Here’s What Volunteers Said:

“Extreme Build was flexible enough for me to help a few days and

help make an impact on a family’s life.”

“It seems such a simple thing - to give something of myself to enable someone else

to have a home. I think this is a part of being the presence of Christ.”

“Extreme Build is a well organized and worthwhile project.”

“I attended last year and I went home at the end of the week with a heart

that longed to do more.”

“I attended Extreme Build to be a part of the wonderful work God was doingin the life of the Sharon family.”

“I attended Extreme Build to serve God, to help a fellow human being,

for fellowship and camaraderie.”

“After spending 10 years with Habitat for Humanity I realize the importance of home

ownership, especially for those who are trying hard but just can’t swing it.

I have seen how the Extreme build has changed the entire outlook of children

and young people, boosting their self-esteem and creating a desire to do greaterthings. It’s a great work that we do and I hope it will continue ad infinitum.”

“It was a part of our mission trip. I thought the idea was interesting but was unsure

of why we should go ‘all that way.’ Boy was I surprised. Not only was the distance

well worth the drive, but the people we met were just super.”

Meet Paula Sharon

Paula Sharon is raising two sons - Travis (13) and Steven (20). She is a hard

worker and committed mother. A few years ago Paula, Travis, and Steven left

everything and started over without a place to live or much of anything to call

their own. Paula found the courage and determination to leave an abusive

relationship to move herself and her sons toward a safer environment. She has

saved and provided for the family on her own - working for six years at the

Farm House Inn at Parker’s Lake. With the help of her father, Paula bought an

acre of land where she dreamt of “building a home where my son can have thefreedom he needs to be a child, a place to love and cherish.” With the help of

so many faithful KBF partner partners, Paula and her family achieved this

dream in 2009.

EXTREME BUILD 2010: McCREARY COUNTY

 June 11-19, 2010

KBF is pleased to announce that Kristi Wilson will be the recipient of the fifth Extreme Build

home built in McCreary County. Kristi Wilson is a single mother of two children ages seventeenand two. She works full time, often over fifty hours a week to provide for her children. She hasstruggled over the years, but has been able to buy her own land and a small mobile home that israpidly deteriorating. Kristi comes from a large family of six children whose father died at ayoung age. She knows hardship first-hand and wants to provide a better life for her children.Kristi is divorced and receives no assistance from her children’s father. Through hard work anddedication, she has worked to raise her children on her own, but needs help to provide a safe anddecent home for them. As Kristi says, “My main focus is my kids. I’m doing this for my kids sothey can have something they can be proud of!” Let’s join together with Kristi’s family to build ahouse in just over a week. Won’t you be apart of this opportunity to “Build Up Hope” inMcCreary County?
