    Detailed Itinerary: -

    DAY 01: AHMEDABAD - COCHIN BY: FLIGHT (approx. 3hrs 40mns)

    Board your flight from Ahmedabad and arrive at Cochin.

    COCHIN: (Kochi) is a modified form of the word 'Cochazhi' which in Malayalam means 'small sea'. The major part of the

    city lies at sea level along the coastline of around 48 km. Spread over an area of 94.88 sq km, Kochi is the second larges

    city of Kerala.

    Attracting tourists from around the world, Fort Kochi, Bolghatty Palace and the

    backwaters are major highlights of the city. The city also has a strong inclination

    towards the arts and tourists visiting Kochi can visit places like the Kerala Folklore

    Theatre where people can watch plays or even spend time at the museum. Also know

    for its Ayurvedic centres, tourists can also indulge in some treatments at the many

    Ayurvedic spas in the city.

    You will be met upon arrival by a MakeMyTrip representative and then, proceed to hotel in Cochin (Kochi). Check in to the

    hotel and relax.

    Later in the evening, you may explore local markets and enjoy some local Keralan cuisine (on your own).

    Return back to hotel in the evening.

    DAY 02: COCHINMUNNAR BY: ROAD (135kms/4hrs)

    After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel by 0900hrs and proceed for a quick half day sightseeing tour of Fort Koch

    covering Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis church, Chinese fishing nets.

    Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace): was originally built by the Portuguese. Later, in

    17th century, the Dutch modified it and presented it to the Raja of Kochi. Coronation

    of many Rajas of Kochi was held here. The palace has a fine collection of mural

    paintings depicting scenes from the Hindu epics Mahabharatha and Ramayana. The

    palace is located in Mattancherry. (Closed on Friday)

    Jewish Synagogue: The synagogue, built in 1568, is magnificently decorated by Chinese

    tiles and Belgian chandeliers. Giant scrolls of the Old Testament can be found here. It is

    located near the Dutch Palace in Mattancherry. (Closed on Friday and Saturday.)

    St. Francis church: It is the oldest church built by Europeans in India. On his 3rd visit

    to Kerala, Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese trader who reached India from Europe by

    sea, fell ill and died in Kochi. He was buried in the St. Francis Church. Later his

    remains were taken back to Portugal. In spite of that, his burial spot inside the

    church has been clearly marked out.

    Chinese fishing nets: (Cheenavala) are distinctly unique to Cochin. It is believed that

    traders from the court of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan introduced these nets here

    Oddly, these nets are found only in Kochi, outside China! Many fishermen earn thei

    livelihood by fishing using these massive nets. A whole stretch of the coast along Fort

    Kochi and Vypeen are dotted with these nets.

    Later in the afternoon, proceed for Munnar, a beautiful hill station. On the way stop at some good restaurant and lunch

    will be served today.

    Munnar: Breathtakingly beautiful - A heaven of peace and tranquility - The idyllic tourist destination in God's own

    country.

    Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, Munnar was the favored summer resort

    of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Unending expanse of tea

    plantations - pristine valleys and mountains- exotic species of flora and fauna in its

    wild sanctuaries and forests - aroma of spice scented cool air - yes! Munnar has all

    these and more. It's the place you would love to visit - it's the place you would wish

    never to leave.

    On the way stop at a good restaurant to munch and fill your appetite.

    On arrival at Munnar, check into hotel and spend time at leisure.

    You may go to visit the local market in the evening as Munnar is famous for its Tea plantation (on your own).

    Return to the hotel.

    DAY 03: MUNNAR LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

    After breakfast, take a sightseeing tour of Munnar visiting the Tata Tea Museum and enjoy the beautiful serenity of

    Munnar (famous for its Tea plantation). (Closed on Monday) and Eravikulam National Park to get a view of variety of

    flaura and fauna.

    Tata Tea Museum: in the Nallathanni Estate tells the eventful story of Munnar; its

    transformation from an uninhabited stretch of forest land to a plantation town. The

    highlights of the museum include old machineries used for tea processing, photograph

    and some other curious displays that throw light on the efforts of some adventurous

    planters who dared to conquer the wild with minimal equipment and little resource.

    Guests will be shown tea plantation on Mondays since Tata Tea Museum remains

    closed.

    Eravikulam National Park: is 97 sq. km. in extent, situated along the crest of the

    Western Ghats in the High Ranges of Idukki district of Kerala state, India.

    The Park holds the largest viable population of the endangered (IUCN) Nilgiri Tahr

    (Hemitragus hylocrius).Apart from tahr, the Park is the abode of other little known fauna such as Nilgiri

    marten, ruddy mongoose, small clawed otter, dusky striped squirrel etc.

