In December 2015 the NHS shared planningguidance 1617 ndash 2021 outlined a newapproach to help ensure that health and careservices are built around the needs of localpopulations To do this every health andcare system in England will produce a multi‐year STP showing how local services willevolve and become sustainable over the nextfive years

Local Healthwatch will continue to monitorthe development and implementation of the STP ensuring that the patientexperience and improving patient outcomes are kept at the forefront of anyand all future service delivery changes

CQC finds improvement at London Ambulance Service NHS Trustbut calls for further progress The Care Quality Commission(CQC) has found that the LondonAmbulance Service NHS Trust hasmade improvements to the safety of its services The trust was issued with a warning notice by the CQC in October 2015requiring it to take action to ensure that there were sufficient numbers ofappropriately trained paramedics risks were managed more effectively andmedicine management was following recommended guidelines At the timethe trust was given a rating of Inadequate Inspectors carried out a focused follow up inspection in August 2016 to checkon the trustrsquos progress in meeting the requirements of the warning notice Afull report detailing the findings of that inspection has been published andhighlights a number of improvements

Since August 2016 NHS health andsocial care services have been requiredby law to ensure their communicationsare accessible to all Now six monthson NHS England wants to hear whatdifference the Accessible InformationStandard has made to your experience

The Standard exists to make sure that people with a disability impairment orsensory loss are given information they can access and understand as well asany communication support that they need This includes making sure that information is available in different formatssuch as large print braille easy read or via email It also requiresappropriate support to be available such as a British Sign Language (BSL)interpreter deafblind manual interpreter or an advocate NHS England wants to understand the impact that the standard has had inthree key areas

How the Standard has made a difference to peoplersquos experiencesHow organisations have implemented the StandardIf there are any areas of the Standard that need updating or clarifying

1 in 4 black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimedouble the risk faced by all men which is 1 in 8 Yet only 14 of blackmen are aware of their higher risk So Prostate Cancer UK has launched acampaign called Stronger Knowing More to make sure that all black menknow their risk and what to do about it

CQC finds improvement at London Ambulance Service NHS Trustbut calls for further progress The Care Quality Commission(CQC) has found that the LondonAmbulance Service NHS Trust hasmade improvements to the safety of its services The trust was issued with a warning notice by the CQC in October 2015requiring it to take action to ensure that there were sufficient numbers ofappropriately trained paramedics risks were managed more effectively andmedicine management was following recommended guidelines At the timethe trust was given a rating of Inadequate Inspectors carried out a focused follow up inspection in August 2016 to checkon the trustrsquos progress in meeting the requirements of the warning notice Afull report detailing the findings of that inspection has been published andhighlights a number of improvements

CQC finds improvement at London Ambulance Service NHS Trustbut calls for further progress The Care Quality Commission(CQC) has found that the LondonAmbulance Service NHS Trust hasmade improvements to the safety of its services The trust was issued with a warning notice by the CQC in October 2015requiring it to take action to ensure that there were sufficient numbers ofappropriately trained paramedics risks were managed more effectively andmedicine management was following recommended guidelines At the timethe trust was given a rating of Inadequate Inspectors carried out a focused follow up inspection in August 2016 to checkon the trustrsquos progress in meeting the requirements of the warning notice Afull report detailing the findings of that inspection has been published andhighlights a number of improvements

The Standard exists to make sure that people with a disability impairment orsensory loss are given information they can access and understand as well asany communication support that they need This includes making sure that information is available in different formatssuch as large print braille easy read or via email It also requiresappropriate support to be available such as a British Sign Language (BSL)interpreter deafblind manual interpreter or an advocate NHS England wants to understand the impact that the standard has had inthree key areas
