Tarifa se ha convertido en la playa más frecuentada por los kite-surfistas de toda Europa y es sin duda referencia mundial… la mecadel kitesurf. Todo esto es gracias sus vientos de levante, poniente,largas y amplias playas de arena además de gran variedad de sitiosdonde navegar según sople más o menos fuerte. Si además le su-mamos que estamos en medio del parque natural de los alcornoca-les y el parque natural del estrecho, hace que Tarifa sea un lugarincreíble e inigualable.Hay muchas cosas que podríamos decir del kitesurf, pero las másimportantes a resaltar serían las sensaciones de libertad que teofrece, lo divertido, fácil y seguro que resulta hoy en día aprendery practicar este deporte.Hace 12 años, cuando empezábamos a ver los primeros kites era undeporte de riesgo ya que el material y los conocimientos que setenía entonces eran muy limitados y solo un reducido número depersonas se aventuraba a probarlo.Hoy en día es un deporte extremadamente seguro, abierto a casitodas las edades ya que se basa en la técnica y el sentido común,no en la fuerza o forma física.Desde los 8-9 años ya se puede acceder al deporte a través de uncurso y como límite de edad… según la disposición y movilidad decada persona, pero hay aprendices de incluso 70 años. El único re-quisito importante es saber nadar y tener muchas ganas de disfrutar.Lo ideal para iniciarse es hacerlo en una escuela oficial y profesio-nal, un centro con experiencia, dedicación y pasión por este de-porte. Con esto te aseguras un aprendizaje seguro y de calidad.Lo que hace grande este deporte es la variedad de modalidades quepuedes practicar según le guste a cada persona:FREESTYLE: es la parte más vistosa en competición, ya que se tratade hacer diferentes trucos y maniobras técnicas y radicales. Hoy endía los trucos más comunes son los que se hacen desenganchandola cometa del arnés y soportando toda la potencia de la cometa sóloen los brazos. Esta forma de navegar es la que más gusta sobre todoa los más jóvenes. Se utilizan tablas bidireccionales o twintips.SURF KITE: se trata de surfear olas con la ayuda del kite. Esta mo-dalidad esta creciendo mucho en los últimos dos años y ademásesta captando deportistas que vienen del skate, surf y body board.Se utilizan tablas de surf reforzadas y con cinchas para sujetar lospies.RACE: se trata de una carrera. Un circuito de boyas en el agua, unasalida y una llegada, con lo que resulta muy fácil para cualquieraver quien gana.Las tablas que se utilizan son muy especiales... son direccionales,anchas, para ir con poco viento, varias posiciones para los pies yvarias quillas mucho mas grandes de lo normal.TRAVESIAS: no es una modalidad de competición, se trata de nave-gar, normalmente a favor del viento y disfrutar de una excursiónpor lugares inaccesibles por otro medios. Además estas travesiasse pueden utilizar para hacer freestyle, surfear olas y demás...

Si a lo lejos observamosun gran soplo puede ser el de un rorcual, el se-gundo animal más grande del planeta, que atra-viesa el Estrecho de Gibraltar en su rutamigratoria. Impresionante es, también, la coladel cachalote, animal de 18 metros y hasta 50toneladas que se deja ver entre inmersión e in-mersión para alimentarse de los calamares gigan-tes en profundidades de hasta 1000 metros. Losgrupos de Calderones se dejan ver con gran fre-cuencia, con los cuales podemos intercambiarmiradas como si de un saludo se tratase. Cada año desde el inicio de la primaverahasta agosto atunes que pueden alcan-zar 3 metros y 700 kg pasan cerca de lacosta del Estrecho de Gibraltar bus-cando en el Mediterraneo un lugar para

desovar. El atún puede vivir hasta 35 años siendocapaz de reproducirse una vez que alcanza entrelos cinco y ocho años de edad. A pesar de la presencia de Almadrabas, o tram-pas de redes, su itinerario no ha cambiadodesde hace miles de años.Aunque la procedencia de la palabra almadrabasea árabe, significa lugar donde se golpea olucha, su origen es incluso anterior, pues ya losromanos las empleaban para la pesca del atúnen estas aguas. Quedan como testimonio deello las ruinas de Baélo Claudia en la playa deBolonia del siglo II a.C cuando la pesca, la in-dustria de salazón y el Garúm (salsa derivadadel mismo) eran las principales fuentes de ri-queza del lugar.La almadraba consiste en un complejo laberintode redes situadas a 3 Km de la costa y con másde 30 metros de profundidad que guían a losatunes a su paso hacia una trampa de la que nopueden escapar. La parte central de la alma-draba, llamada copo, dispone de una red en elfondo que izan los pescadores cuando ya se en-cuentran los atunes en ella. Esta última acciónse conoce en la zona como levantá y constituyela imagen típica de esta tradicional pesca delatún.

