ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW The International SeaKeepers Society promotes oceanographic research, conservation and education through direct involvement with the yachting community. SeaKeepers enables the yachting community to take full advantage of its unique potential to advance marine sciences and to raise awareness about global ocean issues. Members of SeaKeepers include influential opinion leaders who believe that the best way to protect the environment is to protect the world’s oceans. Our members recognize the ocean’s critical importance to the life of our planet. The Society is deeply committed to finding real-world solutions to the problems now plaguing our seas. Our small but distinguished membership includes entrepreneurs, yachtsmen, corporations, divers, scientists and concerned citizens building a global effort to help restore and protect the world’s oceans. As a private/public collaborative effort, the Society focuses on critical ocean issues in cooperation with government agencies, other likeminded organizations, the academic community, and the public. Our motto is, “Research. Educate. Protect and Restore.”

MARKETING OVERVIEW SeaKeepers continues to expand its reach by building strong partnerships with yachting and luxury publications and is currently associated with market leaders: Charterworld.com, Luxury Yacht Life magazine, MegayachtNews.com, SailBrasil.com.br, SoFlaNights.com, South Florida Luxury Guide, Southern Boating magazine, Super Yacht Industry magazine, Venu magazine, and Yachts International. FOUNDING MEMBERS

10.8.16

2016 AWARD RECIPIENT PROFILE

Founding member and SeaKeepers pioneer Alexander Dreyfoos is chairman and owner of The Dreyfoos Group, a private capital management firm established in 1963. A graduate of MIT and Harvard Business School, Alex Dreyfoos is best known for his manufacturing of electronic equipment for the photography industry, in which he received an Oscar for his noteworthy contribution to the motion pictures industry. In addition to receiving an Oscar, Dreyfoos holds 10 U.S. patents for his photographic technology and electronic equipment.

Dreyfoos first became involved with The International SeaKeepers Society through his support of programming and funding of ocean research, which cemented his long-term commitment to SeaKeepers’ mission. In 2008 Dreyfoos took ownership of the SWATH vessel Silver Cloud. Dreyfoos chose this unusual twin-hull design due to his wife Renate’s sensitivity to motion. The unique design effectively minimizes all rolling motion and Dreyfoos has enjoyed many years with family and friends travelling around the globe in this exceptional vessel. In May 2010, the Dreyfoos family received the Boat International World Superyacht Voyager’s Award in recognition of their 44,000-nautical-mile, 19-month odyssey aboard Silver Cloud.

In addition to his passion for invention and manufacturing, Dreyfoos is a passionate diver and an outstanding photographer. Over the course of his travels, he has captured thousands of underwater landscapes and coastal scenery – everything from crocodiles in Australia to parrots in the Amazon. In January 2015, he went on to publish a book of his photography entitled, A Photographic Odyssey: Around the World with Alexander W. Dreyfoos. Divided into six regions, the photographs showcase the planet’s underwater world including the Red Sea and the South Pacific Ocean. These images, selected from over 100,000 in his collection, span the years from 1950-2013 and include 60 countries.

Dreyfoos holds numerous distinctions for his community service and philanthropy including: former Governor-appointee to the Florida Council of 100 and a founding member, director, and former chairman of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County; founding member of The International SeaKeepers Society; member of the Chief Executives Organization and the World Presidents’ Organization; former member of Young Presidents Organization; former trustee of FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE-NEE); trustee of the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum; trustee of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience in Jupiter; Palm Beach Post Business Leader of the Year (1980), Palm Beach Post Man of the Year (1992), and their centennial recognition of the 100 people who “changed the way we live” (1999); Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Special Award (1985) and One and Only Award (1992); Nova Southeastern University’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Award (1991); Florida Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young and Merrill Lynch (1992); Palm Beach Atlantic University’s American Free Enterprise Award (1992); Northwood University’s Outstanding Business Leader Award (1994); Florida Atlantic University’s Entrepreneur of the Year (1996); Junior Achievement’s Inaugural Business Hall of Fame Award (2001); American Diabetes Association Valor Award (2005); MIT’s Marshall B. Dalton Award (1997) and Bronze Beaver Award (1997); recipient of Honorary Doctorate of Science degrees from Lynn University, Kellogg School of Science and Technology at The Scripps Research Institute, and recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship; Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (2008).

In 2007, Dreyfoos received the Key to the City of West Palm Beach where he currently resides with his wife Renate.
