WHAT IS THE NLDC?
TheNLDCisanelectedcommitteeofsevenmemberswhoarechargedwithscreeningandevaluatingindividualsandnominatingcandidatesforsuchNationalPTAleadershippositionsaspresident-elect,secretary-treasurer,memberrepresentativestotheboardofdirectors,andtheNLDCcommitteeitself.
WHAT DOES THIS COMMITTEE DO?
Simply,theNLDCsolicitsandreviewscandidatesforNationalPTAleadershippositions.Thesepositionsinclude:Officers,BoardofDirectors,NLDC,andcommittees.Dependingontheleadershipposition,candidatesareeitherelectedbythePTAmembership,orappointedbytheNationalPTAPresident.
WHERE DOES THE NLDC GET SUGGESTIONS FOR CANDIDATES?
TheNLDCisopentoreceivingapplicationsfrominterestedcandidatesandalsowelcomesrecommendationsfromPTA’smembership.Aspartofitsrole,membersoftheNLDCalsoattendconferences,trainings,andmeetingsatthenationalandstateleveltotakesuggestionsandobserve PTAmembersinaction.N

WHAT IS THE NLDC LOOKING FOR AND HOW DOES IT DECIDE WHO TO NOMINATE?
TheNDLCidentifiescharacteristicsandskillsetsneededintheleadershipofNationalPTAtoaccomplishthestrategicplanandthenreviewscandidatestodetermineifthereisa“match”totheseneeds.Inthefinalstagesoftheprocess,interviewsareconductedwithcandidates.
WHO SERVES ON THE NLDC?
TheelectedmembersoftheNLDCrepresentadiversecross-sectionofPTA,includinggeographicrepresentation.Eachmemberservesa3-yeartermandisunabletoserveinanyotherpositionwithintheNationalPTAgovernancestructure.