Las únicas almadrabas históricas que perduranen España son las de Barbate, Conil, Zahara delos Atunes y Tarifa, donde cada primavera sepreparan para la llegada de los atunes. Todo elproceso, desde la pesca, hasta la elaboraciónde la conserva se realiza en estas localidades,especialmente en Barbate.Este arte de pesca, ha constituido desde la an-tigüedad y hasta hoy en día el medio de vidade muchos pobladores de la costa del Estrechode Gibraltar. Por diversos motivos las capturas han disminuidoen los últimos años, quedando en el recuerdo elrécord de 1949 con 43.500 ejemplares.Las causas principales del descenso en la po-blación de atunes son la captura por parte debarcos atuneros y la pesca durante la tempo-rada de derecho, justo antes de que se efectúela puesta y fecundación de los huevos que im-pide la regeneración de la especie, En el Mediterráneo, la mayor parte de las cap-turas se lleva a cabo con redes de cerco, y sudestino son las granjas de engorde. Estas sumi-nistran atún rojo a los mercados asiáticos, fun-damentalmente Japón, para el consumo delproducto crudo. Casi todas las granjas se con-centran en el Mediterráneo central. A pesar delas cuotas de pesca existentes, las reservas deatún rojo, un pez muy valorado por los amantesdel sushi han disminuido hasta en un 90% enel Mar Mediterráneo y el Atlántico occidentaldesde 1970.

through the Straits of Gibraltar tospawning grounds in the Mediter-ranean. Tuna can live for up to 35years and start reproducing uponreaching maturity between the agesof 5 and 8 years of age. Tuna are caught by the traditionalmethod known as Almadraba. Thishas remained largely unchanged forthousands of years. Although theorigins of the word Almadraba is Ara-bic, meaning site of a battle, itssource is much earlier as Romansused the same techniques for fishingtuna in these same waters. The sec-ond century Roman ruins of BaéloClaudio at Bolonia are a good exam-ple of a centre developed to exploitthe extensive fishing and productionof Garum – a flavouring derived fromfermented fish guts. Garum broughtgreat wealth to the town. The Almadraba consists of a complexlabyrinth of nets more than 30 me-tres deep located 3 km from thecoast and is designed to guide thetuna into a trap from which theycannot escape. The central part ofthe trap known as “el copo” (thesnowflake) is a huge net that thefishermen hoist up when they havea catch. This last action of hoisting

the tuna out of the sea is known as“the raising” and the image to beseen in many photographs aroundtown is typical of this traditionaltuna fishing.The only Almadaba that remain inSpain are those of Barbate, Conil, Za-hara de los Atunes and Tarifa, whereeach spring preparations are madefor the arrival of the tuna. The entireprocess, from fishing to canning isalso carried out in these localities,especially in Barbate. Fishing pro-vides the livelihood of many villageson the coast of the Gibraltar Straits.The quantity of tuna fished over theyears has declined from the recordcatch in 1949 of 43,500 fish caught.The main cause for the diminishingnumber of tuna is the over-fishingby the efficient high-tech fishingvessels operating in the area. La Puerta de Jerez (1) es uno de los monumentosmás emblemáticos e importantes de la ciudad.Tras la conquista cristiana se ampliaron las mura-llas y se abrió la puerta de Jerez.En el año 2000 fue restaurada, habilitándose unespacio para la colocación del cuadro “El Cristo deLos Vientos” obra del artista Tarifeño GuillermoPérez Villalta. El escudo situado en la parte supe-rior de la puerta acompaña a la leyenda que re-cuerda la toma de la ciudad por sancho IV el Bravoen 1292.Saldremos desde la oficina de turismo, sita enpaseo de la Alameda, aquí se encontraba la Ermitadedicada a la Virgen del Sol (2), patrona de losmarineros. Esta Ermita estaba situada en el solarque hoy ocupa la oficina de Turismo, antigua bi-blioteca municipal.Nos dirigimos a la izquierda para adentramos en elcasco antiguo, pasando por el Mercado de Abas-tos (3), que funciona como tal desde 1928, aun-que data de 1536 como convento. En sus orígenesfue el convento de la santísima Trinidad de los tri-nitarios descalzos, orden religiosa cuya principalmisión era rescatar cautivos de los piratas berbe-riscos.Seguimos por las Plazas (4): San Martín, San His-cio, C/del Lorito, C/San Francisco, calle peatonal,turística y típica, en la que podemos contemplar

