Mount Rushmore Rushmore is the mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota It’s a mountain which has the Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln,

Roosevelt are carved in the rock. It is important because it shows the faces of some of our most important

presidents. Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers are the people responsible for building this

sculpture in Mount Rushmore. This site represents that anything can be done if you put your mind to it,

because the Presidents sculpted surely accomplished that which seemed impossible.

Statue of Liberty The Statue of Liberty Is located on Liberty Island in New York, New York It is a giant statue in the harbor of New York City. The statue is important because it represents the end of slavery, democracy,

immigration, hope, Post 9-11. Frederic Auguste Bartholdi designed the statue but it was all

those of the French who sacrificed the blood and sweat to build her that made it all possible.

The Statue of Liberty represents to me what this country stands for. She stand tall never wavering, never fearing, confident, and most importantly free.

Golden Gate Bridge The Golden Gate Bridge is located in San Francisco, California. The Golden Gate Bridge is a red suspension bridge spanning the bay of San

Francisco. Not only is it the high light of San Fran. but it’s also a gateway to northern

California. Joseph Strauss, Irving Morrow, and Charles Ellis are the primary designers of

the bridge. The many works who worked so hard, some even gave their life to build this bridge. Those are truly responsible for it’s creation.

The bridge represents a engineering marvel of its time, many thought it couldn’t be done. However it still stands today.

Smithsonian Institutes There are several locations of the institutes Several being Washington, DC. The Smithsonian Institution are place that collect and preserve history as well

as showcase rare and fascinating things. The preservation of the worlds past history is important to the knowledge we

have in the future. Congress created The Smithsonian institutes in 1842. In all honesty I think Institutes of this nature are there to help the people that

come after us remember things of the past. The continuation of history as a race is carried out by these places.

Yellowstone National Park Yellowstone National Park is located on the Wyoming and Montana boundary. Yellowstone is a protected National Park, that is geologically active. It’s a National Park and therefore the wild life and habitat is protected from man. Yellowstone was the first National Park established by U.S. Congress and

signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. I think Yellowstone is one of only places Americans can go in the lower 48 and

see the spectacular geological events.

The Grand Canyon The Grand Canyon is located in Coconino County, Colorado. The Grand Canyon is a very large canyon carved by the Colorado River. The importance lies in the Wild Life, and the Hover Dam on the Colorado River. Of course the canyon was made entirely by nature, but President Roosevelt was

the first to seek to protect it from man. I think The Grand Canyon is a prime example of how powerful mother nature can

be and that it isn’t mans place to mess with her.

Gettysburg National Park Gettysburg Nation Park is in Adams County, Pennsylvania. The memorial, battlefield and cemetery of The Battle Of Gettysburg. This battle was one of the biggest loses the Civil War had seen and it is

important to honor those who fought. This was also a turning point for the war. A group of concerned citizens established the Gettysburg Battlefield Memorial

Association who's purpose was to preserve areas as a memorial to the Union Army.

I think this is a place to not only remember the soldiers but also to remember what out country came from and where it’s going.
