1 SAFETY FIRST
1) We care about your safety!2) Please use appropriate Personal
Protective Equipment3) Make sure the trailer is properly
secured before beginninginstallation
2 TOOLS REQUIRED
1) 7/16th wrench2) 9/16th torque wrench3) Cam puller tool or wood block4) Mallet5) Small pick6) Snap Ring Plier7) Grease gun8) All-purpose high quality grease9) Anti-seize / anti-corrosion
compound
3 VERIFY PART NUMBER
1) Measure spider inner diameter andcam tube outer diameter
2) Measure cam tube length anddistance from spider to bracket
3) Confirm kit contains left or righthand S-Cam
4 INSTALL OPTIONAL BOLT-ON BUSHING
1) Install bolt on bushing (part #C089K) if required.
2) Grease the inside of the C089before inserting cam tube
5 REMOVE THE GREASE FITTING AND PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE FROM THE TUBE
6 INSERT THE SLACK ADJUSTER END OF THE CAM TUBE INTO THE MOUNTING PLATE
7 POSITION THE CLAMP COLLAR
1) Insert the slack adjuster end of thecam tube into the clamping collar
2) Be sure crown side is facing themounting plate
8 SLIDE THE TUBE THROUGH THE BRACKET
9 REINSTALL GREASE FITTING AND PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
** Do not over-torque the fittings to the point they could interfere with S-Cam rotation **

10 PREPARE INSIDE OF SPIDER AND END OF THE CAM TUBE
1) Thoroughly clean the inside of thespider for best fit
2) For ease of future maintenance, treat the spider and cam tube endwith an appropriate corrosionprevention / anti-seize compound
3) Lubricate the spider and cam tubeend prior to inserting the cam tubeinto the spider
11 INSTALL CAM TUBE INTO SPIDER
1) Rotate the cam tube so the greasefitting is pointing straight down
*** You will not be able to rotate the cam tube after it is inserted into the spider! ***
2) Use a wood block or a tube pullerto avoid damaging the tube
3) Cam tube must be flush withwheel end of the spider
12 CONNECT MOUNTING BRACKET TO AXLE BRACKET
1) If axle bracket is threaded, tightenbolts onto bracket
2) Tighten nuts to 45 foot-poundstorque
13 PREPARE S-CAM FOR INSTALLATION
1) S-Cam MUST be free of corrosionor other contaminants prior toinstallation
1) We STRONGLY recommendtreating S-Cam with an appropriatecorrosion prevention / anti-seizecompound (such as CorrosionX )prior to installation
3) Aggressive corrosion preventionduring installation will maximizethe life of your Extreme Cams
14 LUBRICATE CAM BUSHINGS
1) Use a high quality automotivegrease appropriate for yourweather conditions
2) Thoroughly coat entire innerbushing surface with grease beforeinstalling S-Cam
15 INSTALL S-CAM
1) Slide the D ring onto the S-Cam2) Insert S-Cam into cam tube3) Inspect cam tube seals for
damage. Damaged seals mayresult in contaminants andcorrosion inside the cam tube
16 REMOVE SNAP RING GROOVE FILLER AFTER INSTALLING S-CAM
1) The groove filler prevents damageto the seals during installation ofthe S-Cam. Remove filler afterinstalling S-Cam.
2) Use the widest spacer that fitsbetween the cam tube and the snapring groove
3) Install the snap ring4) There should be no lateral
movement of the S-Cam after snapring is installed
17 GREASE TUBE
1) Slowly grease the cam tube untilthe grease exits the pressure reliefvalve
2) Rotate the S-Cam 5-10 times toinsure all voids are filled withgrease
3) Grease again until the grease exitsthe pressure relief valve. Repeat asnecessary
18 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
Every four weeks: Grease the cam tube Make sure the S-Cam rotates
freely
Annually: Remove the S-Cam, clean, and
treat the inside of the tube and theS-Cam with an anti-corrosion /anti-seize compound
Inspect and replace the seals ifneeded
Reinstall your Extreme Camsaccording to steps 13-17