un número de bares y establecimientos, idealespara la noche tarifeña. Conectando a la izquierdacon la Calzada, calle principal de Tarifa, amplia ybulliciosa arteria de la ciudad, donde podremostomar algo y probar los suculentos pasteles y dul-ces tarifeños, de reconocido prestigio en la provin-cia de Cádiz. Observamos la Iglesia de San Mateo(5) , de estructura gótica terminada ya bien en-trado el siglo XVI. Conserva algunos cuadros y es-culturas barrocas de interés, así como varias obrasnotables de orfebrería. Frente a su fachada giramosa la derecha y encontramos el Casino y CárcelReal, Plaza de la Fuente (6) con la primera fuentede agua corriente instalada en Tarifa en el año1831. Subiendo a la izquierda hasta la Plazuela delViento se encuentra El Miramar (7), un miradorenclavado en la muralla. También encontramos elEdificio del Ayuntamiento en la Plaza de SantaMaría o de la ranita (8). Bajando las escaleras ygirando a la izquierda, al final encontramos el Cas-tillo de Guzmán el Bueno (9), datado del año960, por orden del califa Abderraman III, se le-vantó sobre las ruinas de un posible campamentomilitar romano.Recientes excavaciones arqueológicas efectuadasen el Castillo han descubierto la existencia de ves-tigios de la Edad de Bronce, época Púnica, Ibérica,así como del alto y bajo Imperio Romano desde su

etapa inicial republicana. Tras la conquista cris-tiana por el Rey Sancho IV El Bravo en 1294 se pro-duce el acontecimiento que ha dado renombremundial a Tarifa. La actitud heroica de Guzmán ElBueno, el cual prefirió sacrificar a su hijo antes deentregar a los musulmanes el castillo que el rey lehabía confiado. Seguimos por la calle de enfrente donde se ubicala Iglesia de San Francisco (10), de estilo Ba-rroco y Neoclásico.Volviendo al castillo, dejando el puerto a nuestraizquierda seguiremos hacia delante pasando por elpuerto pesquero, nos encontramos el Castillo deSanta Catalina (11), construido en la segunda dé-cada del siglo XX, siguiendo el estilo neorrenacen-tista. Parece ser que, antiguamente, allá por elsiglo XVI, en el cerro hubiera una ermita. Seguimoshasta adentrarnos en al camino de la isla de laspalomas (12), es en esta es donde se encuentrael punto más meridional de Europa, separando elmar Mediterráneo del Atlántico.En el año 1808 se construye el camino de la islaque hasta entonces estaba separada de Tarifa.

La Puerta de Jerez (1) is one of the most em-blematic and important monuments of the city,made after the Christian conquest expanded thewalls and opened the door of Jerez.In 2000 it was restored, allowing for the painting"El Cristo de Los Vientos" and work of Tarifeñoartist Guillermo Pérez Villalta. The shield is locatedat the top of the door and attached to the legendthat recalls the storming of the city by Sancho IVthe Brave in 1292.Departing from the tourist office and located inPaseo de la Alameda ist he chapel dedicated to theVirgen del Sol (2), the patron saint of sailors. Thischapel was located on the site now occupied bythe tourist office and former city library.

Turning left to move into the old town, past theMarket (3), which has existed since 1928 and tothis day continues, although data from 1536 showsthat is served as a convent of the Holy Trinity. TheTrinitarian had a bare religious order whose mainmission was to rescue captives from the Barbarypirates.Plazas (4) San Martín, San Hiscius, C/ del Lorito,C/ San Francisco, are pedestrian streets where youcan see a number of bars and shops, and are allideal for night out in Tarifa. Connecting with themain street of Tarifa, a large and bustling thor-oughfare of the town, where you can drink andtaste the delicious cakes and sweets renowned inTarifa, and throughout the province of Cadiz.

