. I would not recommend buying this product.

I thought i'd take a chance! Got it on Dec 26th (approx) and have been using it steadily since. Yes, it squeeks alot..but it's bearable, i haven't had time to get any oiling done. If you turn the knob for the resistance you can make it so it doesn't wander back to original position. Other than the fear of it breaking and not being able to return it, It's been working well for me since i started over a month ago! I've managed to visibly lose weight (as i don't like looking at scales)And i'm impressed with how it makes me active without making me tired and feeling overworked. Luckly, i can stick it in to my already busy schedule and that's why i got it! So yeah, for the most part, it's been a positive purchase. Oh yeah, and it seems to leave some grease on the floor...weird.

I love this product and am motivated to use it as often as possible. No squeaking or breaking parts. The workout video is a little boring, but next time I'll just mute the TV and turn up the CD player. I would reccomend this product to anyone. I use this along with my Pilates and dance routine. It is the best supplement to my workout that I have ever had. Trust me, I am one to have tried every product out there. If you're having a hard time deciding wether to buy it, don't listen to negative remarks. Go out and have a good time with it!

I replaced the broken link the first time myself, someone else fixed it the second and third time. Customer Service is non-existent. It is cheaply made as the third time the chain broke I had someone weld a sturdier chain on it so that it would function and not break. It is the only exercise that I feel works for me (I have bad knees and limited schedule). I do it every morning. Just wish it were better made and customer service cared about satisfying their customers as one could be seriously injured if the chain breaks during an intense workout.

From the beginning it squeaked so oiled it with WD-40 and it worked. I did 20-30 minutes every day. It gave me a great workout and I loved it. The squeak came back so I oiled it again but this time the squeak did not disappear. The tension knob would NOT stay on the highest level even though I tightened the knob. I followed the directions about not stepping down on the bar and I don't feel I abused it in any way. I was so disappointed because I think it's a good machine, if only they made it better. After I returned it, I went to Sharper Image and bought their mini-stepper. They have a 3 year replacement guarantee.

I did notice the squeak that a lot of people talk about, but so far it's not too loud or annoying, and I'll use some WD40 on it, which should help. I've been doing two 20-minute workouts a day, since I'm so anxious to get back into an exercise routine and lose some of this horrifying jiggly flab that has appeared on my body the last few months! I do find that my heartrate seems to increase nicely and I break a sweat. I started adding 5-pound free weights for the upper body workout. I did notice some low back pain for the first time last night, so I may have overdone it. I'll use it without free weights for another week or so and then try again. I bought mine at a local store and was told I can return it no problem, so I felt comfortable taking a chance on it. I wanted something that I could use in my home on a regular basis and plan to get back into my trips to the gym also. But with 3-year-old twins at home time to work out outside the home is tough to come by! So my review is a postive one, but I would suggest trying to buy it from a local store to make a return easier, should you decide you don't like it.

When I use it I go about 1600-2000 strides (about 30 min). However, I don't feel sore or "worked out" the next day. I was a little concerned about that since I'm used to TaeBo where you feel like you are going to die afterward. The chain does squeak and is annoying but mine only does it when I put it on more resistance. I hate how when you go to pick it up and the two back, black "feet" always fall off. I have had some knee pain with it too but find that if I consistently put all of the weight in my heels, it either goes away or is tolerable. I feel that this machine is good for resistance in your butt and thighs and is also a pretty good cardio workout. I use mine while watching The View (instead of the video) and time flies by. I would recommend it but buy a can of WD40 along with it.

I started out at 5 minute increments and then slowly began working my way up. I am now doing 30 minute stints almost twice a day. I lost at least 10lbs and I am still going strong. The only MAJOR downfall to the machine is that the squeaking is annoying. I can't work out late like I like to because the sound is enough to wake the dead. I have exchanged it twice already and after about a week, even the new machine squeaks. If you can tolerate high pitched squeaking and you want to lost weight and tone up, I definetly suggest trying it out!

I'm also not quick to jump into the bandwagon and buy an infomercial product from TV because it sounds so good to be true. Well after doing some extensive research I did buy the Lateral Thigh Trainer and I will have to say it was the BEST $99 investment I ever made for exercise equipment!!!! Let me tell you that it is pretty sturdy and made pretty well. Now if you are some of the UNLUCKY few who bought Brenda Dygraf's Lateral Thigh STRIDER and I mean the STRIDER not the Lateral Thigh Trainer, then that's the reason why you ended up with a piece of junk. The Lateral Thigh Strider, it seems, was Brenda's first prototype of this kind of stepper. It is very cheaply made, the movement isnt very smooth and noisy. I too bought the STRIDER because I thought it was a deal at $56. But it wasnt. Thankfully, I bought it from [] and returned it and bought the Lateral Thigh Trainer instead. Now, if you bought the Lateral Thigh Trainer and it was delivered to your home, it might have gotten damaged during delivery. Very easy to happen. I suggest ordering it directly from a store. I bought mine from [] and they had a sample out so you could try it. I will have to say that it does tend to squeak a bit when using it more than 25 minutes. However with a little grease and some minor tweaks, it is fine. I just bought the powercords and advanced video and should be getting it in the mail soon. BUt u can use free weights as well. I do about 30 minutes a day while I am watching Tv and its great. I recommend it! [] also sells it with the advanced video included and u can also buy the powercords on [] separately!!!

I move my arms up and down in order to work the upper area. I am now a size 6, instead of a size 10. I haven't measured yet, but I think the size reduction speaks for itself. I had mixed feelings about it at first, as others have mentioned. My first one arrived and was broken in the box. They returned it without a problem, and even sent my new one before I shipped the first one back to them. So far, everything on the unit works. I'll keep my fingers crossed. It was an awkward movement at first, but it's easy and feels good now.

I have both positive and negative things to say about it. Mostly positive outweigh the negative though. First the positives: It does work! Doesn't hurt my knees but then again I do not lock them, as instructed. I have noticed toning in the bottom portion of my body, especially since losing 12 lbs in a couple of months. I also add weight lifting and simple toning exercises to my daily exercise routine but always include the LTT for 30-40 minutes every day. It's easy to use, makes you concentrate on your core area by focusing on stabilization, it works your areas quickly, you feel the burn and start to break a sweat in about 15 minutes into the routine (on highest setting.) Ok, now the negative: after awhile it develops a VERY annoying squeak that I cannot get rid of (HELP). It's so annoying that I do not use it now even after oiling every part of it. The tension control lever does not stay put in the highest position. It moves by itself to the middle position, making me stop my high intensity workout to have to put it in the highest position. Overall: Would like these kinks worked out before recommending it to others but I really like the machine. It's unfortunate I cannot use it now due to the high pitch sqeak.
