Short Term Project Success ‘lurkers’ or ‘stalkers’ into
bloggers.
engages the reader
members feel connected- online community creating, expressing thoughts and sharing
Communication
My mom has cancer and
though it’s not terminal the
chemo takes a lot out of her and sometimes she
seems more dead than alive. (Christian)
- I hope your mom will win this
cancer (Jewish)
The cigarettes my grandpa
smoked caused my grandma to die of lung
cancer.(Jewish)
Things can get a little tough when there’s not much money to go around. (Christian)- Hang in there! (Muslim)
Till now I have never been
afraid, I thought it was far away, but now when I sit here I can
hear the bombs. I’m so afraid
(Jewish)-Be Strong-
were thinking of u all the time ♥
(Christian)
Long Term Project Success- Stereotypes
There is much more
ways to eng a fight!
Eliminating your
enemy is not a
solution (Muslim)I hate war…I dream about
peace in the entire world!!!(Jewish)
The silence is the tragedy- we see what happen to the syrian
peoples and the world don’t say a
word. As humans we must not sit quite and
watch CUZ WE R HUMANS!!! (Muslim)
I want people to actually listen to each other and
make a discussion on
important issues. I think it will stop a lot of the hate that people have
for each other and maybe even solve the Middle
East problem(Muslim)
This hate we feel for people we
don’t know, based on stories we grow
up listening to. I wanna stop this- the hate is just
hurting us ♥(Jewish)
I bet it’s really scary…I know it was really scary
when we had earthquakes(Christian)
Students ‘hungry’ to write the blogs (Kajder, 2004).
Students reacted more to the blogs under times of stress Students responded more to the blogs that their own teacher/friends posted.
Short titles were more successful.
Blogs that suggested some sense of urgency got quicker and more reactions.
6) Controversial topics=‘in depth’ responses.
7) Speaking place for the quieter students. (participation classroom setting).
8) Blog topics catering for a wide audience created larger responses.
9) Directives created more responses than the traditional, ‘What do you think?’ question forms.
“No, I’ve never been in love. I don’t think I ever will as I’m just an ugly swamp booger :(“ (Christian)
“Would you rather have your own ears sown onto your nose, or your eyeballs in your nostrils?” (Christian)
ThQ U 4 Read it :PHope u like me ;)Muslim
What happened to you is not easy and who did it isn’t human at all! And 6 million- this is so awful! (Muslim)
We saw a room with hooks on the walls and incinerators where the nazis used to kill the
jewish. The was a picture of the dead bodies which made
me cry. (Jewish)

Factors Contributing to Success
“We can’t make any change in the world before changing our self. I was dreaming along time ago to do good things in the world and I’m still dreaming. Why don’t we begin doing it??
(Muslim)
