3. Advertising & IdentificationBoats and competitors shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. 3.1. Competing boats may be required to display

advertising of the Event Sponsor as provided by the Organizing Authority.

3.2. Boats may be required to display identification numbers.

3.3. Competitors aboard the boats ranked first, se-cond and third in the series at the beginning of each day, may be required to wear yellow, blue and red bibs respectively while racing. The bibs will be provided by the Organizing Authority.

4. Eligibility, Entry and Quotas4.1. The event is open to eligible boats of the Interna-

tional Formula 18 Catamaran Association. 4.2. All competitors shall be members of their res-

pective National or of the International F18 Class Association when there is no National Associa-tion in their country, and shall have their entry endorsed by their respective national or by the International F18 Class Association.

4.3. No later than July 1st 2015, a boat shall enter the regatta via Internet and pay the appropriate Entry Fee. Online-entries via Internet (2015.f18worlds.com) shall be used. The official entry form must be used and filled in completely. The Organizing Authority shall be authorized to collect the Entry Fee electronically. No other forms will be accepted.

2. Rules2.1. The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as

defined in ISAF’s The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

2.2. No national prescriptions will apply.2.3. Subject to the approval of the Race Committee,

a boat chartered or loaned for the events may be declared at the time of entry or registration a sail number which may be different from the registered number of the hull provided that the number declared shall not be the sail number of any other boat competing in the regatta.

2.4. If there is a conflict between languages, the Eng-lish text will take precedence.

Class Rules. The maximum quota is 200. The quotas get published on the official event website.

4.5. Entries will be official and confirmed after appro-val by the national Formula 18 associations and the Organizing Authority received the payment. To save money and give the Organizing Au-thority a good planning overview: Please enter early!

4.6. If the total of the country quotas does not reach 200 the Organizing Authority has got the right to give the left spots as wild cards to other boats by using the scheme “first-come, first-served”.

4.7. If the number of entries of any country does not reach the maximum nation quota until March 15th 2015 all empty spots will change into wild cards and the Organizing Authority is allowed to invite other boats.

4.8. Competitors under 18 years of age shall present a signed and completed parent (or guardian) consent and declaration form at registration. The forms are available for download on the event website.

4.9. The following documents shall be provided at the time of registration:

4.9.1. A copy of a valid Measurement Certificate.4.9.2. Proof of Membership as per NOR 4.2.4.9.3. Proof of age for Junior and Master Competitors.4.9.4. Proof of Insurance as per NOR 21.

5. FeesFees are stated in Euro (€) incl. any taxes.Entries received until January 15th 2015 will qualify for the Early Entry Fee.Entries received from January 16th 2015 and not later than April 30th 2015 will qualify for the Entry Fee.

5.1. The Entry fee has to be paid via the entry form online.

5.2. Boats which didn’t qualify for a country spot and failed to receive a wild card spot will receive the (Early) Entry Fee back. Same if the event is cancelled.

6. Format The regatta will consist of a qualifying series and a final series.

Prize Giving Ceremony

7.1. Fifteen (15) races are scheduled for the Worlds.7.2. There will be a maximum of 4 races per day.7.3. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the

first race of the World Championship is 11.00 hrs on July 14th.

7.4. When more than one race will be held on the same day, the warning signal for each succee-ding race will be made as soon as practicable, after the finish of the previous race.

7.5. On the last day of the World Championship no warning signal will be made after 15.00 hrs except as a consequence of a General Recall.

8. Measurement8.1. Equipment inspection will take place at the event

location.8.2. Each boat shall present valid measurement cer-

tificates and present it at time of Registration.8.3. No fundamental measurement will be done on

regatta site during registration days. Competitors who need fundamental measurement must make their own arrangements prior to Championship.

8.4. Sails shall have the full sail number and national letters in accordance with the Class Rules and RRS Appendix G.

8.5. Boats may be subject to further inspections at any time during the regattas.Additional measurement checks may be con-ducted during the regatta at the discretion of the Organising Authority.

8.6. Following each day’s racing one or more boats may be inspected for compliance with Class Rules.

9. Sailing InstructionsThe sailing instructions will be available at registration.

14.4. A minimum of six (6) races are required to be completed to constitute the qualification series.

14.5. When fewer than four (4) qualification races have been completed, a boat’s qualification se-ries score will be the total of her race scores.

14.6. When four (4) or more qualification races have been completed, a boat’s qualification series score will be the total of her race scores exclu-ding her worst score.

14.7. After the qualification series is completed, com-petitors will be divided into two parts, the first half entering the Gold fleet and the second half ente-ring the Silver fleet. In case of odd entry num-bers, Gold fleet will gather one more competitor than Silver fleet.

14.8. When fewer than four (4) final races have been completed, a boat’s final score will be the total of her final race scores, added to her qualification series score.

14.9. When four (4) or more final races have been completed, a boat’s final score will be the total of her final races scores excluding her worst score, added to her qualification series score.

