How big is it? What are its products and who does

it serve? What is its history? Have there been any recent

• Long-sleeved shirt and dark slacks• Tuck in the shirt and do not roll up

the sleeves• Ties - small dots, diagonal stripes &

small repeating shapes are all acceptable

• Belts - Those with smaller buckles with squared lines look more professional

• Socks – Black, blue or gray. Never white! Sock length-no skin should show when you sit down or cross your legs

• Shoes - Black or burgundy leather shoes with laces on them

• Hair - Keep neat & short. And shave off all those facial hair

• Jewellery – Only watches. No chains! No bracelets!

• Don't overcrowd your resume; allow for plenty of white space.

• Keep your resume to one page whenever possible.

• Use a font that is easy to read. Times Roman works well.

• Your name, address, and phone number should appear on your resume, preferably at the top of the page.

• Print your resume on white paper using a good-quality printer.

• Print on one side of the paper only. • Avoid spelling mistakes – Proof read

• The duties you currently perform should be in present tense

• Duties you may have performed at past jobs should be in past tense

• When expressing numbers, write out all numbers between one and nine (i.e., one, five, seven), but use numerals for all numbers 10 and above (i.e., 10, 25, 108)

• Consistent Date formats (i.e.08/05/09 or 8 May, 2009, or 08.05.09)

• References – Who knows you very well. Phone number and e-mail ID of the reference

• Skills & Experiences – Be Honest! No exaggerations or false reports!

outstanding. Experience : List the most recent first. Job title Employer name and location (city and state) Dates of employment Active description of your responsibilities and accomplishments Activities : Campus and community activities.References: Write the name, position & contact information of your references.

 Directive Questions - "What skills do you have that relate to this position?" (Focused answer)

 Non-Directive Questions  - "Tell me about yourself." (your education, related experience, skills and abilities, and personal attributes)

Scenario Questions - to test your problem-solving abilities

Behavioral Questions - "Give me an example of a work situation in which you were proud of your performance." (Relate & answer to the position)

Be a good listener. Don’t look around & ask the interviewer to repeat the question.

When you answer a question, look the interviewer in the eye.

Control your nervous habits. Don't swing your foot, talk with your hands, or fiddle with rings, buttons, pens, etc.

Try not to appear bored or anxious. Don't look at your

watch.

Avoid closed postures. Sit upright, but not stiffly.

Try to find a comfortable position as that will make you feel more relaxed.

Don’t lean on the

table.

Thank the interviewer for his time and consideration.

Ask when you can expect to hear from him. 

If it is not known when a decision will be reached, ask if you can phone in a week's time to inquire about the progress. 

If the interviewer offers his hand, shake it firmly. Otherwise, it is fine to offer yours first.