The Church of San Mateo (5) is Gothic structurecompleted in the sixteenth century. Here one canfind preserved Baroque paintings and sculptures ofinterest as well as several notable works of jewelry.To the right you can find the Casino, Jail andPlaza de la Fuente (the Fountain Square) (6)where the first source of running water was in-stalled in Tarifa in 1831. Close by is the Plaza delViento (the windy square) and Miramar (7), alookout point located at the wall. We also find theTown Hall building in the Plaza de Santa Mariaor the frog (8). Heading down the stairs and turn-ing left is the Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno (9)(Castle), dating from the year 960 by order ofCaliph Abderrahman III, and originally built on the

brisa moderada. Idónea para el Kitesurf entreseptiembre y junio. En los meses de veranosólo se puede navegar en el area habilitada.La zona de Dos Mares es genial para aprendi-ces y la más utilizada por las escuelas. Elviento de Levante en esta playa es un vientode tierra por lo que no se aconseja a inexper-tos. Con los cambios de mareas se forma unacharca que puede alcanzar 4 km de longitud. Hay una amplia oferta de chiringuitos a piede playa.

Es el principio de la playa de los Lances,pegada a la Isla y bañada por las pri-meras aguas del Océano Atlántico. Esuna de las playas preferidas de losamantes del surf.El bañista puede disfrutar de ella losdías de calma y levante flojo. De fácil acceso y cerca de aseos y du-chas. Cerca de restaurantes y tiendas dealimentación.

En Tarifa el viento protagoniza la vida de sus habitantes. Per-mite nevegar casi todo el año. Buceadores, nadadores, pes-cadores y también aquellos que no practican deportesnáuticos encontrarán su espacio junto al mar. Basta tomar ladecisión adecuada. A continuación te vamos a explicar todolo que debes saber para moverte con la habilidad de un local. Casi siempre el viento es de levante o poniente. Deberásusarlo o protegerte de él según tu interés. El mundo se divideen eolófilos y eolófobos.El levante en Tarifa es un viento cálido del este, que alcanzasu máxima fuerza al cruzar el Estrecho de Gibraltar. Puede lle-gar a rachas de 50 nudos. Se necesita experiencia para nave-gar en estas condiciones. Si lo tuyo es tomar el sol sinterminar sepultado por la arena debes apostar por la protec-ción que te brinda La Caleta, el Arte Vida, Paloma baja y unmontón de sitios. El poniente en nuestra localidad viene del mar. Es menos cá-lido y más constante. El sueño de los kiters es encadenar va-rios días con un ponientito de 25 nudos. Tenemos 35 kilómetros de costa con varias playas casi salvajesque han sobrevivido a la vorágine destructora de los cons-tructores. La condición de Parque Natural, el aislamiento ytambién Eolo nos han salvado.Las siguientes playas son nuestras preferidas:

Scuba-divers, swimmers, fishermen, and those who do notpractice water sports must also find their space close to the sea. Therefore, one mustmake the right decision about the wind. Below, we will explain all you need to knowto move through Tarifa like a local. The wind is almost always “levante” (east wind) and “poniente” (west wind). De-pending on your interests, you can use the wind or protect yourself from it. The worlddivides into “eolófilos” (those who love the wind) and “eolófobos”(those who hatethe wind).The “levante” in Tarifa is a warm wind blowing from the east, which reaches its max-imum strength as it crosses the Strait of Gibraltar. It can reach gusts of 50 knots. Oneneeds plenty of experience to windsurf or kitesurf in these conditions. It is the beginning of the beach “Los Lances”,connected to the Island and washed with thefirst waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It is afavourite among surf lovers.Swimmers can enjoy this beach on days withoutwind or with light levante.It is not recommended for aquatic sports.Easy to access and close to restrooms and show-ers. Close to restaurants and food shops.

Eight Kilometers of fine, golden sand.Perfect for bathing on calm days or with a mod-erate breeze. Ideal for Kitesurf between Sep-tember and June. In summer months sailing isonly permitted in the designated area.The area of Dos Mares (Two Seas) is perfect forbeginner kite and windsurfers and is the mostvisited by the kiteschools. Here the east wind(levante) comes off the land, therefore it is nota recommended condition for inexperienced rid-ers. Tide changes sometimes cause a large pud-dle of up to 4 km to form.There are several beach bars on the shore.

