RODEO MONTUBIO

This native festival is organized to celebrate Columbus Day (October 12), made

to know who is the man of the field, his courage, his audacity, and admire the beauty of

the montubia woman.

Furthermore. Montubios rodeos, with 510 years of tradition, try to preserve the

identity of the man and the montubia woman, which are the result of the mixture of

Spanish black, who have settled in the Ecuadorian coast.

The woman not only participates in the contest of "Criolla Bonita", but

participates in certain numbers and dominate the wild galloping pony. The audience

reward her with applauses. Also, the recognition extends to children, who with a meter

and a half tall flaunt their lineage and face swift chúcaros ponies and cows. The festival

ends on a big dance outdoors.
