Profile

Dr. Firoz Mohammad was born at Hardoi in India. He got Ph.D. degree on ‘Mineral

Nutritional Studies on Yield and Quality of Mustard’ in 1984. He is involved in research and

teaching since 1980. He has explored nutrient and growth hormone application strategies for

better yield and quality of various crops including those of commercial as well as medicinal

importance. He is also working on their physiological and biochemical characterization,

particularly nitrate reductase and ATP-sulphurylase in respect of salt tolerance of rapeseed-

mustard genotypes. He was awarded D.Sc. degree in 2001 for his thesis on ‘Mineral Nutrition

of Common Alliums - A Physio-morphological Study’. He has published about eighty

research papers in reputed national and international journals. These includes Journal of

by the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, (b) a Senior Research Fellowship for three years

w.e.f. 12.10.1983 by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, (c) a

‘Medal’ on the presentation of one of research papers in the ‘Young Scientists’ Session of the

National Seminar on Plant Physiology Research Imperatives for the Nineties’ held in 1989 at

Kanpur and (d) a National Award ‘Academy for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences-

Junior Award (Gold Medal) for the year 1993’, which has been constituted by the Indian

Society for Plant Physiology to recognize the outstanding work of researchers below the age

of 35 years.
