The Panther Post OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF NEDERLAND MIDDLE-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL October 16, 2018 Issue No. 9 PRINCIPAL YANTZER TRACKS FROM PRINCIPAL CARRIE YANTZER As I begin to write this week’s Principal Tracks, I am reminded of this quote: “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” This past Monday, our high school math teacher, Mr. Scott Geels, and his family experienced a very traumatic event. Their house caught fire in Gilpin County. Our amazing fire crews responded quickly and were able to salvage quite a bit of their house. However, due to the internal damage and the outside physical damage the Geels family will be displaced for quite some time. Our amazing staff, students and community have reached out to ask what they can do to support the Geels family as they navigate their way through this terrible event. In visiting with the Geels family they are very grateful for everyone’s love, support and desire to help. However, at their request they are not in need of money, food or items at this time. But they are in need of suggestions for furnished rentals in our area. If you have a suggestion please reach out to Mr. Scott Geels directly, [email protected]. The Geels family is an incredibly strong family and they are an integral part of our school and community. We are saddened by this event that happened to them, but we ALL will continue to support them physically, emotionally and mentality as we begin to try to help them put the pieces back together. Thank you to everyone that has inquired about ways to help. We live in such a wonderful community. Please continue to keep the Geels Family in your thoughts as their strength is unwavering. P.S. MEET AND GREET WITH SUPERINTENDENT DR. ANDERSON! The Nederland Community is invited to have a Meet and Greet with our Superintendent Dr. Anderson! Please join us on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Nederland 6th-12th Grade Auditorium. It will be a very informative night. Please mark your calendars and plan on joining our community meeting.
