    SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

CLEARing Participation - Active Citizenship for Sustainable Democracy is a transnational

project which was recently approved on the scope of the European Comissions Programme

Europe for Citizens. The partnership is composed by Inducar (Portugal), Antigona Procesos

Participativos (Spain) and Citizens in Action (Greece).

It is a follow-up project of Participatory Democracy and Equal Opportunities a empowering

strategy for local intervention agents, promoted by Inducar, from december 2008 to march

2011. Throughout the implementation of this project, several points for continuancy have

arised and the field practices have gave birth to new participatory initiatives, at national level.

Therefore, the logic step to take was to ensure a follow up, with a transnational feature.

With this new project we will aim to:

    1. empower agents of social intervention, on the 3 partner countries, for the promotion of

Participatory Democracy as a factor of social inclusion and promotion of equal opportunities,

    2. support and potentially multiply participatory democracy based projects implemented on the

    3 partner countries.

The project will last 18 months and includes this long term training course (composed by 3

seminars, one in each partner country and a final conference, in Portugal), the creation and

management of a virtual platform of communication and learning (which will be converted in a

Participatory Democracy Resources Centre, in the end of the project), the implementation of

pilot projects, on a local level, with coaching support and, finally, the publication of a training

kit (including a good practices guide) on Participatory Democracy.