Una extensa dunapermite navegar con la seguridad de que cualquier contratiempo nos lle-vará hacia ella.Está balizada por zonas y es perfecta para el baño. Podemos disfrutar enel restaurante y chiringuito resguardados del viento. Sobre el césped,po-dremos tomar el sol y un mojito de sandía espectacular. En verano el po-niente funciona como un viento térmico, característico de la zona. Para llegar hasta la arena hay que bajar por unas escaleras.

Se elaboraba el “garúm”, manjar mítico muy apreciadoen la metrópoli. Podemos visitarla de martes a domingo. Posee un intere-sante museo. En verano se celebran espectáculos en su teatro bimilenario.Pocas experiencias son comparables con asistir a una función con el Es-trecho de Gibraltar de fondo y bajo las estrellas. Por si faltara algo, la en-trada es gratuita.

Detrás de la urbanización de Atlanterra encon-tramos una joya de la Costa de la Luz: la Playade los Alemanes. Desde Tarifa accedemos a estaplaya por la N-340 hasta Zahara de los Atunes.Seguimos hasta llegar a una cala romántica,localizada frente a una zona residencial de lujopegada a la montaña. Debemos bajar por unaescalera precaria que nos ayudará a mantener-nos en forma. Es perfecta para el bañista con vientos de le-vante o de poniente moderados.No dispone de restaurantes ni lugares de ocioa pie de playa. No debemos preocuparnos,están a pocos km en el pueblo de Zahara.

1500m. of crystalline water and an interesting sandformed by milliones of crushed shells.Behind the urbanization Atlanterra, we find a jewelof the Costa de la Luz (Coast of the Light): thebeach of the “Alemanes” (Germans). From Tarifa,this beach is reached from the N-340 to Zahara delos Atunes. Continue until an ancient Roman hold,situated in front of a luxurious residential zone nes-tled in the mountain. One must then go down a pre-carious set of stairs which serves also to keep us fit.A perfect place for swimmers and bathers in eastwinds and moderate west winds.No restaurants or bars are found on this beach, butno worries, it is only a few kilometres from the townof Zahara.

La antigua ciudad romana de BaeloClaudia está situada en la Ensenadade Bolonia a unos 22 km al noroestede la ciudad de Tarifa. El estudio de sus restos arquitectóni-cos muestra su origen romano a fina-les del siglo II a. C., observándose yadesde esa época una gran riqueza quela convierte en un centro económicoimportante dentro del área del Medi-terráneo.La ciudad nace a finales del siglo IIa. C. sobre un asentamiento fenicio-púnico más antiguo (Bailo, Baelo-kun), y su existencia está muyrelacionada con el comercio con elnorte de África (era el principalpuerto marítimo que enlazaba con laciudad de Tánger en Marruecos). Esposible que Baelo Claudia tuviera al-gunas funciones de centro adminis-trativo, pero la pesca, la industria de

salazón y el garum (unasalsa derivada delmismo) fueron las prin-

cipales fuentes deriqueza. El empe-rador romanoClaudio le conce-

dió el rango de municipium (munici-pio romano).La vida de estas poblaciones alcanzópleno esplendor entre los siglos I a.C. y II d. C., iniciándose su decaden-cia a partir de segunda mitad delsiglo II, cuando un gran maremotoarrasó gran parte de la ciudad. A susdesastrosos efectos se sumaron la cri-sis del siglo III y las incursiones dehordas de piratas, fundamentalmentemauritanos y germanos. Aunque ex-perimentó un ligero rebrote en elsiglo III, la ciudad fue abandonadadefinitivamente en el siglo VII.En el yacimiento se conservan loselementos más representativos queconstituían la esencia de una ciudadromana; ésta contaba con una cercao muralla, edificios de carácter admi-nistrativo como la curia (senadolocal) o el archivo municipal, unaplaza pública (foro), un palacio dejusticia (basílica judicial), situado enel foro frente a los templos, tieneplanta rectangular y mide 19,5 por35,5 metros, estaba presidida por unaestatua del emperador Trajano de másde tres metros de altura.

