Welcome to the Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care CenterWelcome to Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center, a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. OLC is committed to the belief and philosophy that recognizes the dignity and uniqueness of each person. OLC, a 450-bed facility located in view of the Great South Bay in West Islip, New York, o�ers a comprehensive index of services and programs geared to both adults and geriatric patients. Established in 1894 in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Dominic, OLC is a proven leader in continuing long term and post-acute care. Skilled nursing care at OLC includes geriatric care, rehabilitative care, dementia disease care and medically complex care.

BalconiesEach day room has a balcony, from some of them you can even see the bay!

Outdoor Gazebo AreaBeautifully landscaped outdoor area for residents and families to gather and visit. This area is also used for resident barbecues and activities.

Chapel OLC has its own chapel and meditation room designed with beautiful stained glass windows and ample space to accommodate wheelchairs. We encourage residents, patients, their families, sta� and visitors to use our chapel for quiet moments of prayer, devotion and solace.

Catholic Liturgy is o�ered to our residents and family members by our chaplain every day at 10:30am except Wednesday and Saturday. Other denominational services are o�ered for residents and patients.

The Pastoral Care Department of OLC strives to maintain an atmosphere where multiple faith communities may live, pray, grieve, celebrate and thrive together. Daily mass, weekly devotions, prayer groups, celebrations of religious feast days and bereavement groups are coordinated by the Pastoral Care Team for various faiths.

The Pastoral Care sta� is dedicated to the emotional, social and spiritual care of the residents, their family and sta�. Our main focus is to be aware of and provide evolving spiritual care needs by providing a Christ-like presence in the facility.

Rehabilitative Services The Department of Rehabilitative Services provides both short and long term physical, occupational and speech therapy to those who qualify, in a modern and supportive environment. Our facility o�ers a newly renovated bright and spacious rehabilitation suite which is outfitted with an array of state-of-the-art equipment. This patient centered plan of care is focused on improving all aspects of our resident’s physical, emotional and psychosocial well being while restoring an optimal level of independence.

Recreational Therapy The Recreational Therapy Department strives to promote joy and hope through meaningful and therapeutic programs that re-creates the spirit of all our residents and patients. The comprehensive, individualized program is comprised of cognitive, physical, intellectual, creative, social and solitary recreational pursuits. Our goals are to educate, rehabilitate and have residents and patientsparticipate in programs of their choice.

Recreational therapy services are provided every day throughout the year, including weekends, holidays and evenings. Therapeutic resident and patient specific programs can take place in a variety of settings such as our spacious auditorium, dining rooms, day rooms, lounges, room bound and on the outsidegrounds. Community contacts and outings, special events, inter-generational, pet therapy, computer access, art therapy, happy hour and other cultural, age appropriate programs round out our dynamic recreational therapy services.

Culinary & Nutritional Services Our state-of-the-art kitchen is equipped to provide well-balanced, nutritious and appetizing meals. They are served from a menu planned under the direction of a registered dietician and prepared by our culinary chefs. Aware of individual needs and tastes, we respect your preferences by providing a wide variety ofalternate selections.

Some of our specials for our resident/patient family include:• Weekly summer barbecues in our

lovely gazebo area, including live entertainment

• Monthly Dinner Theater• Monthly Birthday breakfast

celebrations• Special meals for Thanksgiving,

Christmas, and New Years

Beach Café

The Beach Café co�ee shop is located open to serve all residents/patients and their guests from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm and provides an additional area for pleasant relaxation and friendly conversation.

Senior Café:

OLC o�ers a senior meal program to those over the age of 55 in the local community. The Senior Café consists of a hot, nutritious meal, 7 days a week. These meals will be served in the employee cafeteria between the hours of 4:30pm and 6:30pm at the cost of $4.00 for a complete dinner including dessert. Menus change weekly. Aside from o�ering a nutritious meal, this program is also an opportunity to socialize and meet other seniors in your community.
