Fabric Scrap Dress All Row by Row Junior™ patterns are designed to be completed with the help of an adult sewing coach. All rotary cutting should be done by an adult.

Materials needed:

4” wide x 5” tall rectangle of fabric, pinked edges optional Thread to match fabric on top, white thread can be in the bobbin Happy Mother’s Day figure printed out on 8.5” x 11” paper. Print page 2 only. Print actual size. Do not scale to fit. Figure should be 7-1/4” hat top to toe.

>>>1. Fan fold the top 4” edge of the dress rectangle with tiny 1/4” folds.

>>>2. Tightly pinch the folds together about 1” from the top.

>>>3. Position the figure under the presser foot with the dotted stitching line right un-der the needle. Do this first because you will not be able to see your stitching line when your dress is in place.

>>>4. Position the pinched dress under the presser foot with the 1” line over the dotted stitching line.

>>>5. Lower the presser foot and take 2-3 stitches forward. Stop with the needle down. Raise the presser foot and “smush” the folded dress back under the foot. Lower the foot back down and continue stitching across the dress to hold the folds in place. Backstitch all the way back to where you started. Trim front threads neatly. On the back, gently tug the bobbin thread ends. This will bring up a little loop of front thread. Grasp the little loop from the back and bring the trimmed front thread ends to the back for a nice, neat finish.

>>>6. Fan out and fluff dress top and skirt. It does not have to be perfect to be pretty.

If you are not happy with your dress, it is possible to carefully take out the stitches from the back of the paper with a seam ripper and try again. A bit of scotch tape on the paper back will repair a tear if needed.

>>>7. Give your Scrap Dress to your mom with a big Mother’s Day hug! (can be trimmed to fit an 8” x 10” frame)