14.10. To establish the final results, Gold fleet com-petitors will be scored higher than Silver fleet competitors.

15. Support Boats15.1. All support boats shall be registered by the Or-

ganizing Authority and will be required to comply with local legislation and event support boat re-gulations. The Organizing Authority may refuse registrations and accept later registrations at their sole discretion.

15.2. The fee for support boat registration will be 50.00€.

15.3. A unique registration number will be assigned to each support boat during the Check-In.

15.4. Support boats with team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall stay outside areas where boats are racing from the time of the preparatory signal for the first fleet to start until all boats have finished or the Race Com-mittee signals a postponement, general recall or abandonment.

15.5. All coaches and other support personnel shall wear personal flotation devices which are in good condition and are in accordance with the specifications issued or approved by the national authority affiliated to the International Sailing Fe-deration, or a standards organization, a certifica-tion authority, recognized for the purpose by its respective government. The driver shall connect all time to the boat by the kill cord.

15.6. All support boats shall clearly display the 3 letter national code of their ISAF Member National Authority or the national flag at all times while afloat. The minimum height for the letters shall be 200 mm and visible from both sides of the boat.

15.7. Support boats are required to monitor the safety VHF channel 72 radio frequency at all times and shall be required to undertake safety duties at the direction of the Race Officer.

10. Venue10.1. The regatta will be held at the Olympic-Center

Kiel-Schilksee.10.2. The racing area will be Kiel Bay.

11. The CoursesThe courses will be defined in the sailing instructions. A trapezoid course or windward/leeward course may be used.

12. Penalty System12.1. Rule 44.1 and RRS P2.1 is changed so that the

Two-Turn Penalty is replaced by the One Turn Penalty.

12.2. The scoring penalty, rule 44.3, will not apply.

13. International JuryAn International Jury will be constituted for the Champi-onships in accordance with RRS 91 (b).

14. Scoring14.1. Three (3) races are required to be completed to

constitute a championship.14.2. The scoring system will include both qualification

and final series results.14.3. Competitors will be seeded into groups to sail

the qualification series.

from the individual liability for damages, as well as also all other individuals who were instructed to act in connection with the realization of the event. The effective racing rules of the ISAF, the administrative regulations regatta-sailing and the articles of association of the DSV, the class rules as well as the regulations of the invitation to the competition and the sailing instructions are to be complied with and are expressly recognized.

19.2. The German law shall prevail.

20. Media Rights, Cameras and Electric Equipement

20.1. By participating in the event automatically grant to the Organizing Authority and their sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of the athlete during the peri-od of the competition without compensation.

20.2. Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment or positioning equipment as specified and provided by the Organizing Authority.

20.3. The top three competitors as well as the indivi-dual race winners may be required to attend a media press conference each day.

20.4. Competitors may be required for interviews at the regatta.

21. InsuranceEach participating boat shall be insured with valid (and for the racing area suitable) third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 3,000,000 € per event or the equivalent.

16. BerthingBoats shall be kept in the assigned area in the boat park and shall maintain the same location in the boat park for the duration of the event.

17. Radio CommunicationExcept in an emergency, a boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmissions, text messages or cellular phone calls while racing. Except using equipment provi-ded by the Organizing Authority.

18. Prizes18.1. The regatta winners will obtain the title “2015

Formula 18 World Champions” and will be awar-ded the International Formula 18 World Cham-pions Perpetual Trophy.

18.2. Prizes will be awarded in the following catego-ries subject to entry numbers:

• Overall (both Gold and Silver fleets)• Female team – both helm and crew shall be

female• Mixed team• Master – the helm and crew shall be aged 50

years or older (both team members born before 1.1.1965)

• Youth – both helm and crew shall be under 23 years of age (both team members born on or after 1.1.1992)

19. Disclaimer of Liability - Cognovits Clause

19.1. The responsibility for the decision to participate in a race or to continue with it is solely with the skipper; to that extent the skipper also accepts full responsibility for the crew. The skipper is responsible for the qualification and the correct nautical conduct of the crew as well as for the suitability and the transport-safe condition of the registered boat. In cases of Force Majeure or on grounds of administrative orders or for safety reasons, the organizer is entitled to make chan-ges in the realization of the event or to cancel the event. This does not constitute any liability by the organizer towards the participant, if the rea-sons for the changes or the cancellation do not result from a willful or grossly negligent behavior of the organizer. In case of a violation of obliga-tions that do not constitute primary or material contractual duties (cardinal obligations), the lia-bility of the organizer for financial and property damages incurred by the participant during or in connection with the participation in the event and resulting from a conduct of the organizer, its representatives, servants or agents, is restricted to damages that were caused willfully or grossly negligent. When a violation of cardinal obliga-tions occurs due to minor negligence, the liability of the organizer is limited to foreseeable, typical damages. To the extent that the liability for da-mages of the organizer is excluded or restricted, the participant also relieves the staff - employees and representatives, agents, servants, sponsors and individuals who provide or drive salvage, safety or rescue vessels or assist with their use
