First things first …

Before you can set up a Facebook Page for your green business, you need a Facebookpersonal account. Facebook calls that your “Profile.”

Profiles are for people and are set up under individual names. Pages are for businessesand are set up under business names.

Don’t confuse the two because Facebook set Pages up with the specific intent ofpromoting your business.

Here are some differences between your Profile and the business Page you’re about toset up:

Facebook makes it easy for anyone to “like” your business Page. That’s whatyou want! But as a Profile owner, you accept a friend request before they cansee your Profile.

Facebook limits your personal Profile to 5,000 friends. There are no limits tothe “likes” you can receive on your business Page.

Facebook makes you the only administrator of your personal Profile. But foryour business Page, you can designate multiple administrators in order tohelp manage it if the need arises (and let’s hope it does).

Facebook has made your business Page public by default. But on yourpersonal Profile you can maintain varied levels of privacy. This allows you tocustomize your settings in order to safely engage with business contactsyou’ve accepted as “friends” on your Profile.

Facebook gives you the option of categorizing your business several ways onyour business Page (local business, brand, sport, etc). Your personal Profile, however, is just that: a personal Profile attached to your personal name.

So, assuming you’ve already set up your Facebook Profile and are logged in …let’sstart building your business Page.

8. Upload/import your cover photo (dimensions: 851 x 315 pixels)

Because your cover photo is the first thing your visitors will see when they visit yourPage, you want it to represent your business or brand in an engaging and creative way.

Remember, your profile picture will display on top of your cover photo at a 160 x 160pixel size, 23 pixels from the left edge.

You can change your cover photo as often as you wish. You may also use no more than20% of your cover image for text. That means that if your cover image is 851 pixelswide, your text should take up space no more than 170 pixels wide (851 x .2 = 170).

Within that 170 x 315 pixel size you can include text such as website information, callsto action and special discounts.
