Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) study in process. On Friday, January 19, 2018, the Facilities performed a site walk at Norwalk HS with the environmental consultant Ninyo & Moore to mark-up the drilling locations for additional sampling required by DTSC. On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Ninyo & Moore returned to the Norwalk HS to drill and obtain additional samplings. The samplings obtained are currently undergoing review by Ninyo & Moore. On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) has been published for 45-day public review from January 23, 2018 to March 8, 2018, as part of the CEQA analysis process. The scoping meeting is scheduled for March 1, 2018, 6:00 – 7:30pm at Norwalk High School Library, to receive public comments on the Draft EIR.

Construction trailers have been set. Mobilization, SWPPPs and abatement activities were completed. Demolition is approximately 80% complete, including clear and grub of top soil, removal of chain link fencing and footings, small structures, and asphalt paving. Removal of trees located on South end is scheduled in February, which will complete demolition activities. Excavation of buildings foundations will start early part of February.

EXCELSIOR HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM CNRA GRANT PROJECT (ARCHITECT: RUHNAU CLARKE)

Status: Scope Development Facilities staff along with Business Services, Technology Services and Maintenance & Operations met with the architect (Ruhnau Clarke) and the Theater Consultant (The Ruzika Group) on Monday, February 5th, to discuss the project scope. The team also toured the interior and exterior of the auditorium with the architect and Theater Consultant. The architect is scheduled to forward a potential/proposed scope for the District’s review within two weeks.

KITCHEN REMODEL PROJECTS LOCATED AT DISTRICT OFFICE, JOHN GLENN HS,

Status: Design

During the Monday, January 22, 2018 Board Meeting, the Board approved the agreements for WEBB to design the kitchens and Bernards for construction management services. Currently the District, Bernard, and WEBB are coordinating the design development. Considering the Monday, May 29, 2018 Board meeting, WEBB informed that they require 6 weeks for procurement time and 30 days for installation.

RAMONA HEAD START SHADE STRUCTURES PROJECT (ARCHITECT: DOUGHERTY)

Status: Pre-Bidding Anticipated Construction Start Date: Summer 2018 The project was approved by the Division of the State Architect (DSA) in 2017. Facilities Staff is currently working with Head Start to order the shade structures from Dave Bang Associates. Once the structures are fabricated they should arrive within 6-8 weeks. Project is currently on track for Summer 2018 Construction.

NORWALK ADULT SCHOOL RESTROOM REMODEL (ARCHITECT: TBD)

Status: Planning

A request was received from Norwalk Adult School to remodel a restroom in the 300 wing. On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, Facilities Staff met with Dougherty Architects for a site visit. Facilities Staff is currently working on a total construction and project budget.
