Classroom Ideas Create Video Reports Both teachers and students can use video to create high-quality video
reports to demonstrate their comprehension of abstract concepts.
Provide Out-Of School Experiences
Both teachers and students can use video to document and record
events outside of the school and that has relevance to the units being
taught in the classroom e.g., field trips . These videos can be brought to
the classroom and shared with the whole class.
Create Book Trailers/Reports
Students can use video to create engaging book trailers or reports.
TV Newscast Activity Objective: Students will write a newscast script and examine various forms of media to
communicate information.

QR Codes • QR Codes (or “Quick Response Codes”) are similar to bar
codes.
• The code consists of colored modules arranged in a square
pattern on a white background.
• QR codes can store a lot information – plain text, web page
addresses, raw data, etc.
• QR code use is on the rise in education because they are
easy to create, easy to read and students are intrigued by
them. That makes them perfect to integrate into the
classroom to increase learning among our students.

Storytelling Ideas Planning for a digital story is a key to success.
What are you or your students trying to teach or what story do you or your
students want to tell through your project?
Examples of types of stories include:
• Create a story to introduce yourself; consider using your own photos,
drawings, or photos gathered from the Internet to represent ideas
• Curriculum focus - such as introducing a concept or explaining
something in your curriculum
• Explain a classroom rule, procedure, or tip for success.
• Tell a story about a significant event in your life - have a beginning,
middle and end (climax)
• Animate an original poem
• Create an adapted folktale about a famous person or animate a fairy
tale with a moral at the end
a dbenner.org | [email protected] | @diben #TCEA17
Paper Slide View Guidelines
1. One Take Students should create their storyboard and
practice. They only get ONE SHOT at recording.
2. Non Stop Video Once the camera starts, it doesn’t stop! Be well-
rehearsed.
3. No Editing Part of this quick process is due to the “no
editing” rule.
4. Quick Publishing Share to your class blog, or YouTube.

Paper Slide View
Digital Story Activity Objective: Students will write a script and create a digital story.
Students will use the iPad to effectively communicate.
1. Get into groups of 3 – 4 people.
2. Send one group member up to pick up 5 or 6 sheets
of paper.
3. Include a Title Slide, Group Slide, Beginning Slide,
Middle Slide, and End Slide.
4. Storyboard your story.
5. Draw your story on the blanks sheets of paper.
6. Decide who is doing what. You will need a slide
puller and a narrator.
7. Practice reading the story or script before recording.
8. Using an app of your choice, create a digital story.
9. Watch your story. Re-record if needed.
10. Share your story.
Follow the directions below to complete this activity.
Take it Further:
• Create a story map or storyboard
that depicts a sequence of images
that readers will see.
• Story maps can be created with
paper and pencil, by using an app
such as Popplet lite, or with a
printed or electronic storyboard
template.

Parts of Speech Lesson Directions:
1. Have students get into groups of six (can
be more or less)
2. Assign each student one part of speech - 1
verb, 1 noun, 1 adjective, 1 adverb, and 2
free words
3. Using the ABC Magnetic app, have
students, spell out their word making sure
they use the part of speech they were
assigned
4. Once each word is created, the group
forms a sentence with their six words
Note: They can change a word or two if
necessary.