    Enjoy local food / cuisine at a good restaurant.

    Later in the afternoon, visit Mattupetty Lake & Dam, Echo Point famous for its Echo Phenomenon.

    Mattupetty Dam: Situated at a height of 1700 Mts , Mattupetty is famous for its highly

    specialised dairy farm, the Indo-swiss live stock project. Over 100 varietes of high

    yielding cattle are reared here.

    The Mattupetty lake and dam , just a short distance from the farm, is a very beautifu

    picnic spot. The sprawling Kundala tea plantations and the Kundala lake are othe

    attractions in the vicinity.

    Echo Point: is situated about 13 km away from Munnar town, towards the Top

    Station or Top Slip. Echo Point is a phenomenon found in most of the hill stations.

    Munnar also has an Echo Point at a scenic lake bank. At Echo Point, people can

    clearly hear their loud voice echoing within the reservoir.

    Evening return back to the hotel and enjoy rest of the evening at leisure.

    DAY 04: MUNNARTHEKKADY BY: ROAD (110kms/4hrs)

    After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel by 0900hrs and drive to Thekkady.

    Thekkady:India's largest wildlife sanctuary is a dream destination for any tourist visiting

    India .The Country's sole Tiger reserve, Thekkady, with its bountiful treasures of tropica

    flora and fauna is the ultimate reservoir of many an endangered species and a rich tribaculture. Thekkady is a pleasant heaven on earth for those who love nature in its wild

    manifestations.

    On Arrival check into the hotel and lunch (on your own).

    Afternoon, proceed for a boat cruise through at Periyar Lake in Thekkady which will

    be a soul stirring tour with the cool crisp breeze boat ride. Thekkady is synonymous

    with wildlife and nature treks.During your houseboat cruise you could stopover at

    this fascinating town and watch the wild animals in their natural habitat.

    Periyar Lake: Located in the heart of the forest, Periyar Lake is famous fostering a

    wide species of wildlife. Boating can be enjoyed on this lake, which serves as the

    reservoir of the dam that provides water to the forest.

    Later in the evening, get transferred to the theatre (Non Ac) to experience traditional Kathakali Show.

    Kathakali Show: Kathakali is the classical dance-drama of Kerala, South India, which

    dates from the 17th century. It has a unique combination of literature, music, painting

    acting and dance.

    Kathakali is a very popular dance form with tourists visiting Kerala. It is actually a dance

    drama performed by mostly male artist. The actors convey the message of the story

    through very expressive facial movements and mudras (hand gestures).

    Get involved into some shopping or one can opt for Spice Plantation Tour or Elephant Ride (on direct payment basis) in

    the evening.

    Return back to the hotel in the evening and enjoy time at leisure.

    DAY 05: THEKKADYKUMARAKOM BY: ROAD (130kms/4.5hrs)

    After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel at Thekkady, go for Spice Plantation Tour which will last for an hour, later

    which you may indulge for some Spice shopping(on direct payment basis).

    There are various kinds of spices cultivated in Thekkady. The most abundantly found spice in Thekkady is pepper. Bu

    there is a variety of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves on the slanting slopes of the spice

    plantation in Thekkady.

    Kumarakom: Kumarakom is a serenely beautiful and scenic backwater destination,

    a charming peninsula jutting into the ever-effervescent Vembanad Lake that is

    dotted with plenty of traditional rice boats and canoes, leaving a scene that is

    immensely pleasing to the eye. When nature is all you need to recuperate,

    Kumarakom is undoubtedly one of the most invigorating and fascinating places to

    unwind in Kerala.

    Check into the hotel and enjoy rest of the day at leisure.

    Later in the evening go for evening boat cruise on the backwaters for an hour.

    Return back to the hotel and one can opt for a traditional Ayurveda Massage.

    DAY 06: KUMARAKOM - KOVALAM via TRIVANDRUM BY: ROAD (175kms/5hrs)

    After breakfast, check out of the hotel at Kumarakom and drive to Kovalam.

    On arriving at Trivandrum, halt at a good restaurant to fill your appetite. Later visit Napier Museum and zoological park,

    a walk through the lush green zoo will be a memorable experience.(Closed on Mondays).

    Napier Museum: The Napier Museum showcases Kerala chariots and ivory carvings. It also

    houses an array of priceless aesthetic and ethnic antiques. Kathakali puppet models, stone

    sculptures, wood and ivory carvings, lamps, fabrics, handicrafts, Kuftgiri items, musica

    instruments and a collection of the Chera, Chola, Pandya coins, bronze idols of Hindu Gods

    are few of the items displayed here.