The ancient Roman city of Baelo Clau-dia is located in Bolonia about 22miles northwest of the city of Tarifa.The study of architectural remainsshow its Roman origin from the latesecond century C. and since then hasmaintained a wealth which makes itan important economic center in theMediterranean.A Phoenician-Punic settlement(Bailo,Baelokun) its existence is closely re-lated to trade with North Africa (it wasthe main sea port that connected withthe city of Tangier in Morocco). Claudia Baelo may have had otherfunctions for this administrative cen-ter, but fishing, salting industry andgarum (a sauce derived from it) werethe main sources of wealth. TheRoman Emperor Claudius made it partof the Municipium and therefore aRoman town.The life of these populations reached

full bloom between I a. C. and II d. C.,but began to decline from the secondhalf of the century, when a largetsunami devastated much of the city.Following these disastrous effects andadding to the crisis of the third cen-tury, were the hordes of pirates, mostlyMauritanians and Germans. Although it experienced a slight re-bound in the third century, the citywas finally abandoned in the seventhcentury.In this site are the remains of the mostrepresentative elements that constitutethe essence of a Roman city. Estos dos deportistas residentes en Tarifa han representado a España en losprimeros y en los últimos Juegos Olímpicos desde que el Windsurf se proclamoclase Olímpica. Los Angeles 1984 y Pekín 2009. Han pasado 25 años y hancambiado muchas cosas, desde el material utilizado hasta la técnica. Eduardollevaba material Windglider, muy pesado y no se podía usar arnés y Marinacon RsX de Neil Pryde mucho más ligero y técnico que el anterior.Eduardo Bellini, Mallorquín de 44 años llego a Tarifa en 1989 con 23 años,después de participar en dos juegos Olímpicos: Los Ángeles 1984 y Seúl en1988. En la primera ocasión sabia que no tenía opción a medalla. Se lo planteócomo un entrenamiento para los siguientes JJOO y se sorprendió así mismo enla primera manga quedando en tercer puesto, al final logró quedar en duodécimaposición. Para ser su primera competición olímpica no estuvo nada mal. A Seúlacudió de reserva y allí decidió que quería competir en otros estilos. Ha sido 11veces campeón de España, tercero del mundo en el circuito Indoor y subcam-peón en el circuito de velocidad.Marina Alabau, Sevillana de 25 años, empezó a competir con 12 y entresus mejores resultados podemos destacar los 3 años como primera delranking mundial, cuarta posición en Pekín 2009, campeona del mundoen 2009 y 4 campeonatos de Europa. Actualmente reside entre Santander y Tarifa, donde entrena parapoder asistir a los próximos juegos Olímpicos(Londres 2012) yquiere conseguir la medalla de oro. Con la experiencia acumuladaestá convencida de que ese será su año.Marina nos cuenta que los JJOO fue una experiencia inolvidable y apesar de que las condiciones no fueron las mejores por la falta deviento, a punto estuvo de conseguir una medalla. Su cuarto puesto esla mejor posición que ningún español hasta ahora a conseguido en estaclase Olímpica.Marina Y Edu coinciden en lo mismo. Lo que más les impactó fue la villa Olím-pica y estar rodeado de los mejores deportistas de todo el mundo. Los dos compartie-ron hotel con el equipo español de baloncesto.

With thepassing of 25 years there have been many changeswithin the sport, from the gear that windsurfersuse to the techniques and tricks that they perform. Eduardo Bellini, aged 44 from Mallorca arrived inTarifa in 1989 at 23 after participating in theOlympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 and in Seoulin 1988. During the first Games he thought he hadno chance to win a medal so he decided to use theoccasion as training for the next Olympics. He was

surprised to find himself in third position after thefirst heat and managed to achieve a final twelfthposition. In Seoul, Eduardo attended as reserveand from then on decided that he would also com-pete in other styles. He has been the champion ofSpain 11 times, 3rd in the world at the Indoor Cir-cuit and 2nd in the speed circuit. Marina Alabau, 25 from Seville started competingat 12 years of age. Her most outstanding achieve-ments have been the 3 years that she ranked firstin the world, her 4th position in the Olympics of2009, becoming the world champion in 2009 andher 4 wins at European competitions.

Marina currently lives between Tarifa and Santanderwhere she is in training for the London Olympics in2012. With all of the experience she has accumu-lated she is sure that 2012 will be her year.Marina told us what an unforgettable experienceBeijing was and how she almost managed to win amedal despite the wind conditions not being ideal.Her achievement of fourth place is the best ever at-tained by a Spanish national at Olympic level. Marina and Eduardo agree that the atmosphereof the Olympic Stadium and being surroundedby the best sportsmen in the world pushes themto do well.
