The Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR) was established in 1995. FSR is the first in the country that offer academics programmes in the field of sports science, sports management, leisure and recreation. FSR started with the diploma programmes and became the first University in Malaysia then, to conduct Master of Sports Science (by coursework) in collaboration with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Australia in 1996. In 1999, two new degree programmes were introduced namely : Bachelor of Sports Science (Hons) and Bachelor of Sports Management (Hons). In July 2005, two new postgraduate programmes by research (PhD and master degrees) were introduced.
