Originally a large farmhouse, Selly Manor dates back to the late 15th century. By the late 19th century, it was divided into three dwellings occupied by different families, then during the early 20th century it fell into a poor state with an uncertain future.

George Cadbury, founder of Bournville, bought the building in 1907 and arranged for it to be moved from Selly Oak to where it stands today.

Standing alongside Selly Manor is the impressive Minworth Greaves.

Thought to date from the 13th century, it was moved, from about 12 miles away, and re-built in 1932 by Laurence Cadbury.

Explore the six rooms of Selly Manor containing the Laurence Cadbury Collection of period furniture and domestic objects. Try on armour and costumes. Smell the spices. Handle objects. Find out more with fascinating room books or our virtual tour.

Discover and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our traditional cottage garden.

Welcome to Selly Manor

Selly Manor Museum’s two distinct and beautiful buildings have fascinating histories, with close links to world famous chocolate-maker George Cadbury and his son Laurence.