    Zoological Park: The museum campus also holds a Zoological Garden. This was established

    by erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore - Sree Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama Varma - as an

    annex to the Napier Museum. The zoo has different varieties of species - the Lion tailed

    Macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Nilgiri Tahr, One Horned Great Indian Rhino, Asiatic Lion, Royal

    Bengal Tiger, Giraffe, Hippo, Zebra, and Cape buffalo.

    Later in the evening, proceed towards Kovalam.

    Kovalam, the Paradise of South India means Groove of coconut trees. Kovalam is

    situated 16 kms from the Capital of Kerala is a city with four sandy bays.

    The Samudra Beach, Kovalam Beach, Hawa Beach and the light house beach are wha

    gives Kovalam its beauty. Kovalam is also famous for its Ayurvedic massages and many

    yoga resorts. Meditation and herbal body toning are some of the things which traveler

    are treated to, for a rejuvenating experience. A number of cultural programs are alsoorganized along with a catamaran cruise to add to your Kerala experience!

    DAY 07: KOVALAMKANYAKUMARI - KOVALAM (By ROAD: 87Kms one way)

    After breakfast, proceed to Kanyakumari (approx. 87KM one way), Visit Kumari Amman Temple, Vivekananda rock

    memorial, Gandhi Mandapam, and the beautiful statue of Tiruvalluvar, and 3 ocean meeting point as Indian Ocean, Bay

    of Bengal and Arabian Sea and return to Kovalam by evening.

    Kumari Amman Temple: The Kumari Amman Temple overlooks the shores from

    KanyaKumari. The place KanyaKumari got its name from the Goddess KanyaKumari

    Amman who is the popular deity of this area. According to the legends, the goddess

    Parvati did penance in this place to obtain lord Shiva as her husband. When she was

    not successful in her penance, she vowed to remain virgin. Thus the temple is

    dedicated to Parvati in the form of Devi Kanya, the virgin goddess. the idol of the

    goddess Parvati has a sparkling diamond on her nose, which is supposed to outshinethe sea.

    (The non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the temple. The temple opens from 0430 hrs to 1130 hrs in the morning and

    from 1730 hrs to 2030 hrs in the evening.)

    Vivekananda Rock Memorial is one of the most interesting places to see in the

    southern part of India. It is situated in Kanyakumari and it is a fort and an island.

    Vivekananda Rock Memorial stands on top of a two rocks that are situated

    approximately 500 meters off the island. Although the Vivekananda Rock Memoria

    itself is fairly recent and built around the 1970's, the two rocks themselves have been

    there since the millennia. It is thought that the great philosopher Swami Vivekananda

    had meditated on the rock seeking enlightenment.

    Gandhi Mandapam: is located near the Kumari Amman Temple, constructed at the

    spot where the urn containing the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi was kept for public view

    before a portion of its contents was immersed in the three seas. It resembles an

    Oriyan temple and was designed so that on Gandhiji's birthday (2nd October), the

    sun's rays fall on the place where his ashes were kept.

    Statue of Thiruvalluvar: is located at Kanyakumari in the state of Tamilnadu in India. The statue

    catches the attention of the visitors by the virtue of its size as well as the sculpture. This is the

    statue of Tamil poet and saint Thiruvalluvar, the man who propounded in verses the Indian way

    of life and, emphasizing on the importance of wealth, love and virtue.

    Spend some leisure time at the beach.

    Later in the evening start your drive towards Kovalam.

    Return back to hotel and spend time on leisure and relax/

    DAY 08: KOVALAM - TRIVANDRUM BY: ROAD (35kms/1hrs)

    Things One Should Know While Travelling To Kerala

    Travel wear: Cotton outfits, hats, sunglasses, and remember to carry sunscreen lotion when you travel to Kerala, India. Credit cards: Main hotels, restaurants and shopping centers honor major credit cards. Currency: Indian Rupee (INR) Food: All standard restaurants offer a variety of cuisines including Continental, Chinese, Indian and typical Kerala fare. Water: Tap water is purified and quite safe to drink. It is not advisable to drink water from slow moving streams, lakes o

    dams. Mineral water is available in sealed bottles.

    Temple codes: Footwear inside the temple and entry into the sanctum sanctorum is not permitted in all the temples.Some temples do not permit entry to non-Hindus, while some do. Shirts for men and trousers are not permitted in some

    temples and allowed in some others. Where they are banned, men have to be in mundus and women in saris, salwar

    kameezes or long skirts.

    Ayurvedic treatment: If you wish to undergo Ayurvedic treatment, it is very important to ensure that you go to anauthorized center when you travel to Kerala, India.
