Our Preschool Program in the Fairfield building provides a creative environment focused on art, music, and early literacy. Within a Montessori environment, children spend their afternoons working with familiar materials. ELEMENTARY 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. and Extended Day 5:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Led by teachers with expertise in Science, Technology, Visual and Performing Arts, History and Math, our Elementary After School Program in the Exeter building follows a balanced schedule of homework and tutoring sessions, technology extensions, community building games, and art projects. EnrichmentAn Opportunity to Explore and Expand InterestsAGE 3 – GRADE 6

PRESCHOOL 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.In the Preschool years, the goal of Enrichment Classes is to expand each student’s experience with teamwork, body movement, fine motor skills, and foundational academic learning. Each course is anchored in the child-centered and kinesthetic learning model that defines Montessori, while focusing student learning into a greater context, setting new ideas to song, and connecting understanding to culturally-rich curriculum. ELEMENTARY 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.Enrichment Classes at the Elementary level continue to empower students as they explore and engage with new curriculum. Each offering is intended to draw on multiple intelligences that can be developed in both a simultaneous and complementary style. The goal of this curriculum is for students to connect the learning from these courses to the work in the classroom, real life situations, and the work of their peers. Storytime Yoga with KidPowerment Storytelling and music abound as students learn about healthy living in a fun and active way. While traveling through a world of imagination, children learn to calm their minds and bodies, take healthy risks, and respect the needs of others. Children learn traditional yoga poses and breathing techniques, while exploring yoga inspired activities.

Athletic Games (P3 – Kindergarten only)KnuckleBones® brings sportscentered fun into the lives of children. Through athletic play and creative movement, children learn self control and team building. Children play indoor soccer, kickball, and other traditional games as they become more empowered athletes, classmates, and friends.

Storytelling & Artful Adventures (P4 – Kindergarten only)The Museum of Fine Arts’ exceptional program, Artful Adventures, brings inspired storytelling, improvisation, and art to each class. Students purposefully expand their art skills as they delve into story adventures and the biographies of famous artists.




Mandarin (Kindergarten only)Mandarin caters to children who are curious about leaning the Chinese language and culture through art. An innovative class inspired by Maria Montessori’s pedagogy, children have the ability to achieve their optimal potential at their own comfortable pace. This course uses different forms of art as tools to engage in foreign language learning. Children master each skill by expressing themselves through the process of exploration, using their creative work to motivate a fun and engaging learning experience.

Global Move and Groove with KidPowerment (Pre-K only)In this course, students travel around the world on a journey of movement and self expression! Not just an introduction to creative movement, children learn about music and dance from many different cultures. Students develop coordination, balance, and body awareness as they move and groove across the globe. Students discover the confidence to express themselves dramati-cally through their newfound connection to movement and the world.

Creative Play (P3 – Kindergarten only)Knucklebones® Creative Play programs combine movement through games and activities as well as music and creative expression. Each week your coach engages the children using a plethora of unique equipment including scarves, ribbons, balancing stones, hula hoops, balls, inflatable tubes and much more. We’ll also play traditional athletic games but with a unique twist, allowing everyone to have fun.

Science Exploration (Kindergarten only)Explore! Stir! and Shake! Students dive in and explore the world around them as they go on a weekly journey to discover something new and exciting around every corner.




Music Together (Pre-K only)Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Kingsley’s Music Together Class provides a fun and exciting environment that is ideal for young children to explore their musical self.

ELEMENTARY ENRICHMENT

Chess, Math and LogicStudents cover the essential concepts for opening, middle, and end game play while improving their skills. Children enhance their creativity, improve concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and increase the potential for academic success. Students also explore complementary math and logic activities to help boost their chess practice and overall problem-solving skill.




Artful AdventuresThe Museum of Fine Arts’ Artful Adventures brings inspired storytelling, improvisation, and art to each class. Students purpose-fully expand their art skills as they delve into story adventures and the biographies of famous artists.




Young EngineersUtilizing a curriculum developed from the Museum of Science, children are introduced to engineering through hands-on exploration. Students exercise critical thinking, observation skills, and creativity and gain firsthand experience in determining specifi- cations, gathering observations, building prototypes, and evaluating their work.




