Saint Thomas More School and the community that supports it has always been extraordinary. But in the months since COVID-19 hit, we have collectively been called upon to prove that more than ever. You will find herein our annual financial report for the school year that ended in June 2020, and a grateful acknowledgment of the gifts we received over that period. Visually, this report demonstrates how we are, in the here and now, living out our commitment to our students and the wider community in these unprecedented times. By coming together as the loving and faith-filled community we are, our students are now on track – whether attending classes at home or in-person.

The Jesuit way of finding God in all things was brought to life in so many ways in the Spring when we, along with the rest of the nation, sent students home to quarantine. It meant that parents, challenged by all that quarantine brought, found a silver lining in more family time. It meant truly appreciating all that our wonderful teachers do every day. And so much more.

Your Annual Fund contributions last year played (and continue to play) a vital role in closing the gap between the actual cost to educate and tuition, but also – especially important in these times – supporting families in need of tuition assistance. We also used funds to help with technology upgrades to bolster online education options.

On behalf of STM School, I sincerely thank you for your support of the Annual Fund – and for the myraid other ways that you contribute that help us provide an extraordinary education for our students. Thank you for being part of STM School’s extraordinary community.

Saint Thomas More Catholic School opened on September 1, 1950, with approximately 140 children in grades one through five. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur staffed the school. Grades six, seven, and eight were added in successive years. In 2016, STM School became the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s only parochial primary school in the Jesuit Tradition. Classes range from kindergarten through eighth grade with two classes per grade level. A comprehensive curriculum is provided in mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, as well as religion, foreign language, computer technology, music/band/chorus, art, and physical education.

Saint Julie Billiart is the patron saint of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, beloved founders of Saint Thomas More School. The statue shown below is in the school’s main entry hallway and is passed by students every day. Our Saint Julie now wears a protective face mask, setting an example for all of our on-site students, faculty and staff during these extraordinary times. Because of St. Julie’s love for the sunflower, we include it to serve as a beautiful reminder to follow the direction of God in our lives.

Special ThanksClass of 2020 Gift Inspires Each year, the 8th grade graduating class makes a purchase for the school as a parting gift. This year, with some in our community being affected financially by the pandemic, our STM Class of 2020 wanted to give back to our own STM family. The money collected for the traditional 8th Grade Gift was given to the school to be used for local financial aid to support STM School families who’ve been affected by the pandemic. We thank the Class of 2020 for their very generous support!