MandarinMandarin caters to children who are curious about leaning the Chinese language and culture through art. In this course, children achieve a strong foundation of the Chinese language and culture at their own comfortable pace. An innovative class inspired by Maria Montessori’s pedagogy, the course uses different forms of art as tools to engage in foreign language learning. Children master each skill by expressing themselves through the process of exploration and use their creative work to create a fun and engaging learning experience.




YogaIn this fun and dynamic class, students learn to strengthen their bodies and calm their minds! Students explore traditional yoga and breathing exercises to keep our bodies strong and flexible, along with relaxation exercises to help children feel calm and confident. Students have a true yoga experience as they learn and practice poses in a way that is exploratory and introspec-tive. Kids discover their own “Peaceful Warrior” while laughing, moving and breathing to a happier, healthier self.

Lab Science (Grade 3 – 5 only)Come discover what makes science both incredible and useful! Partnering with MIT, students learn about stars & galaxies, atoms & molecules, forces & motion, electricity, and the elements. Meetings are hands-on and informal, featuring experiments, demonstrations, and deep exploration of student-driven questions. Students are guaranteed to come away with great excitement about science and its crucial role in our daily lives!




MIT XploreStudents improve their ability to think logically in the context of mathematics for the purpose of critically analyzing their current knowledge, arriving at new under-standings, and improving their problem solving skills. The program offered by MITxplore is divided into two components: one theoretical component and one practical component. In the theoretical component of the program, student explorers discover unknown areas of mathematics, sparking their curiosity and nurturing their logical reasoning. In the practical component, students improve their problem solving skills by completing tailored exercises and participating in fun activities. The set of skill acquisition is designed to nurture and empower students to continue their explora-tion of mathematics, as well as other fields well beyond their length of involvement in our program.



Big Mac (Grade 5 – 6 only)The Montessori Athletic Conference (Big M.A.C.) was formed in the fall of 2009 to provide students with healthy, enjoyable competition that promotes physical and social growth while teaching good sportsmanship. The Big M.A.C. is comprised of 12 schools which include Kingsley, Lexington, Oak Meadow, Andover, Inly, Riverbend, Thatcher, Harborlight, Woodside, Cambridge, Stoneridge, and Bay Farm. All students in Fifth and Sixth Grade are eligible to play for Kingsley’s Big M.A.C. team.

KMS Run Club (Grade 2 – 4 only)The Kingsley Run Club keeps kids moving! Utilizing the beautiful neighborhood, kids run and play while learning the importance of health, safety, teamwork, and exercise. Students run along the Esplanade and through the streets of Back Bay. They also follow an indoor currciulum that takes them through the evolution of running and the importance of stretching, breathing, and short drills.

ISEE Prep Course (Grade 6 only)In partnership with Kaplan, Kingsley offers a robust 8-week preparatory course for the Independent School Entrance Exam. This class covers both the content and test taking strategy for each subtest, including the essay. Technology PlaygroundStudents have fun exploring the world of robotics! By using tools such as NXT basics, Scratch, and Tynker, kids enhance their collaborative problem solving skills while building on their understanding of engineering principles.

Private Music LessonsBuilding Confidence and A Love of MusicAGE 5 – GRADE 6

PIANO, VOICE, VIOLA, VIOLIN, CELLO, GUITAR, AND UKULELE

Private music lessons provide students with an opportunity to learn new instruments, experiment with musical concepts, and solidify their notation and improvisation skills. Offered by highly skilled musicians once a week, lessons are based on the individual needs and interests of each child. Spring Vacation CareA Week to Innovate and ExperimentAGE 3 – GRADE 6, EXETER AND FAIRFIELD BUILDINGS

Typically offered during the Winter and Spring Breaks, Vacation Care is a smaller-scaled version of Kingsley’s Summertime Program. Staffed by Kingsley teachers, the Vacation Care Program gives children the opportunity to discover new interests, to explore interesting subjects, and to have fun! The pace of the day is flexible, providing children access to all of the School’s resources and enabling them to become immersed in numerous projects and activities. Walking field trips and special guests are also an integral part of the week’s highlights. Winter Vacation Care will not be offered this year due to

the constraints of the 2013 – 2014 holiday calendar.
